The worst japanese I ever had!
Submitted Monday, September 8, 2008 - 10:57pm [Dine in]

My friend felt like having jap food and we were in the area so we decided to try this place. I might have came before but if I did it was a long time ago therefore I did not remember my experience. The place was pretty empty to start. Sat at our table and we took a look at the menu and was wondering where the rest of it was. There is basically half of a menu compared to other restaurants..any other restaurants. Food was pretty over priced but the amount that we got. Nothing seemed appetizing to begin with. We were contemplating leaving before we even ordered but just decided to stay. Order chicken teriyaki and some rolls which were super tiny. The teriyaki didn't even come with rice! Too many staff for such a non busy place..they were busy just chatting with each other and didn't seem to care who heard. Will not come back ever. There are wayy better restaurants out there. Everyone should just pass on this one.

Great Deals!
Submitted Sunday, June 22, 2008 - 1:03am [Dine in]

I normally grab take out from here and you cannot beat the prices. They normally have quite a few items on their "Specials Board" from different rices to noodles priced at 6.75. Portions are generous and I am never disappointed. I havn't tried other items besides the rice and noodle dishes but they are always tasty. The restaurant itself doesn't have much of a ambiance so don't come if you're looking for ambiance. It's a nice little family run restaurant that is quite cozy. If you're craving chinese and in the area, this is a must try!

Totally Going Back!
Submitted Thursday, June 19, 2008 - 10:40am [Dine in]

This small cozy restaurant is quite hidden if you're just passing by. It doesn't scream out come on in or anything. I wouldn't have ever noticed it if my boyfriend didn't want to go inside. I am soooooo glad that I did. It was the lunch hour and they had their lunch bento boxes. I had the bento box A which came with chicken teriyaki w/noodles under, tempura, miso soup, rice, green salad & your choice or california, bc, salmon or tuna rolls. All that for $7.95. What a deal, they also had these other combos where you can choose 3 items from a list and also comes with miso soup & rice for 8.95 but that would have been way too much food for me to finish. I could barely finish my bento box. Staff are super friendly and quick. Ambiance is alright but you definitely will be back for the food. A must try!

love this place!

I come during the lunch hour quite frequently since they have great lunch specials. I normally get one of the bento boxes and it will definitely fill you up. I usually go with Bento Box A which includes miso soup, chicken teriyaki, 6 pieces of gyoza, green salad, gomai, and 6 pieces of dynamite rolls which are not tiny cheap rolls. It is always fresh and I am never dissapointed. The price is even better. $9.95 for all of that and I always have leftovers. The waitresses are always super friendly and quick. They also have other sushi roll combos and rice and noodle dishes reasonably priced as well. This place is always busy during the lunch hour so call for reservations if you're with a larger party. A must try!!

I only come to this place since I live in the neighbourhood. They really need to do something about the heat inside. It is just wayyyyyyyy too hot. The food is decent. Portions are a tad smaller then other places. There definitely isn't enough meat in their vermicelli bowls. I like other places better but this place satifies a pho craving.

Won't be back!
Submitted Saturday, April 26, 2008 - 11:51am [Dine in]

It was a friends birthday and she decided to celebrate at Relish. I have been once to this restaurant before long time ago. We were waiting for a few more people to arrive so when our server asked if we wanted to start off with some drinks, we said we wanted to wait for the rest of the party. Since our party was running late, we decided to order since 20 min has passed by. I'm not sure what the server was thinking but she totally just ignored us until we literally had to shout "excuse me" before she could even give a slight glance. That was just the beginning. When our food arrived, we told her to put the plates in the centre since we were sharing but no she seemed to just ignore that comment and start handing plates for everyone to hold. As if we never told he to "put them in the centre". Food portions were small, there is not much difference between an appetizer size and an entree size. Not once did she check on us after serving us our food, until she had to be shouted at again. So after the rest of our party arrives and she offered to grab them drinks but she didn't even ask if the rest of us were doing okay, and we weren't, we wanted to order more drinks. Right when anyone to get a sentence in to the server she just replies "okay" and leaves when we're not even done ordering! You literally have to talk really fast if you want to finish making an order. It was very ridiculos. At one point, She walked away and we were like we're not done ordering yet! She didn't even seem like she cared. It was quite sad since the restaurant was some what decent but poor service just ruins it all. If I want to be ignored then I might consider coming back.

