Villa Verdi13620 80th Avenue, Surrey
Not up to par with others at that price point

Service was good but the food fell short. The bread was good. Next time we're going to either Piazza Dario on Grandview where you get twice the ambiance and outstanding food for an additional 20% or DaMario on Hastings for incredible food and value. We wanted to try out something new in the Surrey area but this just wasn't a hit unfortunately. We're getting very picky about food lately so not everyone may agree with this review. Try at your own risk and you may like it, we weren't offended by it but we're not going back either.

Da Mario5601 Hastings Street, Burnaby
It’s the flavour that keeps us coming back...

My wife and I have been to Da Mario for memorable dinners at least a dozen times over the past 4 years and expect no less than the best tasting gnocchi and cannelloni in town; we have never been disappointed.
Da Mario is a hidden gem in the Greater Vancouver area, the best value for a great quality meal. If you can get passed the low key facade, you are bound to experience a “party in the mouth”. This is not a high end Italian restaurant with valet parking, maitre d’ and ultra hospitable professionally trained servers, instead it is a cozy, authentic and a bit run down of a place with personable serving staff that do their best to make sure you’re happy. The owners are the cooks, Italians of course. They managed to not only create fantastic dishes, the quality is superb and very consistent. The tiramisu is not the best in town but it’s very good, the caprese salad is really good and their lasagne is top notch. We highly recommend Da Mario. Writing this review makes me hungry...

Tio Pepe's1134 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
Would not recommend it to my friends...

I had to apologize to my wife for having suggested dining at Tio Pepe’s. One more disappointment in the Mexican category of the Vancouver restaurant scene. The food was mediocre at best, the lime margaritas had not seen a lime anywhere along the way (looked and tasted like made with commercial chemical mix, a kind of automotive antifreeze looking goo) and the service lacked much Mexican hospitality. I kept hoping that at any time during our dining event there would be a redeeming quality that would surprise us, such as perhaps this place would serve the best flan in town, but unfortunately that did not happen. I’m sorry, we don’t have deserts, the teenage spaced out waitress giggled.
I’m sorry Tio, we’re not coming back to your joint...
