Pretty wonderful little whole in the wall sushi joint!!!
Submitted Tuesday, June 30, 2009 - 12:11pm [Dine in]

I live in the area, but was always a little reluctant to try this place out.

I have seen them at the PNE and other places and a lot of people in the neighbourhood had said that this is a good little joint to try out. I ordered from there on the weekend. The people there were very friendly. They were very nice and told me that they had a weekly cone special, so next time I may want to try.

I had ordered thier House Party Tray and thier "Volcanal" Roll for two and it was plenty. There were a variety of party trays, for a very reasonable price.

Will definately go back and try more of their stuff.

As I walked into this place, it gave me a very dirty feeling.

The waiter says "anywhere, anywhere". so we picked out seat and sat down. He threw the menu on the table for us, like we were some dog in a cage. I had a couple of questions about the items on the menu, the waiter answered me that he was in a rush and I was wasting his time.

My lunch came and half way through my main course, my salad roll was not served yet. I asked him, and he yelled at me with great disgust, that it was coming.

Food was okay, but a little tasteless.

I do not think I will be coming back here again.

Authentic Hole in the Wall Japanese Joint
Submitted Monday, June 15, 2009 - 12:11pm [Dine in]

A whole in the wall restaurant. Very authentic.

I have been here many times over the years, I have lived in this neighbourhood. Although I have not been here in a while.

I tried out there cold noodles and it was soooo good. I find that their sashimi is good, but not that outstanding. And their portions seems small.

However, with the price, I think it is quite reasonable for small dishes.

The decor may need some updating, but overall, I think this is quite good.

Would definately go back.

Great novelty, but not outstanding.
Submitted Thursday, May 28, 2009 - 11:32am [Dine in]

I tried out the Classic Poutine and the Chili Poutine. They were not as tasty as it looked, but overall pretty good. I think a little overpriced though.

However, the I could totally taste the freshness of the fries, so I think that was a plus. Secondly, I tried a cone of onion rings. I thought that was pretty good.

The deep friend mars bar was really good too. Although the ice cream was not enough to accompany the mars bar.

I would definately go back to try out the dipping sauce and the deep friend pecan ice cream.

A Sushi Garden alternative
Submitted Tuesday, March 17, 2009 - 12:40pm [Dine in]

All around this place is good. It's so close to the Sushi Garden, it could be a Sushi Garden alternative.

I got there early, but the place was packed by 6:30. In my opinion, I think the sushi is better than Sushi Garden, but the price is about the same.

The service was quite outstanding. They had a smile and was quite attentive. The prices are very reasonable.

They have all sorts of stuff. They even have all sorts of soup base. Love it!

The service was good. I thought they were quite nice for an asian restaurant. Although there were 6 of us (3 couples) and they wouldn't let us pay separately on 3 credit cards, because they were "too busy". How does that work?

The price is pretty average, but for the extensive menu they offer, I think it's a pretty good deal.

Just another Thai House
Submitted Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - 12:27pm [Dine in]

I agree that this is a Thai House is disguise.

They even sold Thai House curry in the front desk.

My experience was not really pleasing. I was there with a group of 7 people. When the bill came, they have already added gratuity to it. I didn't understand that. They never told us that this was the case and usually restaurants add the gratuity if it was a large group and I don't think that 7 people is considered a large group.

With that kind of service and that kind money, I really didn't need to stress myself and make my way all the way downtown to do that.

Fairly disappointed. Don't really think I will come back here again.

Awsome Authentic Malaysian Cuisine!!!
Submitted Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - 12:48pm [Dine in]

The best Malaysian place for me so far.

The prices there are quite average. It is not overpriced, but it's not dirt cheap.

Other than that, everything there is quite outstanding. Food is delicious. The chili sauce on the side is the hottest I've ever tried, AND IT LINGERS!!! If you want spicy, this is the place to go!!!

Service there is outstanding, and I MEAN OUTSTANDING!!!!

Go without any expectations!!! That's what it gives you!!!
Submitted Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - 12:40pm [Dine in]

Food there is pretty decent, but the service there is absolutely ridiculous!!! A little bit of a smile would not hurt, I'm sure. They have most of thier stuff as sushi (with rice). If you don't finish all the rice, you will need to pay for it. I was there and left 3 pieces of rice, they told me that I had to finish it, or else I will need to pay for the rice. Not impressed.

No smiles. They look like they hate working there and that they are doing you a favour by serving you. Why are they working there, if they hate it so much???

The value is quite decent, but for the attitude they give you and the stuff that they make you pay for if you don't eat as it comes, is it really worth it???? It's really up to the individual to judge.

Authentic Taiwanese Noodles & Tea
Submitted Monday, March 2, 2009 - 4:14pm [Dine in]

The Taiwanese food is very authentic here. The beef noodle was wonderful. Not much msg, if any. The dumplings are very good too. I have tried the rice in the past and it was pretty good. The teas there are pretty good too.

The only problem with this place is that they are not geared to non asians. The menus are all in chinese, but the tea there is very good too.

The servers there don't speak much english. Mostly mandarin.

Exactly that. I was there for Dine out Vancouver. The presentation of the food was quite different. I had the tuna spring roll, the seared salmon and the decadent chocolate with two cute little mini donuts on the side.

They came in small dishes, but the food was really tasty. The music there was a little too loud to my liking, but I think it's the "in" thing now.

We even got a $25 coupon for our next visit.

Horrific experience!!!
Submitted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 3:17pm [Dine in]

I don't think I have ever had such a horrible experience all around with such a big chained restaurant.

