Fun, Lively, Great Food, Great Beer. I would recommend checking the Shadow out just to enjoy a real pub.
When I go there I usually stick to their burger selection and the food is always fresh and tasty. Service is good but can be hit or miss depending on how busy it is. The beer selection is also wide and varied.
I've been going there for at least the last 10 years and always recommend this place.

I visit HP weekly for my Friday night take out and always enjoy the food. I like trying new things so I think I have ordered everything off the menu at least twice.
Nothing bad on the menu and my favorites include: Paneer Chili, Chili Chicken, Prawn Curry, and the garlic naan, and for dessert they have a great ice-cream mud pie.
The only dish I haven't liked is the soya curry, which had a strange texture, I'm just not a fan of soya I guess. And, I don't believe it is on the menu anymore.
Beer selection is actually quite good for when I dine in. Kingfisher beer is a strong suggestion when eating Indian curries.
Service is always excellent which next to the food is the biggest selling feature.
This place is great to meet up with friends over a pint of brew and wind down the evening. - Really nice Ambiance with a lot of woodwork giving it an old school irish pub type of feel.
The food menu is a pretty standard pub offering - everything that I have tried has been good - with no bad standouts. However, I have really had good service everytime I've come which, along with a nice beer selection, is the reason why one goes to a pub.
I give it two thumbs up.
I visited the Gillnetter awhile ago and just didn't like the food. Fortunately, I gave it a second chance and the food actually turned out to be not just good but actually pretty great.
The view is amazing and I would say that this place has one of the best patios in Vancouver. Unfortunately, the service was kind of poor - again, I think it was just a bad night.
I'd give it a second shot - try the seafood pasta it was really good! Also, the patio over looks the Fraser river - it is a great view on a summer evening.
