We decided to try this deli out after a friend of our told us it was good.
I was surprised
We had the Cabbage rolls the pesto shrimp salad a Reuben and a Creme brulee.
I wasn't expecting perfect food but I have to honestly say it was a 5/5 for each item I might give the cabbage rolls a 4 against my mothers (she's perfect) but everything was much better then I expected.
I will go back and probably would more often if it was closer to me.
We ordered delivery which we usually expect to be no better then a 3 on a scale of 5 but it's what we all do when we don't have time to cook or just want a night out.
The food arrived within 25 minutes and was hot like it just got off the stove almost too hot to eat.
The chow mien was perfect as was the egg foo young the ginger beef was a bit overdone but I mean a bit certainly a 3 at the very least.
I was expecting late night Chinese food ordered simply because everyone else was closed but I was impressed and I will order from Rickshaw again.
We ordered off the regular menu not the AYCE, while my food arrived quickly my partners food did not arrive quickly. We asked after about 5-10 minutes of waiting for it where it was. We were told it would be just a minute. 20 more minutes went by and I had finished my meal entirely. We both decided it was best to just leave and grab some take out since we had plans that evening and didn't want to stay for another 30 minutes.
As we left the restaurant the manager wanted us to pay for both meals, which we didn't do. His meal had either been ready in the kitchen and not served or was just finished 45 minutes after mine. The manager scoffed at me for insisting I shouldn't have to pay for a meal that wasn't delivered to the table in the hour we had been there.
The meal I had was cooked ok and nothing exciting that would have made me go back, my partners Chicken Donburi we'll never know,(yes 1 hour to cook a chicken don).
I wouldn't plan on stopping here unless I was hungry and looking for a lot of food for a reasonable price.
The food quality is slightly better then it was under the HoHo name and the selection has improved the service is fast and efficient. For the price you pay it's well worth the amount you get, I couldn't finish my meal of 3 items on rice.
I feel like I'm eating in a cafeteria not a restaurant I suppose for the price that's what I should expect but next time I'll take out and dine at home.
I have to give their Sausage a positive hit. I did seem to wait overly long for it to be ready (I finished 1-1/2 beers). but it was worth the wait. by far the best Sausage I've had on the drive. The staff seems fairly new and inexperienced at their job but did eventually get it done and price was ok for a sausage.
I'd go back again for this, maybe it's the 2 beer wait talking but it was very good food.
Still hands down the best fry place on the drive. I do love the the expanded menu and the addition of on tap beers.
this has been a long time favorite stop for me and has had it's ups and downs over the years but has successfully managed to come out on top with a great product and at a price I'm ok with. I can't remember being served by the same person more then 2 times in the last year and I'd guess this would be due to the massive turn over of staff in the food industry. Since this is a 'Fry Shop' I won't hold that against them and just continue to be a customer since they have managed to maintain their quality product though difficult times in the fast food service business.
Still the best Poutine in town.
Sandwiches, LOVE THEM. ambiance is nice (a bit crowded, so many customers). I bought a mustard product and some olives and oils and didn't notice til later the mustard was out of date by over 1 year. I went back and had no problem getting them to replace it.
I also bought some of their other foods and later noticed they were also past date and some had not expiry date visible. I was a bit concerned has anyone else had issues with out of date product from this store?
Their Sandwiches are fantastic and perhaps the best on the drive but I do worry they are not rotating their stock or ordering too much to sell before it goes beyond expiry.