I walked into the restaurant and greeted by the ditsy hostess with a disgusted look (like I wasn't good enough be there). I told her it was a table for 2. She told me with a unwelcoming tone that the wait was 40-45 minutes. I told her that I was willing to wait and she rolled her eyes. After waiting 5 minutes, I was seated. What's with that? I felt that she was trying to discourage me to stay there, because I didn't look "hip" enough.

I showed up with a friend to have dessert and a cup of coffee. I felt like I was rushed. They were collecting our plates, the minute I put the last bite in our mouths. Two minutes later, the waitress came over and asked if we needed anything. I said no, but didn't ask for the bill. My friend and I was chatting and every 5 minutes the waitress would come by and gave us a stare down. Every 10 minutes, she would ask if I needed anything. I felt very rushed and very unwelcome.

The value was not expensive, but not cheap. Pretty mediocre.

Never EVER go back here again.

Nice people man that works there. Very polite.

The advertise to have the best sping rolls in town. They are definately not exaggerating. I usually have rare beef with noodle soup of beef balls with noodle soup. It's great. The broth is wonderful.

The cost is veeeery economical. Love it!

Great place for a great view
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 3:09pm [Dine in]

I have been here in the past, but this week, I came back for Dine Out Vancouver.

I had a rib-eye steak and it was so tender that I barely needed a knife to cut through it. I had a bite off my friends place of the salmon with dill sauce, and that was great!!

The dessert we all had the brownie with vanilla ice cream. It was nothing spectacular, or even out of the ordinary, but I thought it was just right for me.

The service was incredible. The lady I had was not snobby AT ALL! She was very friendly. She also apologized for the destorted view becauuse of the fog.

Overall, GREEEAAAT!!! Definately come back!

Outstanding all around!
Submitted Tuesday, January 20, 2009 - 3:04pm [Dine in]

Overall, no complaints. I think the food, service and value is all around pretty even.

However, with all these restaurants opening up in the same little complex, makes it hard to park. If you don't find parking in their little parking, you would have to drive through a BIG circle and get lost along the way to go for parking. The residents have thier own sign up stating that it's only resident parking. So, until you're going at the times that are not busy, be prepared to drive around several times before you find yourself a parking spot. Even if you find one, be prepared to walk several blocks.

Best Oyster
Submitted Friday, January 9, 2009 - 11:49am [Dine in]

I was going to Yaletown and stubled upon this place. There was a menu on the outside for "Low Tide". I was quite impressed. When I read reviews on this, I thought it was an expensive, snooty place.

The "Low Tide" menu had the raw oysters on there for half price ($1.50/each). I think it was only Sunday to Thursday. It was so......good. Their pan friend oysters were also VERY tasty.

I thought the service wasn't bad at all. The waiters there were nice and funny. However, the only complaint I have for the waitress that brought me to the table was quite rude. I wasn't too sure what was wrong, but she seems quite cranky. I thought with the spirit of the other waiters, the two waitresses would atleast have some kink of spunk, but some peeved her off and she's taking it out on the rest of the customers, which is quite unfortunate.

After the dinner, I ordered a Chocolate Mousse. I thought it was quite expensive. It was $6.25 for a small portion.

Good food, good value but veeeery poor service.
Submitted Monday, December 29, 2008 - 3:27pm [Dine in]

This use to be one the restaurants in my neighbourhood that I USE to frequently visit. After my most recent visit was when I realized why this restaurant is no longer one of my first choices.

I had ordered a baked pork chop on rice, which came with a soup of the day and a drink. I ordered a lemon tea, with the lemon tea on side (I can't bare seeing the oil from the skin of the lemon floating on the top of my tea). The waitress I couldn't do that. I said "what????" She said "I guess we can, but we would prefer you not ask for that" combined with a very unplesant look. I gave her a very surprised and blank look. She said "I'll see what I could do". I don't think I was asking her to harvest the lemon from florida, what was the problem?????

However, the owners that I've dealt with, were very nice. Very nice lady and very nice man. What the hell happened to the waitresses???

The food there is very decent for a HK cafe style restaurant.

Best dim sum please
Submitted Monday, December 29, 2008 - 3:07pm [Dine in]

This has been one of the best dim sum places I've tried yet. The dim sum wasn't humungous like all the other average places, but it was very good.

I was there for dinner a couple of months ago, and the food was average. Not too crazy about the dinner. The menu seemed ooolala, but it didn't excite me too much. Very expensive for the average food served.

The price is a little on the expensive side, but not overly crazy. And for the quality, I thought it was worthit.

The design there was very pretty. It was very obvious that someone took time to pick the decor out for this restaurant.

Food here was pretty good. I highly recommend the deep freid bananas. Although this time I was there, they waited too long before they put it in the water, so it was all stuck together. Otherwise, the spicy indicated that I ordered was tastfully spicy.

The service there was quite impressive for a chinese restaurant. Their english waiters there were very fluent and veeeery polite. Impressive.

Prices there was not cheap, but it wasn't expensive either. Quite average for a chinese restaurant.

Great place for a great price!
Submitted Tuesday, December 9, 2008 - 2:12pm [Dine in]

I usually go there for 2 for 1 Mondays. I had a tuna tartar, which was wonderful! Chicken stuffed with mushroom and wild rise, which was incredible. Then I had a pear almond tart with Ginger ice cream. VERY yum, yum, yum!!!!

The poor boy that was serving was flustered, but he was very pleasant, when he got use to it.

I think the value was great. Two people can dine for $49.00, a three course meal without alcohol. I thought for the quality of the food, it was a steal!!!!

Loooooved it!!!!
