Cute and Trendy!
Submitted Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 2:36pm [Dine in]

This was my first time at this bubble tea cafe and it is definitely different from the rest. The look of the cafe itself reminds me of a trendy lounge with big comfy leather booths and nice bluish lights. Servers are dressed in sailor moon-ish outfits. Cheesy but cute. The bubble tea came in large tall glasses and were average price at $4.00 + 0.50 if you want pearls. They didn't have regular pearls but mini pearls which are a quarter of the size of the normal ones. You can easily choke on them since they are so small but tastes the same. They apparentley ran out of the regular ones. Food was decent. Had some fries and a sandwich which both were fresh. Food came promptly and servers were nice and quick. Would come back! Everyone should try this place!

Only worth it after 9pm!
Submitted Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 2:32pm [Dine in]

Pretty decent food and price only if its after 9pm. Had beef udon and beef sashimi both at 4.95 each. The udon was served in a large bowl and was definitely filling. Tried their sushi here before and just tastes like jap-wannabe sushi. Sushi itself is large but not of high quality. Nice looking restaurant though. Very clean and newly renovated. But will only come after 9pm.

Pretty Good Baked Pork Chop on Rice =)
Submitted Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 2:20pm [Dine in]

Was in the area and very hungry so decided to stop by Golden Oscars. Havn't been there lately and normally go to Honolulu because the roads are pretty bad with construction there. Always have my usual baked porl chop on rice. Very yummy and tastes a little better then before. I think they battered their pork chop different or something but it seems extra crispy and they give you two pieces of meat this time. Better yet, NO BONES! You should also try it with the white cream sauce as well. Very yummy. Wouldn't go here deliberatly but only if in the area.

Craving for Vietnamese food so decided to come here again. Ordered the usual rice noodles with meat and spring rolls and MmmmmMm very yummy as usual. The spring rolls seemed to have gotten even better. Very fresh and seemed extra crispy like they used a different skin. Quick and prompt service. A great meal I can count on!

Wouldn't come back unless starving and in the area...
Submitted Saturday, February 23, 2008 - 2:12pm [Dine in]

Hmm well to start the hostess was very rude and unhelpful. I walked in and said "Hi" and he didn't even both to acknowlede me or how many people I was with. Just stood there like a statue until another girl came and said she will be right with us. He obviously hates his job. When we were finally seated from mr. rude he sneezed on his hand 3 times then handed us our menus. how gross and unsanitary. Proceeded to thump away dragging his feet. Didn't bother telling us the specials. We had to hear it from the table next to us while there hostess kindly told them. Our server was kind and prompt but seemed as if she was working there alone with no help. Had to wait on many other tables and you could tell she was tired. We were near the entrance so we were able to see the hostess and he basically was jsut standing around and looking and fixing his hair in the reflection of the glass door. Food was not bad. Had the legendary with salad as did my partner. Gotta love the triple O sauce! Like I said, would only come back if i was really starving and in the area. Because I had much better experiences at other White Spots.

Good but not Great
Submitted Tuesday, February 12, 2008 - 8:50pm [Dine in]

Went with a few friends to eat last night. This place has a mixture of Thai, Malaysian, Chinese and Vietnamese food. Started off with an appetizer platter with spring rolls, satays. minced shrimp on sugar cane and vietnamese ham. It was pretty good but I had better. Their fried rice seemed too peppery. Didn't know what it was suppose to taste like. The food was decent but if you want authentic Thai or Vietnamese then go to another specialized restaurant. But good drink specials. Mango slush for $2.00. May or may not return.

This is probably my next favourite place besides Dragon Ball on King Ed. I love how they actually use fresh teas. My favourite is the Strawberry Green Tea with pearls. You can actually taste the green tea and there are real strawberry chunks in there. Very reasonable price too. I don't go there as much anymore since its winter but it's probably a weekly thing during the summer. Everyone should try it!

Good Dessert buffet..
Submitted Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 8:47pm [Dine in]

Came for DOV and only came for the dessert buffet. The rest of the menu itself was mediocre. Very nice dining environment but took awhile to get our table even though we had reservations. Our server was nice but not prompt. Took her forever to get us some bread. The dessert buffet was soooooo yummy. Many cakes and cookies to choose from. There was also rice pudding, creme brulle and little pudding pots. It was worth it since the dessert buffet alone would have cost $15. I wouldn't go back on a regular night though.

I don't think i'd go back..
Submitted Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 8:43pm [Dine in]

Went here for DOV since the menu seemed pretty good. I never been to the UBC golf club before and didn't really know what to expect. The restaurant itself reminded me of a cabin like the inside of white spot. It was an older crowd in the restaurant and people were overly dressed in my opinion. Server was nice but didn't seem on top of the ball. Took her 5 min to notice that there weren't any spoon with our soup and had the look on her face wondering why we didn't start eating yet. My favourite part of the meal was the cheesecake, fresh and baked. But that wouldn't keep me going back.

