Will never dine here again...
Submitted Tuesday, September 13, 2011 - 11:23am [Dine in]

A friend was visiting so a group of us went to Marcello's on a Friday night. We asked for 4 separate bills as we were a group of 8. Our waitress initially didn't seem to have a problem with this, but when it came to bill time, you would think she was re-programming the restaurant computer system. It took over 20 minutes to get our bill & it was still incorrect. She did not even ask us if you wanted dessert or coffee. This is the second time we have had a dismal waitress at this restaurant. This place is always very busy but I think it is all an illusion...My meal on this visit (cannelloni) was subpar. Also, this restaurant is so loud, it becomes positively unbearable. It would be difficult if you had hearing issue. All in all, a very dismal visit which we won't be repeating.

Lovely bistro on fabulous Bowen Island

My husband & I recently stayed at a B&B on Bowen & dined at Tuscany for dinner. The ambience is quite groovy as it obviously used to be a private house. We were seated downstairs near the pizza oven. The food is exceptionally good. My husband had penne carbonara & it was delicious. Having had a few bad meals out recently, I appreciated the quality of the food. It's quite kitchy how they write the daily specials on a blackboard as well. The service was very good. All in all, a terrific meal. We'll be back for sure!

Overrated in the press
Submitted Friday, July 17, 2009 - 10:27am [Dine in]

My husband & I recently tried this Thai restaurant which was getting glowing reviews in the local press. Needless to say, we were overwhelmingly disappointed. For a previous "gourmet" restaurant which was supposedly downscaling due to the economy, I found It to be very pretentious. The food was mediocre at best & grossly overpriced for the portion size. The critics have been falling over themselves complimenting Maenem, but our experience, aside from the great service, was completely dismal. Needless to say, I had to go home & have a large snack to compensate for my grumbling stomach...We would have dined at the Noodle Box down the road for half the price, where the food is delicious & reasonably priced for the quantity & quality.
