Meh...in no rush to return

Service definitely not professional and very disorganized, which is completely unacceptable for the type of restaurant and price point. Our server was not very attentive. She took forever to take our order and then disappeared. The food was served by someone else. The table was cleared by noisily stacking plates on top each other then topped with all the cutlery. To get the bill, we waited a long time and then resorted to waving for anyone's attention. It was not busy that night - maybe about 5 tables were occupied.

The food was very good. The amuse bouche at the beginning was a nice touch but nothing to write home about. The halibut was cooked perfectly - seared slightly on the outside and very yummy. My dining companions were very happy with the steak and the frites were crispy and lightly salted.

Cheese menu was intriguing - a wide and interesting variation. We selected 4 cheeses for dessert and although delicious the portions were miniature - about the size of a toonie! Please explain how to share such a small piece of cheese?

The cocktail list is phenomenal...and way too long. We all lost interest after 6 pages and ended up ordering a bottle of wine. The price range for wine is too wide. Very little choice but to order $65 or $70 bottle for something decent.

Ambiance is great. Love the blue chairs. Would like to come back one day for a cocktail...but not anytime soon. There are many bistros to choose from with similar food quality but with way better service and prices.

Been here a number of times and experience has been consistently good. Classic french bistro with alsatian options and good value for quality of food. Love the duck confit and onion tarte. Have tried almost everything on the menu and so far everything has been yummy. Most recent meal was the lamb cheeks, delicious!

Great atmosphere, the place definitely captures the ambience of a parisian bistro. Service is a bit inconsistent though. Generally attentive but there have been off nights: I asked for water twice one evening and did not receive a drop!

Overrated and outdated

Good atmosphere to hang out if you don't get out much. We were seated by the front window, a great spot for people watching but the bench table was ridiculous! Seriously poor design for the bench table - it had this awkward gap in the middle that was not wide enough to be functional such as fitting a bottle of wine or a wine glass but wide enough to wreak havoc e.g. wine glasses toppling over if you weren't paying attenton or your share plate to go bouncing.

The food is awful for the price! The share plates were terrible value and not at all creative. With the exception of lobster risotto, everything was cold...imagine cold lamb curry...blech! The prawn salad roll (vietnamese style) had been sitting out way too long so that the rice wrapper was dry and chewy.

The service was decent but a bit off...I'm not a big fan of having the server place my napkin on my lap when I haven't even looked at the menu! It's almost like they're trying to be something that they clearly are not.

So yeah, great place if you like to spend a lot of money for nothing much, being in a pretentious climate and being treated poorly!

You must provide a credit card to secure your reservation, risk incurring a charge on your credit card if you are late or if you cancel your reservation within 4 days of arrival, be charged an automatic gratuity of 20% and be rushed out by a certain time. Another gem from the Glowbal Group!

Too much hype. Average

I don't understand the rave reviews and for me, this restaurant is not worth the trip out to Fraser/Kingsway. The ambiance is great; busy, good vibe and you feel like you are in a french bistro. Service is casual but competent. The food is another story. I had the duck confit and what a disappointment; it was dry and tiny with hardly any meat! It looked so sad surrounded by a few frisee leaves and 2 baby potatoes cut into halves with a drizzle of red wine reduction. This definitely the worst duck confit I had ever eaten...is it justified by the low price point? Frankly, I would rather pay a few dollars more for something of higher quality somewhere else.

However, my friends enjoyed their meals so I hope I to be fair by giving an average rating.
