This place is (no exageration) the best place for dinner on Lonsdale Ave. Let me list the reasons:
-first off the owner/manager is over the top nice and welcoming!
-the ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed and unique (their pendant light fixtures are actually curled incense sticks!)
-the food is great (where approriate the have incorporated okra into their dishes & I have never realized how yummy okra is until I tasted one of their dishes). You have got to try EVERYTHING! (my girlfriend couldn't pin down one things that stood out above the rest because every dish was dilicious and you can tell that alot of thought and effort went into creating every dish). Though I can say that there sauces and dips are particularily note worthy!
-LASTLY, THE RESTAURANT IS EXTREMELY WELL PRICED! You can get an appitizer, three entrees and a botttle of cold sake for under $50 (try and do that at EARLS,...)
IF YOU WANT A TASTY, RELAXING/QUIET DINNER WITH YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER IN NORTH VANCOUVER I CAN RECOMMEND NO OTHER PLACE!
IF YOU WANT A TASTY, WARM DINNER WITH A SMALL/MEDIUM SIZED GROUP OF FRIENDS IN NORTH VANCOUVER I CAN RECOMMEND NO BETTER PLACE!

I am a frequent visitor to Honjin Sushi in North Vancouver for the past couple of years. Sushi makes up about a quater of my diet and therefor I am quite picky about my sushi and that is why Honjin is one a my favourite sushi stops. There are many "must haves" on the menu including "The North Shore Roll", their Spicy Tuna Roll (one of the best spicy sauces I have ever had and I've had alot), Tuna Tataki, Any and all Karages, and the Crab Salad which is covered is mayo and tempura flakes mmmmmm...
Despite the great food, the service is lousy at best and most often rude. The manager (whom my family has nicknamed "THE SUSHI NAZI") is a big a#%hole who leaves a bad taste in my mouth after every great sushi experience. I have unfortunately forgotten his name; however, if you visit this restaurant you will know who I am speaking about and if you ask anybody who requents Honjin about the Sushi Nazi they will know who you are speaking about.
If you want better service try the Yaletown location.
