Ambiance hits you first - and it's pretty cool, although there's a lot of scotch tape holding it together. Seemingly indifferent service from the waitron. The burgers are quite tasty, good toppings - although most you have to pay extra for. Fries are alright, tasty but a little thin. CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE SO GOOD! However, as tasty as the food is, it's overpriced (4.95$/milkshake plus 0.50$ for malted.) Overall I'd say it's worth it if you're hungry enough to want a giant meal and don't mind paying for it.
Dinner at the bar with some friends tonight. Our server was indifferent to us for the first 3 dishes (maybe because we're students?), then another and much friendlier server took over. The food was great, lamb loin and desserts were the best, the mussels were just alright. I will return again, but expecting better service.
Also vies for best lunch and best dinner. Very tasty chicken shareafjavqwaha (spelling?) at a decent price. Drinks are a bit steep in comparison. I think the owner employs unfair business tactics, the scent covers an entire block and draws customers away from other restaurants..
Ok, mixed emotions about tonight. It was all wonderful, except for one point, which isn't really their fault - but it still needs to be said. The deep fried pike was very tasty, but some of the innards were left in. This was my first experience with whole pike so I dove right in......pretty much as bitter as Scrooge on a stat holiday. *shudder* Aside from that, there was good service considering the restaurant was full, and the food was excellent. Highlight was the tataki style bonito- fabulous.
OK, so Go Fish is a little too "yuppie" for my liking - the food is good enough to bring me back. Everything's good, but the fish and chips are easily the best price. Not too much to say about it, good seafood, good scenery, good location.
After reading the other reviews I had high hopes for this place. The food, however, was sub-par. It was not served very hot, and it was mostly bland. The chai tea was pretty good.
Service was laid back, and the relaxed atmosphere fit very well with the room.
This was a hard one to rate. I really wanted to give it high grades, but it just didn't make it. While our server was very cool, and the busser oh-so-hot, the food just didn't make it. The dishes were too busy. The tuna carpaccio had chili oil, endive, and guacamole, but it would've rocked with only the chili oil. The salmon was served atop a cream sauce with mushrooms and shrimp. Salmon to me should feel clean, not taste like a flour-thickened mushroom soup. Desserts were great, however, and so were the fresh oysters. So while it was a fun evening, it was more the company and the service that did it.
While the food is not adventuresome, sometimes it is an excellent choice. Imagine a rainy day walking down Commercial after having a bad food experience the night before (say: a bad oyster at a new restaurant.) Where to go? Arriva! Solid food, service, and price.
Yay! A good place to eat in Metrotown! A lot of tables crammed in, still with waits. Good dim sum prices, a little pricey for dinner though. Service is very good (really) for a Chinese restaurant. The food is outstanding, deep fried (chicken? squab?) with a nice crispy skin, good greens, sui mai, ha gow, etc. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's the best choice in or near Metrotown, either that, or Top Gun Hot Pot accross the street at Crystal Mall.
Very good value for the money, with good fresh sushi. Little ambiance, but servers are alert and the tea flows as it should. Very busy location, perhaps the cause of the freshness, which is worth waiting if you have to. Highly recommended.
Wow, expensive burgers much? Oh well, at least it should be amazing... Sorry. It was... well it was a burger, nothing special, and the onion rings were disappointing. Chocolate shake was tasty, though. The restaurant is nice enough, although I'd much rather take out to the beach. The staff are nice enough too. I doubt I'll return as there are so many other options worth trying.
It doesn't get much better than having the option of having your soup made with rich broth and fatty pork, and you have that option here. It's cramped which makes it fun, and you shouldn't really expect to have great service, but in my opinion, this only adds to the restaurant.
Memphis blues just makes me happy. Is there anything better than pulled pork and baked beans with blues in the backround? I don't think so. As for service... is there any service, whenever I'm there it seems I get stuck doing the legwork.
