I felt healthier walking out of this place!!
Submitted Saturday, February 18, 2012 - 9:57am [Dine in]

I saw the write up in the Windsor Star and knew I had to check this place out!! I ordered the Vegetarian Delight Sandwich w/ Goat cheese topped with homemade garlic yogurt sauce, fresh cucumber, red onion, tomato & fresh living sunflower sprouts on whole wheat sprouted toasted bread, served with organic potato chips, carrots & celery w/ a nice dill dip.....it was really fresh, healthy & delicious, though a little messy to eat. I think the sandwich should be served wrapped in wax paper to avoid droppage, but anyway.... Service was quite slow (the waitress / owner introduced herself as the worst waitress ever, lol), but the place was packed (all 6 tables) with people waiting in line for a seat! I will definitely go back, but probably for take out! A little tight in there for me, and I don't have that much time for lunch on a work day!

Spicy Grilled Chicken Wrap
Submitted Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 8:13am [Dine in]

I had heard they added chicken to their menu, so I went back for a second try. I enjoyed my first visit (the Turkey burger). I ordered the Special which was a Spicy Grilled Chicken Wrap, but it wasn't anything special, nor was it spicy. Because it was the special it came with fresh cut fries (no charge), but if you ordered this on any other day the fries would be extra. The fries were pretty good, although I found them slightly chewy. Its really cute in there, but I'm not crazy about the fact that you order your food at the counter then sit and wait for it. (I frequent many restaurants like this, so I don't know why it bothers me here....). Anyway, I'll give it another try someday, but I'm not in a hurry to go back at this point. $ 8.95 + tax (including fries, but only because it was the special).

A Hippie for this tree hugger!
Submitted Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 8:03am [Dine in]

I ordered the Hippie sandwich, which is a panini w/ a whole bunch of healthy stuff in it!! I don't remember the ingredients, but its a fantastic sandwich, really cute place and great prices!! New Girl had the Lentil Squash soup and said it was excellent. Dan enjoyed his sandwich as well. Apparently the owner changes the menu every few months, so next time the menu may be a surprise. The sweets were calling, so both Dan and New Girl ordered something and I resisted!! Dan says the coffee is good too... You should check this place out. Free wifi too...

50's Style Diner, worth the drive to Belle River
Submitted Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 7:59am [Dine in]

I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger, Fresh Cut Fries and a Diet Coke (in the old style bottle!).....really good, handmade burger and fresh cut fries. My friend Monique had the Poutine and said it was really yummy! A really cute place! Its a 50's style diner with 50's style uniforms coming soon! Check out their Facebook page and take a drive out to Belle River and try their food!! Great place for kids (and soon to be a great place for your dog to eat too!). Juke Box for your listening pleasure. Had a really good time and can't wait to take my husband. I'll likely try the Big Johnson next! ;)

The Carnitas were yummy!
Submitted Thursday, February 16, 2012 - 7:51am [Dine in]

I had the Carnitas (Pork Tacos) w/ Salad, Homemade Nachos & Salsa, Diet Coke - 2 Corn Tortillas w/ pulled pork & onions...I enjoyed them very much. The salsa & chips were good. My boss had the Burrito w/ a side of refried beans (which is what I had last time). He said the beans were good, but the burrito was too big and didn't have enough flavour. New Girl had a Chicken Taco and said it lacked flavour. I like this place, and think the price for the lunch special is good ($10 including tax), however there are a lot of rules. For example, I was going to order a Chicken Quesadilla, but the special comes with Chorizo, unless I wanted to pay $ 1 more (which I didn't) and condiments are also extra (sour cream, cheese). Will definitely go back though, everything on my plate was good!

Really good, BIG, fresh sandwich
Submitted Thursday, January 19, 2012 - 2:50pm [Dine in]

I ordered the Chicken Philly Combo Meal (comes with fresh cut fries and a pop). The sandwich was HUGE and the chicken / onions / peppers were cooked while you wait (so it took a while, but so worth it). Really good quality ingredients, really nice bread. My husband had the American Philly and I guess he could have chosen provolone instead of the Philly Wiz (he didn't know), but regardless he still liked his sandwich. We will definitely be going back. I think, however, that $ 10.99 + tax is too much for lunch, unless you split the meal with a friend (and you could definitely do that, its that big). They would likely get more business if they kept the price under $ 10 including tax, just make the sandwich 1/2 size and serve it with less fries. P.S., the owner is a really nice guy!

