Lovely Lunch
Submitted Monday, June 8, 2009 - 5:53pm [Dine in]

A girlfriend and I decided to stop in for lunch and we were very pleased. Good spicy caesars. I had a grilled veggie sandwich and caesar salad. Simple but excellent. The sandwich was on a very crisp french bread with grilled asperagus, red pepper and portabello mushroom, topped with gooey melted mozza and a flavourful grainy mustard mayo. It was just right. My salad was garlicy and very parmesany. My dining companion enjoyed a spinach and goat cheese salad with seared seafood. We were both very satisfied. Delish lunch, decent price. Would go again if in the area.

My dining companion and I decided to duck out early from birdwatching (duck!) to grab some grub. Neither of us is familiar with the area, but the patio umbrellas lured us. I had cod and chips with slaw, he had halibut and chips. My peice of cod was fresh and delicate, breaded with panko, a lighter crispy alternative to the standard beer batter. My slaw was flavourful and very fresh, and the fries were nice, homecut and just salty enough. Good tartar sauce as well. Topped with a couple spicy Caesars, it was a really great impromtu dinner. The patio is great, casual, nice view of the water and surrounding flora. Our server was great as well.

Delicious Caribbean to go

I've driven past this place a million times in my life. Based on reviews here, I made a point of dropping in for a lunch of chicken roti (medium), a beef patty and a grape soda. The ambiance is somewhat stark, but there was good music playing and it was warm like the islands. The roti bread itself was the highlight; thin, chewy, fresh, multi-layered and delicious. The roti was massive, filled with chicken thigh, potatoes and a nice melange of spice. You could easily share it and still feel satisfied. The patty was suprisingly good. Crispy and flaky crust, really flavourful filling. The food was really fresh and hot, and I must say a welcome change to the other fast food options in the area. I'll be back to try some veggie options.
