Don't look up, don't look down!

Riverside Tavern has been open forever....I remember when I was in high school and my Riverside friends were putting sauce on top of their pizza! Those kids were just weird! LOL, but now we always have Riverside Tavern sauce in the fridge! When you order pizza here its hit or miss though, depends on who's doing the cooking I think. Sometimes its excellent, sometimes its not, and I don't find the dining room very clean so I haven't been there in a while. Still buy the sauce though. Its now available at MR Meat too!
The sauce is sweet!

This is our favourite pizza place....we just started ordering from here about a year ago and we are loving it. The sauce is very sweet and the service is so quick! I think when we order pizza for delivery its here within a half an hour! Its also a small family restaurant that has been in business for many, many years and I like to support the neighbourhood. Maybe I'll order one tonight!
Table for two +
Submitted Friday, August 19, 2011 - 10:53am [Dine in]
I had the Ravioli stuffed with roasted butternut squash & mutzu apples, topped with a bacon, sundried tomato cream sauce. It was very good. My husband said his Veal was good, but the pasta sauce was too oily for his liking. We also tried the Wild Mushroom soup and it was very good. Funny thing though....I had purchased a Groupon Coupon for Mezzo some time ago and it was nearing expiry so I made a reservation for last night (Thursday) for 6:00 pm. We got there and it was virtually empty (due to construction on the street most likely). We had to wait for them to 'clean' our table (remember the place is empty but for 4 other people) and then when they seated us, they put us right next to another table for two...there were 20 other empty tables! We didn't say anything, but then another family came in and they seated them right next to us as well. We were so close I could have held their hands! I was thinking maybe the waitress wanted all her tables close, but we all had different servers! And it was one of those places where they wait for you to take a sip of your water, then rush over to refill your glass! LOL....anyway, the food is good and sometimes George Clooney stops in....you should go! ;)
The flavour is there

I want to love this place, I really do...its really nice inside, the food tastes excellent, however I have had 2 bad experiences and my boss has had one....3 strikes and they are out (my boss and I go out for lunch everyday). First time I went I ordered the Lambourgini (Lamb burger). It was good, different but when I got to the last two bites I bit into really big chunks of gristle (2pc). I gave them another chance. Another time I ordered the Motor Burger. The taste is excellent, the bun is good, the sauce yummy...but more gristle. I have also had the chicken breast sandwich, which was really good. I have probably been there 6 times in all. Some of my experiences were excellent, so I went back. The last time we were there, my boss found a piece of gristle in his burger and that was the last straw for me. I don't know what else to say....wish I could give it a good review as the taste is amazing and the place is amazing, but I can't. Everyone else I know has had good experiences. Maybe its just because I always get the pit in the cherry cheesecake, I don't know....
Pub Club, go for it!
Submitted Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 6:16am [Dine in]
The Kildare offers one of my all time favourite sandwiches, the Pub Club! Its a delicious grilled chicken breast with bacon, lettuce, tomato, melted cheese, and zesty garlic mayo on a pretzel bun....the bun is AMAZING! Never had anything like it. Ingredients are fresh & quality. I have also had the cranberry & spinach salad and it was excellent and a good value. I ordered the fish and chips once, and although it was good, I have never seen such an outrageous amount of food for one person in my life. The fish was as big as the dinner plate and I could only eat half. I feel like I should have been warned when I ordered it that my cousin and I (who also ordered it) could have split it with leftovers. Price was $ 15.99 too....WAY too much for lunch..... I find the prices steep and the portions are too big but its definitely a must try as its very good.
Good sauce, but too expensive for lunch
Submitted Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 4:51am [Dine in]
My husband and I went for lunch just last week. Its really nice inside, however they do pack you in pretty tightly. The specials were posted on the board without prices so I asked, and the waiter seemed irritated with me. The sea bass salad special was $ 21.99!! for lunch?? I ended up ordering a Calzone with mushrooms & bacon. It was big, and the stuffing was good, but I found the crust very boring. It was served with a nice marinara sauce though, excellent. My husband ordered Penne with bolognaise and it was delicious. There was too much food, we both brought some home (but they didn't give me my marinara!!), and it was expensive for lunch. Our bill was $ 34 with 1 beer, which is way over our lunch budget but it was pretty busy in there and always is so obviously people like it and are willing to spend the money. I may go back for dinner, but not lunch. I hear the lasagna is excellent.
Its hit or miss

A bunch of friends used to meet up every few months for a meal here and we stopped going because 1/2 of us really enjoyed our meal and 1/2 of us didn't. Some items on the menu are a great value, others you don't get much food for the money. I have had some good wraps, some good sandwiches, some good fish. Another time I ordered the special, beef tenderloin with a seafood sauce with shrimp and I was biting into shells. It was horrible. Lilly's is right on the water so you have a great view. They have live entertainment which is usually pretty good. Prices are decent. Their chairs have wheels (fun). I would go back if invited, but not of my own volition.
I bought a gift card so I used it and was pleasantly surprised
Submitted Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 4:33am [Take-out]
I thought Domino's pizza was gonna taste like cardboard, that's a rumour that I had heard years ago, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that I was wrong when I finally tried it. My friend sells gift cards as a fundraiser for her girls' dance group where I pay full price for the card and her dance group gets a percentage of the value and one month Domino's cards were on special (higher percentage for them, plus they were also giving a percentage to the Red Cross for Japan), so I bought a couple Domino's cards. I was shocked to find the pizza was really good, with real mushrooms (I love that) and other quality toppings. We'll order it again.
El Mayor936 East Wyandotte Street, Windsor My very favourite restaurant! The most AMAZING Lebanese food in the city!
Submitted Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 4:20am [Dine in]
El Mayor has the BEST Lebanese food in Windsor...amazing! My husband would agree! We usually order the Mixed Shawarma Plate (chicken & beef, rice, onions, pickles, beets) with a small Fattoush Salad and Hummus w/ pita bread and we split it. All this food for about $ 30 and we bring about half of it home for dinner the next day. The only down side is they don't have a liquor license, but that's not stopping me from going over and over again!
At one time I declared this my favourite restaurant

