Uncle Fatih's Pizza1685 Broadway East, Vancouver
horrible service
Submitted Thursday, September 15, 2011 - 7:02pm [Delivery]

I tried to like this pizza place, thinking that it's popular for a reason. The first time I ordered the service was great, I appreciated how they called me after I placed an order online to reconfirm and the man was friendly. The pizza itself was ok, I've had better though. The second time I ordered, wanting to give the pizza another chance the website wouldn't accept my order for some reason so I called in instead. The man who picked up was adrupt and failed to ask what time I wanted my pizza and whether it was delivery or pick up. When I first tried the delivery option online it stated that they cannot deliver to my address so it didn't occur to me that I should ask when calling in. It would've been his responsibility to ask me anyways. I got to ufc and after the same man who had taken my order flipped through all of his order forms he informed me that it was being delivered to my house as we speak. I asked him why he had assumed I wanted delivery and he said that it was because I had mentioned that I had first tried the website when I called inm as if it was my fault. I started to tell him that the website said it delivery service was not offered for my area and he interrupted saying that it's on it's way and to 'go home'. No apology, no smile, he interrupted me, AND I managed to arrive home 5 minutes before the pizza arrived. It was lukewarm. Bad attitude for lukewarm pizza. I have no reason to ever return.

incredibly disappointing

I never thought highly of Indian food after only having tried what Vancouver had to offer until a recent visit to London changed my perspective. Craving for the taste I had experienced in London, my friends and I decided to try this restaurant for dinner. The first thing we noticed was all the servers are... not Indian. The first main strike against this restaurant though, was that the food took 50 minutes to arrive. There were only three tables (including ours) filled. After having waited close to 40 minutes we were informed upon inquiring that there was only one chef working. The food itself was a far cry from what I was waiting for. In fact, it was worse than the 'vancouver indian food' that had turned me off from this cuisine to begin with! It was boring and tastless. It was salty enough, but the food lacked flavour. None of my friends enjoyed their meals. At $14.95 an entree that consists of a small dish of whatever it is that you order (be it butter chicken, chicken tikki masala, etc) and a side of either rice or naan bread, I highly disagree with the person who marked this place as 'cheap eats'. I will definitely not be returning

great food but..

delicious, freshly baked goods for reasonable prices. i absolutely adore their white chocolate berry scones. service is hit or miss. I had a awesome experience a few years ago where the cheerful sales gave me free bread because it was my second visit within the same hour because he recognized me and i brought my own bag. I went again last week and the salesgirl didn't even crack a smile during the entire time. no thank yous, i stood there waiting for a few moments after the transaction because i had assumed that she would hand me my purchases but no, she just left them on the side of the counter closest to her. If it weren't for the pleasant experience I had had a few years ago my opinion of cobs would go way down

I've had poor experiences during my last two visits. I came here last Mother's day with my mum and we had ordered the Santorini Chicken Salad. The salad came with wilted vegetables, three limp looking pieces of chicken and no feta cheese. We tried it but it looked so unappetizing that we decided to give up trying to eat it. Thankfully a waitress came by to ask us how our meal was and we basically told her that while our other entree was delicious, the salad well...sucked and she immediately offered to switch it for something else for us, which we happily agreed to. I visited this particular white spot again last month and ordered the salmon burger after having been recommended it by many friends. The waitress asked me whether I wanted yam fries or normal fries. I asked for just normal fries but when my order came, it was just a burger sitting alone awkwardly on a large plate. she said that it was because they had ran out of the smaller plates - which is fine, except for the fact that there were no fries. I asked her where my fries were and she said that it dosen't come with fries. I then asked her why she asked me what type of fries I would like then and she said that it was just a recommendation but that if I paid extra she can give me some fries. I thought it was very strange but let it go at the time because it was my first time trying it. I've verified with 4 other people who have had this burger before (at the same location) since then and everyone said that they've always had (free) fries come along with their burger. it's unbelieveable.