First time at this place but have been to Samurai before and its basically the same thing. Large sized sushi rolls for a cheap price. You will definitely need a take out box! If you want authentic Jap food, do not come here. This place is for quantity not much quality. Don't expect the freshest fishes. The tuna was too mush and the texture of the salmon was harder then usual. Would come back if in the area and starving!

Better then Burnaby Location!
Submitted Tuesday, April 22, 2008 - 10:58pm [Dine in]

I always knew there was another location but never knew where it was. The location is sorta hidden in a plaza. This location is smaller then the Burnaby one but is more roomy. You're not forced to sit elbow to elbow with other people. You actually have breathing room. It is also pretty packed but not as much as the other location. I always eat the noodle pot and it tastes just as good. What I noticed was the bigger chunks of meat. They were minced up and shredded like the other location. I could actually see them. Will come back more to this location!

Some friends and I wanted chill and relax with some drinks and stuff and one of them suggested this place. It was my first time here and I didn't really have much expectations going into it. A friend suggested a pitcher of pims i think it was called which was delicious. Fresh and fruity just the way I like it. We also munched on garlic mayo fries which were delicious as well. Server was friendly and they had some good music playing from the DJ. Seems like a great hangout place since most of the tables were full. Would definitely come back!

Friends decided to try this place out and we all never been before. Well walking in this place did not look like the typical Vietnamese place with flashing neon lights around. It was sorta like an old italian restaurant that they took over and just maybe gave it a paint job. Same usual items on their menu as other vietnamese restaurants. My friends had pho and I had a vermicelli bowl. Portions seemed smaller then average but taste was pretty good. I only had 3 pieces of meat in my dish but two rolls of spring rolls which was more then enough. I'd rather have more meat then rolls. Decent prices. May be back.

This is my first time at this restaurant and I've been meaning to try it before but never got around to it. I was invited to dinner with a few family friends and we ordered the 6 person tasting menu for $26/person There were 11 items on the tasting menu and all of them were superb. It included appetizers such as roti, satays, papaya salad. Lots of yummy vegetables such as green beans, okra, eggplants in yummy sauces. Mussels, shrimps and scallops were plentiful and the pineapple fried rice was very very generous with lots of stuffing. My favourite was the Crab with sambal sauce i believe. Soooo yummy and very flavourful. Our server was awesome and had a great sense of humour. This place is great!

This was my second time at Cattle Hot Pot and it was just as pleasant as the first time. We made reservations for 5:45pm and it wasn't very busy at that time. They have lots of varieties of meats and vegetables and other side dishes. Servers were very quick and prompt. The only thing I don't like is that fact that they charge you for little items such as garlic and green onion which is 5 cents but they might as well give it to you for free if its that cheap. Other then that, we all left stuffed and happy! Will definitely go back again.

A satisfying meal
Submitted Sunday, April 13, 2008 - 1:38am [Dine in]

My boyfriend and I were craving Vietnamese food so we decided to come to Thai Son. We've been here before quite a few times since it has opened within the last year or so. It was around 6:30pm and this place was packed! I never seen it so full before and we got probably the last two seats that were empty then the line up started coming. You could tell they were trying to rush with everything. We both had lemongrass porkchop with shredded pork on rice. It took probably about 15 min to come which wasn't all that bad considering they were super busy. We were both full and happy with our meal. I really enjoy their rice dishes at this restaurant, they are of generous portions and the marinade for their meats are fantastic. Don't expect special treatment or a nice ambiance for $6.85 a meal. You're here for the food which is always pleasant and you leave full.