This time I chose the breakfast burrito and am I ever glad I did! Really nice flavour, stuffed to the gills with veggies and all for $4.50 plus tax & tip!! Service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait! Nice clean restaurant too! :)

I thought I liked Mexican food, but perhaps I was wrong...
Submitted Wednesday, January 4, 2012 - 3:22pm [Dine in]

We went for lunch and I ordered the Flautas de Pollo; 4 Corn Tortillas rolled and filled with shredded chicken (fried crispy) and topped with Queso Fresco and Guacamole-Crema, served with Rice and Frijoles Charros (pinto beans w/ pork and jalapenos). Unfortunately I cannot say I liked anything on my plate even the salsa turned me off, didn't like the flavour. My boss had the Carne Asada (2 soft tacos) with grilled marinated skirt steak, chocolate tomatoes, carmelized onions, aged cotija cheese & molé - he wasn't thrilled with the molé sauce as he specifically asked if it was chocolate and the waitress said it wasn't, but he still wants to go back. VERY pricey for lunch, but they have the same prices at dinner, so dinner prices are pretty good. They need to change the lunch portion sizes and reduce the price to $ 8 or so. Wasn't very busy in there for a new restaurant either and I found it interesting that there were crumbs all over the floor, and they had just opened for the day. I won't be hurrying back.

This pizza is top heavy!
Submitted Saturday, December 10, 2011 - 3:26pm [Take-out]

My husband came home from work talking about Cheese Wheelz, a bunch of his friends were raving about it so we ordered The Meatlover. This pizza is incredibly loaded with meat. Pepperoni, Ham and (real) Bacon.....it was very delicious. They are also known for their Garlic Crust. My husband and son loved the crust, I, however, found it very salty. Regardless, I'd still order from there again as 2 pieces filled us all up, and there's still 1/2 a pizza in the fridge!! What value.....! You should check it out! Pick up only...

My husband has declared this his favourite Chinese restaurant
Submitted Thursday, December 1, 2011 - 1:44pm [Dine in]

My husband had lunch here the other day and was raving about it so today we went together. We both had the General Tao Chicken combo which included Wonton Soup, Egg Roll, Chicken Chop Suey & Chicken Fried Rice. The soup was really good, and I've never been a fan of Wonton Soup....good start! The Eggroll was fresh & tender! The General Tao Chicken and Chicken Fried Rice were very good, but I wouldn't go as far as to say its the best I've ever had. I didn't find the sauce sweet enough on the chicken, but the ingredients are fresh and good quality. Overall very good, large portions, prices are excellent....I'd go back.

Garlic & Mushroom Steak Tips
Submitted Wednesday, November 30, 2011 - 4:12pm [Dine in]

Today I ordered the Garlic & Mushroom Steak Tips (Tuesday's Special) and it was pretty good, but not great. After I placed my order the waitress started walking away and I called her back because she didn't ask me how I wanted my steak cooked. She said they always cook it medium to medium well, but I wanted medium rare, so that's what I got. The steak was tasty, and very tender but sometimes so tender that I wondered if it was even meat!? It was a weird texture. The mushrooms were yummy and the vegetable medley was very fresh, but I wasn't crazy about the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. (Special) price was good at $ 11.99, and it was just enough food, but I'll likely not order that entree again. I'll definitely go back though...

The Stacked Sandwich!!
Submitted Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - 4:36am [Dine in]

Its not cheap, something like $ 14 or $15 but it is the most amazing sandwich I may have ever had!! So much stuff in it, including apple slices and panko breaded cheese....BREADED cheese! Comes with fries or salad and its big....you could split it with a friend. I've had it 3 out of 4 times I've been to Casey's and my boss just tried it and enjoyed it too! You should go!

