Place for the perfect service
Submitted Thursday, September 1, 2011 - 1:41am [Dine in]

One thing that is just so outstanding about Red Ginger... a great service that make you feel like you are their family guest. Kam always makes a point on visiting your table, saying hello and asking how the food is... makes you feel so welcome. Other servers are great too, that they come by so often to refill your water. As for the food.... if you really want better "tasting" food, then go to Banana Leaf instead. The potion is really large but the food taste somewhat bland. My husband and I have tried about 12 dishes there so far, and found Ginger Chicken and Chicken Lettuce Wrap the tastiest.

There are a lot of 2-for-1 coupons available for this restaurant on local newspapers like Georgia Straight, Vancouver Courier and Westender since it is fairly a new restaurant. So the value has been just phenomenal, and it is worth a try with coupons.

What happened to those bottomless fries???
Submitted Thursday, September 1, 2011 - 1:32am [Dine in]

After all, Red Robin is Red Robin..... they serve burgers. They are not the best burgers you ever eat, but they are solid. But what happened to so-called bottomless fries???? When I ordered my burger, I could count the number of fries with both my hands... they were only about 9! I had to order extra fries twice to get the volume they used to give. Stingy.

Service varies depends on which servers you get. All of them are "nice" but some of them are really slow. Perhaps a good idea to ask for a pitcher of pop beforehand so you don't have to wait for the server to come and ask to get your refill.....

Best Pad Thai
Submitted Thursday, September 1, 2011 - 1:21am [Dine in]

I agree with other reviewers here - great food, not so good ambiance. Even from outside, the restaurant looks kind of daunting and perhaps spooky, even. But the food at this restaurant will not disappoint you. They have the best Pad Thai (without those nasty ketchup thing) in town, and "Swimming Angel" (Chicken with peanut sauce over the bed or spinach) has such lovely taste. The price was really good too - my husband and I dined, order 3 dishes and 2 bowls of rice and the total was roughly around $40. Great value, and great food. Recommended!