Submitted Tuesday, April 8, 2008 - 12:24am [Dine in]

My boyfriend took me here for dinner because he said that their pizzas were pretty good. We went there at 6pm and the place was empty; we were the only ones there. We had baked lasagna and a small pizza. I liked the lasagna more then the pizza. It had a special sauce that was more sweet then salty like other restaurants which made it taste a bit better. There were two sizes for the pasta, small and large and we figured to order the large since we were going to share. It wasn't very big but was filling none the less. The pizza was decent, but I would've just preferred pizza hut pizza. It wasn't greasy though which was probably the only good part of it all. The service was pretty good as it should have since no one else was there. Not much of an ambiance, it could use a renovation. Not sure if I would return.

Submitted Sunday, April 6, 2008 - 4:14pm [Dine in]

I had never heard of this place before until I recently went with a friend. It was pretty busy but understable since it was lunch hour. I looked around and most people were having noodle soups. The sushi rolls were HUGE, not as big as samurai but still large portions. Had a maki combo that came with salmon, tuna and california rolls for $6.50. I couldn't even finish it all. I'm not sure if the sushi chefs are japanese or not. The waitresses definitely were not and they were friendly but just a tad slow. All in all, would definitely go back for cheap eats.

A friend and I decided to drop by and grab a bite to eat. I never been to this place and wasn't really expecting outstanding food but much to my surprise, it was better then I thought. Had spinach dip, chili prawns and penne chicken and shrimp. The spinach dip wasn't cheesy enough, it was basically lots of spinach with some melted cheese on top. I've had better from other places. The deep fried chili prawns were excellent as well as the penne. Large pasta portions and I was definitely full. Service was prompt but not outstanding and could have been better. All in all, would return.

Submitted Tuesday, April 1, 2008 - 8:20pm [Dine in]

Decided to try this place out with a friend since I heard many good things about this place. It was a Monday night so we assumed the wait wouldn't be long since they don't take reservations. It was nice how the staff open and close the door for you. Hostess was very pleasant. Our waiter was nice but wasn't exactly prompt. For the type of food they serve, i think the price was a bit high. There wasn't much variety on their menu. My friend had the cranberry salmon and I had the lobster ravioli. It wasn't worth the $20/plate. I guess I would come back for appies and drinks in the lounge or something but would rather dine else where.

A Very Pleasant Dining Experience
Submitted Saturday, March 29, 2008 - 10:57pm [Dine in]

This is my first time dining at The Cannery. I had a gift certificate to this restaurant and finally decided to use it. We almost got lost coming since you had to go up a passway and drive past the industrial area before you hit the restaurant. This place was packed and we were at a 8:00pm sitting. I knew going in that I wanted the salmon wellington since many reviewers enjoyed it. I had the lobster bisque to start and my boyfriend had the clam chowder, both were excellent, but by the time we were done we were already pretty full. The soup was extremely creamy and a tad on the salty side. My boyfriend had the arctic char which was excellent and my salmon wellington was HUGE. I did not expect such a generous portion. Just half of it would have been a decent size but I could only finish a quarter of it. It was very delicious though. I really needed something refreshing from all the creaminess so we shared the sorbet selection and that was very fresh and fruity. Exactly what I needed after the meal. Our waiter was very nice and helpful, took a little long at times but very friendly. I would definitely come back but maybe stay away from my appy since I couldn't finish my entree. Everyone should give this place a try =)

Me and a friend were craving Korean so we just went to this place since its close by. If we really wanted great Korean food then we would have driven to Coquitlam. Been here a few times and the staff is always friendly. Had the bbq chicken and rice with veggies in a stone bowl. I was expecting the rice to cook on the sides and get crispy since the bowl was hot but it never did. The food was pretty good but I expected a little better. Love the doorbells on the table to get their attention. Would come again but not anytime soon.

I've been to this place a handful of times and my friends and I had a craving for it. If you're looking for great service or a nice atmosphere DON'T GO HERE! If you just want a quick bite to eat for a low cost then this is the place. I know it's not authentic korean hot pot but it's still pretty good. I either have the kimchi hot pot, noodle hot pot or the rice dish. I normally just have the mild flavour and at first you don't taste anything until you're about half way into it the soup base starts to turn red. awkward but good. Decent place since you leave pretty full.