the decor is beautiful, the service awesome but the food is very hit or miss. I ordered the salmon fish and chips and a lobster mash potato. the mash potato was more delicious than I had ever expected. highly recommended. the fish and chips however wasn't that great. the fish was rather tasteless imo and a bit too oily. the chips were half soggy because it's seated under the fish. the coleslaw was very good (probably the best part of the dish) but i didn't like how it was plated with the rest of the food because the dressing ran into some of the chips which resulted in more soggy chips. overall it was too oily for my taste. I tried my friend's lobster mac n cheese and found the taste to be rather bland. Pricing wise it is what I would've expected from a restaurant like Coast but it's too bad the food didn't match up.

cute restaurant with nice decor but my main complaint is that the soup base is much too salty. Pricing is ok (average $7) with medium size portions (smaller than kintaro, larger than santouka in my opinion) but there are better ramen resturants out there. I definitely won't be returning anytime soon

delicious but pricey

in terms of food quality, santouka is by far my favourite ramen restaurant in vancouver. The portion sizes are just perfect for my appetite but i always warn my guy friends that they won't be full eating here on an empty stomach as it is rather small. Price in the whole is also higher than any other ramen place i have ever been too.

interesting decor and the desserts themselves are ok. i tried the apple custard crisp and found it to be too sweet for my liking. my friend found her creme brulee to be just average but the chocolate pudding cake is pretty good. value wise though i think that it's pretty overpriced for what they give you. i wouldn't bother going back again

I visited this restaurant with a friend for brunch one morning and we both ordered the omelette and waffle. the omelette looked good and it was ok but i didn't like it too too much because of the herbs used. very filling dish but i won't be reordering on my next visit. I also ordered a hot chocolate but felt that it wasn't hot nor sweet/flavourful enough.

then there was the waffle. oh my i didn't know a waffle could be so scrumptious! it was a bit crispy, sweet...simply outstanding. I loved it so much!! we ordered milk chocolate lavender and white chocolate pistachio rosewater sauce to go along with our waffles. both are highly recommended!

overall i would definitely visit this place again. I do think that it's overpriced but...the waffles are definitely worth it.

a disappointment
Submitted Tuesday, April 27, 2010 - 8:37pm [Dine in]

after drooling over the online menu my friends and I decided on having dinner here. I ordered a hayashi omurice and the cinnamon sugar toast. My friend the tuna toast. When the food arrived it looked delicious but the taste is a whole different story. curry rice pilaf does not work well in a omurice. it has a very...boring? taste. the toast tastes in my opinion exactly like cinnamon sugar mini donuts - extremely ordinary. My friend took a few valiant bites of her tuna toast but soon gave up on the account that the bread was very chewy and it was hard to cut. She ended up with a unappetizing mess of bread and ketchup.
I noticed that almost all the rice dishes on the menu uses curry rice pilaf. pity...i would've loved to give the other items a try. but just thinking about the rice is enough to convince me that I'll probably be in for another disappointment. Perhaps I'll go again to see how their parfaits are.

excellent crepes (strawberry strawberry cheesecake <3) for a very reasonable price but the wait time is absolutely ridiculous. My friend and I came on a late wednesday afternoon and although there was a fair number of customers already present, with 3 people working it shouldn't take them 20+ mins to fill an order. I'll give this place another try when they decide to hire more people.

Submitted Tuesday, December 22, 2009 - 10:41pm [Dine in]

I visited this place with two friends based on another friend's recommendation. The restaurant is decorated nicely and has a comfortable ambiance but that's pretty much where the positives end. It took 45 minutes for our orders to come out which is a ridiculously long time, especially considering how small the restaurant is. After the initial half hour had past we asked one waitress what happened with our order. She never got back to us and when we asked a second waitress, she said that they were cooking it, but then proceeded to walk over to the computer and enter something in. I have a feeling she forgot to enter our orders. I wish I could say that the food was worth waiting for but it wasn't. The ramen as one of my friends described, tastes like instant noodles. Soggy instant noodles to be exact. I was not impressed by this place.

