Tojo's Restaurant1133 W Broadway, Vancouver
You get what you pay for
Submitted Friday, October 6, 2006 - 11:32am [Dine in]

Before you go to Tojos remember one thing. You get what you pay for. If you're looking for a deal, then go to All You Can Eat Japanese place. If you;re looking for quality then Tojos is your place. Probably the freshest sashimi around and definately the nicest cuts of tuna including Hamachi. Of course the price is expensive, party of 4 with 2 drinks each was $300.00 or $75.00. Great good and service !

I've heard lots of great things about this place and decided to bring my date with me. The prices are quite reasonable considering the location and the quality of the food is amazing. Excellent service in an excellent location. Another spectacular place to bring your date. Big thumbs Up !

Great new dishes
Submitted Thursday, October 5, 2006 - 2:08pm [Dine in]

Decided to try the robson location as we usually frequent the richmond location. They are celebrating their anniversary with lots of new dishes. We decided to try some of them and the tuna fry was absolutely amazing. As a big curry fan, they have a new curry with oxtail with pumpkin that was truly unique. I wasn;t sure how the curry would taste especially with the pumpkin but the pumpkin balanced in with the curry perfectly. As always the service is great and the food was great but the restaurant is a little crammed with the tables pretty close together. Thumbs up.

Good Noodles
Submitted Saturday, September 30, 2006 - 3:19pm [Dine in]

Great place for a quick lunch. The soup noodles here are probably one of the best in the city. Very good prices but the place needs to do some remodelling to look better. Good bang for the buck for Lunch.

One of the Better ones
Submitted Friday, September 29, 2006 - 8:45pm [Dine in]

If you;re looking for one of the better Japanese restaurants this is it. Its more of a bistro style place that seats no more than 40 people. Sit by the sushi bar. They probably have the freshest sashimi around. Prices are moderate and expensive for the nicer slices of fish like Hamachi. They have fresh geoduck which is truly a delicacy that must be appreciated if you order it. Overall food value for 2 people around $60. Clean place with solid service. Thumbs Up !

Plannning to go there tonight before a movie. I've had a bad experience at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Richmond, so I plan to hit this spot tonight. From what I remember this location offers great food with great service. Will followup with a review later ! Great bar as well.

If you;re looking for a great hamburger, Red Onion is one of the best places to go. Located in Kerrisdale, I think this place has been there for a while. Servers are attentive and courteous and the food is amazing ! Thumbs up !

Average at Best
Submitted Thursday, September 28, 2006 - 4:24pm [Dine in]

Went there for dinner the other night and overall was not happy. The service was extremely poor and the food was less than average. For their prices, I'd much rather eat somewhere else. Somehow this location is not comparable at all to their other locations. I sincerely hope they find better staff and spend some money to clean the place up.

This is a great place for subs. They probably make the best vietnamese subs in Vancouver. The place is not in the best location and definately not the greatest place for ambience. The tables are too close together and probably only 1000 sq feet for the whole restaurant but one thing for sure is, this place serves Great vietnamese food ! Service is decent at best, perhaps its the language barrier ?

If you;re looking for a place to eat when you;re very hungry... You should hit Shabusen. Great deal only if you can eat alot. Lots of selections including sashimi or even hot pot.Salad bar is lacking but overall the food was great. Call in advance for reservations or you can end up waiting for 30 mins plus like we did.

Decent Family Joint
Submitted Sunday, September 17, 2006 - 6:39pm [Dine in]

Late saturday night we were looking for a place to eat close to the movie theater. Was'nt keen on Japanese so we decided to hit the Old Spaghetti Factory. Not too busy for a saturday night. Service was pretty good. Protions are really good, but the food is lacking. Ambience is not as original as the Gastown location but I guess its a different location catering more to families in the Richmond area. Overall a decent place but dont expect great food. Average at best !

Great service
Submitted Friday, September 15, 2006 - 4:31pm [Dine in]

Craving the old steak and our group decided to hit Gothams. Promptly seated by the Hostess with a smile. One thing for sure is the ambience in this place is one of the best. Service to match but when you think about it, you should be getting this kind of stuff for what you;re paying. Ordered the Prime Rib but unfortunately wasn;t cooked to my deside which I requested rare. Although most chefs and servers have different opinions on what a rare steak looks like my was definately prepared medium. It wasn't juicy and for the price could've had a better bite at the Keg. Asides from my rib, the other guests loved their food. Bottles of wine are fairly priced depending on your budget!

Great place to mingle and chat. Small share plates are creative and definately very tasty. Prices avre average with the share plates such smal portions depending on your appetite prepare to order 5 to 6 plates between two people. Love their wines by the glass selection. Average price including a decent bottlf of wine for two about $150.00 wih taxes and tips. Servers are great and are very friendly !

The pan asian concept seems great. Different selections from all Asian cuisines. Food is pretty good but its just something about seeing a Non Asian cooking Asian food. I remember seeing the same experience at a PF Changs in LA and saw Mexicans cooking our Chow mein. LOL. I guess its all about the preparation sauces maybe ?

Decent You get What you pay for
Submitted Sunday, September 10, 2006 - 7:22pm [Dine in]

Decent place for a weekend Dim Sum lunch. The location is ok but in comparison to other fav dim sum joints, Golden Swan is reasonable. I assume their Shrimp balls are cheaper than other Chinese Restaurants in Downtown or Granville Street because of its location. Busy joint and yes its quite loud. Food is quite good especially for value for the buck. Ambiance is what it is for its location. Washrooms on the other hand...mmm well its not very clean. Service is pretty good with alot of non english speaking staff but they smile and are courteous and quick. Havent been there for dinner yet but I'll stick to this joint for its cheap Dim Sum !

Simply Bad
Submitted Saturday, September 9, 2006 - 9:43pm [Dine in]

Craving for Thai last night and ended up in Yaletown. This place is right across from the Opus Hotel. Arrived around 730pm and the place was quiet. Only four other tables in the restaurant and we were promptly seated. Waitress took our drink order and rudely suggested we try something else because they were out of stock. Recommending another bottle of wine is one thing but suggesting it with an attitude is another. Anyways, we ordered our food after sipping our wine. Upon receiving our food we were asked if we wanted steamed rice with our meal which we declined as we had noodles and fried rice as our carbs. 20 minutes into our dinner we were again asked if we wanted rice but we kindly told our server we're okay with our fried rice and noodles. Rudely again she said "Ok then"... That topped off our perception of this simply bad restaurant. Food was ok but the Service was absolutley Terrible. Big thumbs down.

This place is definately happening. Great martinis especially the Tin Tin with Puree. The Food is ok but the service is awesome. Best thing we ate there was the Yam Fries. Dunno what it is but those Yams are addicting, kinda like Lays Potato chips.
Love the brick wall setting and the restaurat ambience is great.
Make reservations or plan to wait in line like we did. Nice decor.

As a newbie to this site I think its best to write some info about one of me and my fiancees favourite places to eat. The food is great but the service is truly amazing. Unlike other asian restaurants we are always greeted with a smile. If you go try the pineapple fried rice !
