Cedar Cottage Coffee House1303 Kingsway, Vancouver
Cute Place, Good Food

This is my go to place when I need to study but don't want to travel too far from home. Before I was vegan I used to eat the tofu pot pie and carrot cake all of the time. Amazing! Seriously, the tofu pot pie is the equal to any chicken pot pie I've ever had pre-veg, and the carrot cake is perfect, moist, nicely spiced with a generous portion of cream cheese icing. My son loves it. The rainbow chip cookies are pretty good. They have vegan options as well, though I've yet to try them. My staple drink is an iced Americano. I'm pretty picky (no Starbucks iced Americanos for me!) and I found theirs to be quite good, if not the best I've ever had. Almost all of the food is made in-house (minus the cinnamon buns and the bagels), which is a nice change from the frozen, thaw and bake (or just thaw!) that usually occurs in most coffee houses.

Aree Thai Restaurant1150 Kingsway, Vancouver, Vancouver
How is this place not packed all the time?????

I just moved to the area this year, and initially I was at a loss as to where to eat. Luckily, I found Aree Thai. I recommend the Pad Thai Tamarind and the Massaman Curry! Aree makes anything vegan if you ask, and is always offering extras such as magnets and ice cream (though I can't eat it) and even spring rolls once, at no extra charge. Seriously nice lady, seriously good food. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.
