Terrible
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2015 - 3:21pm [Dine in]

Used to be a great deli for many years under different owners. Had the worst pastrami sandwich of my life. It was small & so salty I could barely finish it. Sort of self serve & asked for water which you needed to fight the salt but never got it. The sandwich was small & got cole slaw which was ok & it was $ 14.75. Never go back

Great View
Submitted Wednesday, August 25, 2010 - 4:10pm [Dine in]

This restaurant has a stunning view from it's location at Londsdale Quay. I wish I had time to have a beer as they had a great selection of English Beers. The food is a little more expensive than expected but the quality was fairly good. They have a gret patio which was full of people enjoying a great sunny day enjoying that English Ale

Water Please!!
Submitted Monday, August 23, 2010 - 2:51pm [Dine in]

A nice little diner with the owner doing the tables and taking cash. What always suprises me is he always seems to look at my empty water glass and never fills it. I decided last time not to leave a tip so I will see if next time he fills up my glass. Very good food and well priced and always comes to your table very quickly

Instead of Hon's???
Submitted Saturday, August 21, 2010 - 11:57am [Dine in]

I noticed Hon's is in receivership and the place is going downhill so I thought I would give this restaurant a try.I was suprised as the restaurant was full and I was the only non- Asian there. The servers, however, spoke English & they had a lot of Western dishes available. The food was ok and service was quick

Nothing Has Changed
Submitted Tuesday, August 17, 2010 - 3:16pm [Dine in]

I haven't been to this place for over 20 years and nothing has changed and it looks really dated. I ordered a pizza which looked great until I started eating and it was swimming in sauce and wasn't fully cooked. They only had one server working who was to busy to replace my order but would have done so if I had asked-- She was excellent. My two friends thought their lunch was ok but wouldn't go back

Empty Restaurant
Submitted Wednesday, July 7, 2010 - 11:08am [Dine in]

Went there the other day for lunch and had a great meal. Probably had one of the best servers ever and the food was first rate. They recently changed the name of the restaurant and made major changes and the place is stunning. Couldn't quite figure out why there were no customers in such a nice restaurant so perhaps they do a better dinner business than lunch. I will return

Looking Older
Submitted Wednesday, July 7, 2010 - 11:01am [Dine in]

I haven't been to the Joh B for a while and noticed the place is starting to look tired. The carpets need to be replaced and the place needs a rennovation. I don't think , however, that look affects their business as the place was quite full. The food was tasty & we had a really good server so we probably go back in spite of the needed updates

Hasn't Chaged In Years
Submitted Thursday, June 17, 2010 - 2:51pm [Dine in]

I used to work in the area 12 years ago & went to the On Lok 2-3 times a week. I was in the area yesterday and stopped by for lunch. I recognized one waiter & two regular customers and noticed the place hasn't been updated. I also noticed the prices haven't really changed. I had roast pork with bean curd, vegetables, ginger and onion sauce and unlimited tea and the bill was $ 5.70 and it tasted just great. I shall return !!!

Great Sandwich
Submitted Wednesday, March 17, 2010 - 1:29pm [Dine in]

Tiny little plave with five tables. They make home made potato chips served with Salsa-- outstanding !! The sandwich is served with really good bread & is quite spicy but good. A sandwich, chips and drink was $ 13.50 but it was very filling. The place is spotless including the wash room

Don't order the Double unless you are very hungry especially if you include fries. The Double was juicy and enough fries for three people. The place is new and spotless inluding the wash rooms. I could see parking could be a problem if the place is busy but I will go back in the next couple of weeks to order a single burger and not the double

Best Valu In The Lowe Mainland
Submitted Wednesday, November 4, 2009 - 8:06pm [Dine in]

Heard about the great Asian food here and was very happy with the great valu. They have a great selection to choose from and for $ 6.95 you get four dishes plus rice and also soup.. The service was really good and everything was very fresh due to the many people ordering the food. They also have a bakery with excellent products as well as a counter selling dim sum food such as pot stickers and steamed rolls. I don't know any other place where you can eat at such a low price and the food was really good

Deep Fried Pickles !!
Submitted Saturday, October 31, 2009 - 9:55am [Dine in]

Yes one of their special dishes is deep fried pickles which my companion ordered and I tried one---- Ugh!! Great fish & chips with a great ocean view. We had a great server and noticed theu have a take out counter which was very busy. A very small place a which was clean & cozy. Some people didn't notice that they must feed the parking meters near the beach and lots of cars were getting tickets

Interesting Place
Submitted Tuesday, September 8, 2009 - 10:03pm [Dine in]

Looking at this restaurant from the outside it looks very new. Upon entering this place it looks like part of it is quite old and the other part of the place looks fairly new. We sat in the older part and the carpets look they have been around for many years and the tables and chairs could have been in service for many decades. The lunch menu is very simple with Burgers, Sandwiches, Soups and Salads and a couple of Mexican Dishes. Our server was working very hard but because the place was so busy we had to wait for everything. All in All just very average food but a very interesting place to visit

Nice Atmosphere
Submitted Monday, September 7, 2009 - 3:43pm [Dine in]

For many years we have gone to Earle's down the street but they have done rennovations there and it is now just like a large sports bar so we decided to try Cactus Club. Very similar to Earle's but the main difference is I could hear what my companion was saying unlike Earles where the noise levels are riidiculous. We had great service with tasty food and the ambience was very relaxing.

Used To Be Better
Submitted Monday, September 7, 2009 - 3:34pm [Dine in]

I agree with the last review. I have eaten there a while back but last week I went for take out. I ordered half a chicken and it must have been a small bird as the portion was small. It was very dry and I guess over cooked and had no flavour just like the rice that came with it. The service was good and I wish I could say the same about the food.

A Little Greasy But Good
Submitted Friday, August 14, 2009 - 6:05pm [Dine in]

Have been to the fish & chip restaurant next door & I think the fish & chips are slightly better than Moby Dicks however Moby's is a nicer restaurant but both could do with rennovations. You order two pieces of fish & you get three. I thought the fish was excellent but the fries weren't at all crispy and both of us found them greasy. It is a small diner but they have lots of servers so the food came quickly & we had a nice view of the ocean so it made for a nice lunch

Interesting Ambience
Submitted Thursday, July 23, 2009 - 1:45pm [Dine in]

Bosa Foods are a huge Italian Food Importer.Attached to their huge warehouse is a great Italian mini supermarket with an excellent meat department as well as a very good deli. The deli serves excellent paninis as well as other sandwiches and drinks including very good coffee. There are tables & chairs outside and you would almost think you were in Italy as most of the customers are Italian.

Great Sliders
Submitted Wednesday, July 22, 2009 - 2:19pm [Dine in]

I must admit I never even heard of sliders but the newspaer did a story on them today. Milestone's has them as an appetizer but they really could be classified as a meal. What you get is three mini Burgers plus I ordered a side salad so it was a very filling meal. We had a great server who was always filling our glasses and was right there with the bill when we completed our meal. A nice experience and the place was ultra clean including the wash rooms.

Submitted Tuesday, July 21, 2009 - 10:15pm [Dine in]

Have gone to this location for years & have always enjoyed it. Went last week & much to my suprise the place has had a complete face lift. It looks good but the only problem is the acoustics are terrible and you can't hear conversation from your dining companion. They also have lots of TV's playing plus loud music. As I am older I thought it was me but our server tells us that lots of her clients are complaining. My buddy who enjoyed his lunch doesn;t want to go back as it was impossible to discuss business in that atmosphere. For the first time I also had a meal that was not up to Earle's standards but I will give the place one more try.