i always pass by this place but never knew that they served Japanese food until searching on dinehere last night. today I came to this restaurant to buy some buns based on another reviewer's suggestion. Unfortunately they didn't have white chocolate, sweet potato or cookie because i had wanted to buy one of each kind! they did have apple cinnamon, chocolate, cheese and green tea. the apple cinnamon is delicious, tastes like a soft cinnamon bun with apples. the chocolate has a strong coffee taste and while it was still good i didn't enjoy it as much. green tea was a bit sweet in my opinion but my boyfriend loved it. have yet to try the cheese.

i was impressed by the cute decor so decided to come back for lunch with a group of friends two hours later. I had the teriyaki ground sirloin steak.the patty was a bit soft but delicious. the meal was followed by a dessert of ice cream with cornflakes and coffee jelly.

this place is a tad expensive but i would definitely come back. the server was very attentive and the food was good. it's a great place for a leisure lunch. it's a shame there were so few customers but the quiet atmosphere made the dining experience more enjoyable.

it's a cute and comfortable restaurant. I went here with a friend and we both split the bbq salmon in a fresh dill cream sauce pasta and one of the daily specials, a cheese stuffed pasta. I wouldn't recommend the stuffed pasta - tastes a bit too much like chef boyardee in my opinion. the bbq salmon pasta was delicious. don't be expecting chunks of salmon though because it was barely noticeable but the sauce was good. I also love the free bread! very tasty. the restaurant wasn't full when i went here so the server was very attentive. Wanted to order the meatballs to go but they were sold out and it was only around 2 in the afternoon. overall it's a great place for a simple, quiet lunch

like the other reviews say i have to agree the portion of the Kelftico is quite large, enough for 2 people to share. The meat is very, very tender but personally i think it could use a bit more flavour. also tried their moussaka and it was pretty good, but tastes even better the next day as leftovers.

i was hesitant to try this place because of all the negative reviews the power of wings is ever so compelling. I was pleasantly surprised. while it wasn't the best experience i ever had i didn't think the servers attitudes were bad and the food was pretty good. We tried the louisiana sweet wings (i only had one, didn't like it too much) greek (delicious and crunchy) and a lamb burger (love the lamb but the burger itself is not too impressive looking)
would definitely go again

I love this place. not only is the price cheaper than any crepe store i've ever visited but their menu is versatile - classic crepes such as banana and nutella to more creative ones like red bean green tea.

So far i've had strawberry cheesecake, caramel cheesecake, purin and red bean green tea. my favourite by far is strawberry cheesecake. the cake is fluffy, the strawberry not overly sweet nestled in a bed of creme. DELICIOUS! best crepe i've ever had

my only complaint is that they're closed tuesdays, the day i'm most likely to be in the area. ^^

nothing special about this place. the portions are large and the price decent but the food in my opinion, is rather bland. I ordered the pesto chicken and while it was warm it wasn't hot. I like their wings though. It would help if they seasoned it before cooking but the crunchy skin and sauce is delicious. While I wouldn't mind having to go back, I wouldn't choose to eat here again. Not interested in trying anything else in the menu except maybe the wings..

i ordered the dolsot bibimbap and used a moderate amount of hot sauce. Seeing my reaction to the spiciness and hot temperature of the food one of the hostess kindly took pity and came back with a large medium-large sized bottle of water plus a cup. whether it was to save herself the trips or for my convenience I don't know but the water was greatly appreciated. I absolutely love dolsot bibmbap so the pain was worth it. very delicious! the price is slightly higher than other korean restaurants i've been to but if given the chance i wouldn't mind eating here again.

the portions are huge but the quality of the food is just ok. it's fun the first time you go and probably worth the long line up because of the portion sizes but once the novelty has worn off i wouldn't choose again. My friend and I shared a alfredo with chicken and it was decent enough but not good enough that i would return to the restaurant or want to bother taking any leftovers.