Years ago I declared Cramdon's my favourite restaurant. Their chicken quesadilla was amazing and I also enjoyed the Greek burger, however last month I went to their new location (not as nice, but still fine) the lunch was not very good. I had the chicken quesadilla, thinking I couldn't go wrong, but the chicken was dry. My husband didn't enjoy his chicken wings much either (also overcooked). I will certainly give it another try as I've always enjoyed it there before, and when we play darts there on Friday nights the nachos have been very good. Maybe the cook was just having a bad day?
Fresh & delicious!

I have never actually been in the restaurant, although I have been meaning to go....my cousin won the "Rock the Block" contest on 100.7 The Rock and the owner / chef (can't remember his name) from Club Il Cavallino catered the early morning event! Breakfast wraps, which were really good, home fried potatoes & fresh fruit. I spoke with him for a while and his restaurant is in a really great looking building (Inside F1 Collision, which is extremely odd), but my favourite part is that he grows his own organic veggies in the garden next to the restaurant. I love that!
Try the wings!
Submitted Thursday, August 18, 2011 - 3:21am [Dine in]
I am not a huge fan of chicken wings and I would never order them myself, but one night a bunch of friends went out together and several of them ordered the wings so I got to try them....they were amazing! And on specific nights (I don't know which) you get 3 lbs for the price of 1 lb, so its a great deal!
Shish Tawook is amazing!
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 3:10pm [Dine in]
Although its not my favourite Lebanese restaurant, it is very good. I don't find their menu has a lot of variety, but maybe you can substitute, and when my husband and I ordered the $ 40 platter there was only rice and a couple of shish kabob's to share. Salad and hummus and bread were extra. The meal was expensive and we only had a little bit to take home. It was very busy in there though, and I think we were there on a Monday or Wednesday, so that's quite impressive, and its beautifully decorated, but its certainly not my first choice. I would go back only if we were meeting friends there and it was their suggestion.
One of my favourite places for lunch!
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 2:59pm [Dine in]
I eat here 2 - 3 times every week because the food is excellent and the prices are fantastic! Everyday there are two specials under $ 10 including tax (you can't beat that...). The menu offers tons of lunch items for under $ 5.00 including tax and portions are just right. My favourite sandwiches are the BLT (they have really great bacon) or the Egg Salad or the Chicken Caesar in a Pita. If you are into specialty coffees you should try this place too, as apparently they are award winning! See you there!
My very favourite place
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 2:55pm [Dine in]
This is the cutest place ever and their food is healthy, fresh & amazing!! And the prices are outstanding....my favourite sandwiches are The Patricia (tuna w/ red onion, old white cheddar & curry); The Veggie Loola ( a wrap with veggies, old white cheddar & avocado) and the Grilled Cheese Toastie w/ Old White Cheddar, Pecans & Date sauce.....sounds weird, but its like eating dessert for lunch. Absolutely amazing!! Love it....
Can you smell it!? Mmmm....
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 2:51pm [Dine in]
I love just driving near this place because it smells so darn good! Most of my experiences have been excellent here. They have the BEST beans I've ever had, the Basa is good, the Pulled Pork is good, the Chili is good, the Redneck Nachos are good and my very favourite sandwich is the El Ray (Beef Brisket). Try the salads as well......delicious!
Crumb & Cheese Encrusted Tilapia...sound good?? Its amazing...!!
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 2:48pm [Dine in]
Can you believe I had never been to Red Lobster until a year or so ago?? I wasn't into fish when I was younger, but I have now come to love it. My entire family went for the first time and we each ordered something different and shared.....we all love it! I am in love with the Peach Bourbon Scallops, and the wood fired Salmon is also excellent! My favourite meal so far was the Crumb & Cheese Encrusted Tilapia! OMG, to die for!! Can't wait to go back!
Pasta for lunch!!
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 2:40pm [Dine in]
Really great prices for really yummy pasta! I went there for my birthday lunch and had the Pasta Carbonara and it was really excellent and I'm pretty sure the meal was under $10 which is amazing for a nice pasta dish...lots of food too. Their fresh bread is also very yummy! I can't wait to go back!
$ 5.95 for a club house? That's what I said....
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 1:48pm [Dine in]
I couldn't believe the prices.....you get a delicious (and I mean delicious) club house sandwich for only $ 5.95 and that may even be including tax (I forget)......It doesn't come with fries, but who really wants those anyway? Its a very small, cute place...maybe 6 tables, so get there early!
Try the home fries!
Submitted Monday, August 15, 2011 - 1:43pm [Dine in]
We've been there a few times, and each time the food has been really good. We've mostly had breakfast and although the prices aren't cheap, you do get a good size portion and I have to say they have the best home fries I've ever had...you must get the fried home fries with onion & spices....amazing!!