I had to try the Butternut Squash Soup
Submitted Thursday, October 6, 2011 - 2:24pm [Dine in]

Butternut Squash is my favourite vegetable, but I've never had it in soup form, so when I saw today's soup special, it was a no-brainer! The soup was excellent! I also ordered the Mediterranean Wrap. The wrap was comprised of chicken, spinach, feta, tomatoes & olives all wrapped up in a spinach wrap. The menu was written on a blackboard, so I didn't see the ingredients list. If I had known there would be olives in the wrap I would probably have ordered something else. As it was, I picked out what I could. It was tasty, but I don't like picking at my food (my fault). The restaurant, although in a renovated house, is surprisingly cramped with way too many tables in one room. Nice patio area outside though. It was very busy and there is not a lot of room to stand in line, and I'm not sure what they can do to fix this issue. Also, they really need to get with the times and get a debit machine. Nobody does "cash only" anymore. Regardless, we'll go back again as the food was good and they are licensed to serve alcohol...next time I'll ask what's in it before I order.

Try the Spicy Asiago Ranch Chicken Club....you won't be sorry!
Submitted Friday, September 23, 2011 - 9:59am [Take-out]

This sandwich is amazing!!! By itself its fairly expensive, but in a combo its under $ 10.....Wendy's has the best chicken sandwich of all the fast food chains hands down, but add the "spicy", then add the Asiago Cheese & Ranch Dressing and it becomes incredible!! I've had it three times now and I'm sure I'll continue to order it as long as its on the menu. Not sure if its a 'limited time' item or not. Their new fries are hit or miss; today they were fairly good...... but this lunch is all about the sandwich! Try it!!

Fresh Baked Pita Bread
Submitted Thursday, September 15, 2011 - 12:40pm [Dine in]

Really nice building inside and out. We ordered the Hummus with Shawarma Chicken with Fresh Baked Pita Bread and a Fattoush Salad. The food tasted good, but I was a bit disappointed in the deep fried pita (some of them were not crisp) and the tomato could have been better as it is tomato season around here. About a dollar more expensive than my favourite Lebanese place, but still well priced.

Great Fresh Cut Fries
Submitted Tuesday, September 13, 2011 - 1:31pm [Dine in]

I'm not much into chicken wings, but this place is close to work and we were going that way anyway and I've been meaning to try it....the only thing on the menu is chicken wings and a few sides, so you don't have any choice but to order wings. 99 different sauces / dry rubs. For $ 8.49 + tax you get 5 wings (any sauce you want), fresh cut fries, celery w/ ranch dip, and a pop. I ordered the breaded wings with # 48 (The Rusty Bike sauce)....wings were good, but nothing to write home about. I liked the flavour of the sauce. The fries were excellent. I'd go back because my family would enjoy this place. Also, its very clean and the staff is friendly.

Submitted Monday, September 12, 2011 - 2:20pm [Dine in]

I tried the Strato Wrap - Freshly baked Focaccia w/ Ham, Bacon, Red Onion, Lettuce, Tomato, Cheddar & Caesar Dressing....they also pan fry the bread so its crispy on the inside....served with really excellent creamy coleslaw. It was very, very good. Big sandwich so I took 1/2 home. My boss had the Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza and almost passed out from pleasure!! lol....we were there on a Monday, but apparently Tuesdays are BOGO free!

Potato Gratin was Amazing!!
Submitted Tuesday, August 30, 2011 - 5:55pm [Dine in]

My boss always takes us out for a nice Christmas Dinner and this year he chose Toscana. The place is really beautiful inside, but its the potatoes I remember the most.....thin, thin layers of potato with cheese and I don't know what else, but I've been dreaming about them for 9 months now! The potatoes were served with Roast Chicken Breast stuffed with feta cheese & herbs, and broccoli on the side. Not sure if its on the menu, I think it was the special, but I believe the waitress said one night a week they make the potatoes. I think you should call for a reservation, and depending on what night those are being served, you should book that night! ;)

Best Greek Dressing in Windsor
Submitted Monday, August 29, 2011 - 12:41pm [Dine in]

The Walker Grill has the BEST Greek salad and BEST dressing in Windsor, hands down!! My boss and my co-worker raved about it and urged me to try it. Really good quality chicken, fresh, crisp romaine & other quality ingredients, and the most amazing beet dressing (its really to die for!), served with nicely grilled pita. Since new ownership, they have added items to the already perfect salad, but I order it without the black olives, beets and peppers. Service used to be pretty slow, but last time I was there it was super quick and same great quality.
