I love this place! I was so surprised that some people don't...I always order the same thing, so try the following and you will be happy: Booze of any kind(!), potatas bravas, garlic prawns, civeche, tomato/onion salad and marinated artichokes. We went there just the other night and spent $47 on those dishes and 1/2 litre of sangria. We were there on a first date and went back for our first anniversary. Maybe it's nostalgia, but we love the place.
The food here is pretty good. It's not like real Indian, but it's still tasty for the most part. The prices are cheap, last time I went you could have an entire meal special-including a glass of beer for $9.95.
The service SUCKS. Much like the NAAM. You better be in your hippy, there is no concept of time mode to make it through this meal without twiching! Line ups are crazy. I've sat inside watching poor suckers stand at the door for a long time while there were empty, uncleared tables. Maybe the servers are stoned and/or have tunnel vision. Once you get your food it's fine, just don't ask for anything else, like your beer to be cold, or to get a clean fork.
This place is pretty good. I've tried to find a really great Indian place in Van., but just can't. I'm still looking. Indian Oven is close and the price is OK. I've only had take out their as my brother recommended it. I love Indian and was soo hoping that this would be the place I've been looking for. Sadly, my search continues....
This place was NOT good! Even with our entertainment coupon, our meal was 40 bucks and NOT worth it. The only good thing about our meal was my Corona-but how can you go wrong with perfection?
I couldn't discern my enchillada from my husbands burrito and niether could our stunned server. No kidding, they were both bathing in some sort of gravy -NOT Mexican tasting one bit! The civeche, which I love at most places was NOT good. The fish chuncks didn't taste fresh, more likely they were frozen and doused in oil. Stale crackers were the accompaniment.
I would recommend, in this order for Mexican places: Los Marghertias, Topanga and Pepita's. If you want Spanish, go to La Bodega. You won't believe how tasty the food is and how inexpensive it is.
Andele's...should go on Kitchen Nightmares.