Good Service and Good Food
Submitted Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 8:38pm [Dine in]

Another great night at Aqua Riva. Went a few times and had a birthday dinner there before. Service was great and food portions were a good size. Loved the DOV menu and my appetizer was sooooooo yummy and was bigger then I thought it would be. Could have been a mini meal itself. My steak was a bit too salty for my liking but was delicious and you can never go wrong with cheesecake. A great deal for $25. Would definitely go back!

Overrated
Submitted Tuesday, February 5, 2008 - 8:33pm [Dine in]

Went for DOV and have been to Glowbal on another occasion for a friends birthday. This place is trendy and has nice decor but the food was not as great as I thought it would be. If it wasn't for DOV I don't think I would come back. Food is alrite, nothing special and their regular menu is more expensive then it needs to be for the type of food that you're getting. My biggest complaint is the space, there isn't any. You can probably hit elbows with the person sitting next to you at another table. The so called managers just walk around and do nothing in my opinion. Our server was really nice though but all in all would not go back. Oh yeah my boyfriend was surprised that they over charged us and gave themselves a bigger tip then written on the receipt. Kinda shady eh?

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House777 Thurlow Street, Vancouver
a bit disappointed...
Submitted Saturday, December 22, 2007 - 1:26am [Dine in]

I had gone to Joe Forte's previously for dine out and had a great meal so I was expecting the same thing this time when I went with my co-workers. Service was great and server was prompt and quick. Had calamari and oysters to start which were excellent. We all had different types of fish dishes but they weren't that great. One of the plates were cold and not even luke warm and my miso halibut was way too dry. We told the waiter the fish was cold and they apologized and brought it back and even then the fish wasn't hot at all. So we had our dinner but didn't eat everything. We were looking forward to dessert and we had the cheesecake and creme brulle. Creme brulle was also a bit disappointing because it was cold as well and didn't taste the same as previous. The good part I guess of the night was the desserts were on the house since we weren't happy with one of the entrees and the dessert. We also felt a bit sick afterwards. I was really expecting alot from this place but was very disappointed and probably won't go back again unless it was for dine out.

My favourite place for butter chicken!
Submitted Friday, December 21, 2007 - 1:26pm [Dine in]

This is probably the only East Indian restaurant that I ever eat at since they have the best butter chicken in the world. The garlic naan is always yummy and I always leave stuffed. It never seems to be that busy inside but alot of people seem to take out. You can't go wrong with the butter chicken. Service is pretty good, food was quick and waitress checked with us often. Always a pleasant meal at Tandoori King =)

Great food and service.
Submitted Friday, December 21, 2007 - 12:23am [Dine in]

First time at this new location and love the look of it. Sat at a booth near the bar and server quickly came over and gave us menus and we ordered drinks. Ordered prime rib and it was yummy as usual. We had a couple of different servers help us probably 3 or 4 but all of them were friendly. They even gave us all refills without us even asking and were always checking up on us to see if everything was okay. The only part I would complain about are the crowding of people around the table before we even got up to leave. And the second we got up, the next people just swooped right in. I didn't know that the bar side was first come first serve but I think they should at least have a some kinda rule so people aren't crowding around before diners are even finished their food. Other then that, great food and service. Would definitely go back. Parking gets packed quickly after 5pm.

Went there just for a quick bite to eat with a friend. Got the usual bbq chicken wrap with clam chowder and my friend had macho nachos. I think they started to get cheap on the chicken because I swear I could barely taste the chicken in my wrap. The soup was good as usual but could've been more hot. My friends nachos didn't look good at all and there was barely any chicken on hers either. Server was alrite, didn't check on us much and basically paid way more attention to the table right next to us. All in all, would just go to another location if I was craving red robins.

Submitted Friday, December 21, 2007 - 12:03am [Dine in]

My co-workers and I decided to try this restaurant since one of their friends suggested it was a good place to eat and decent prices. We normally go to Tandoori King on Fraser but decided to try this new place out. So we did and when we sat down a waiter gave us our menus and we ordered drinks as usual. Quiet inside maybe 3 tables were occupied. We decided to order chicken pakoras, garlic naan, butter chicken and palao rice which are the usual dishes that we eat. Our chicken pakoras came out first and it was barely even hot, luke warm maybe and one of my friends chicken was PINK inside. We decided to tell the waiter and I guess he was new since he had to check with another guy who i assumed was the boss. We decided to cancel our order and by that time the food was on its way out. The owner suggested that yeah "sometimes one or two pieces are like that, but this food is very good and you should eat it". The waitress stood there and looked all pissed off that we didn't want our food anymore. Well who would want to eat after they could potentially get food poisening? God knows what else would be uncooked. My friend went to throw up in the toilet so she wouldn't get food poisening. We just decided to leave and he still charged us for the wine and drinks, which is kinda rude since we were obviously NOT enjoying the meal. All in all, would NEVER go back.
