Zest2775 West 16th, Vancouver Hidden Gem

Quite literally a hidden gem - it is in an out of the way strip mall on West 16th near MacDonald.
Outstanding food delivered in a very Japanese style from the service to the presentation. The menu is a mix of Sushi and Izakaya - the various rolls were great, especially the soft shell crab, as was the sablefish. The chicken karaage was unique and very delicious served with a citrus zest on top, which worked very well. The restaurant room is very modern and stylish, and no plate was over $20. I will definitely go back.
Great staff, lukewarm food.

Our server was great (as was the rest of the staff that dropped by) including chasing me to my car in the pouring rain after I left my credit card. Helpful in making selections as well.
The food was lukewarm when it arrived, particularly the duck duo. It is pre-prepared, as it arrived quite quickly (which was good), but should be served a little hotter. We had the tuna, duck, Korean ribs and beet salad. The salad and tuna were very good but the duck duo was disappointing (not warm enough and dry tasting). The beer and wine selections are great and everything is reasonably priced. I would go back for the service and ambience and ask the server for more advice on what's really good.
