I went here for lunch today. 2nd time in two months. we came back because the first time the food was good and we used a groupon without problems.
I need to caution you all regarding the latest Groupon Deal.
we used a Groupon of pay $10 get $20 worth of food.
our food bill came to $17 plus change, after HST tax the bill came to $20.05
the waitress charged us and extra $2.40.
when I asked where this $2.40 came from, she said it was tax. and that this tax must be paid.
it totally did not make any sense. HST was already added to the bill. I asked her to explain what extra tax was this for? she said something about Groupon charging the restaurant a tax and the restaurant was losing money, so they now charge the customer the extra tax of an additional 12%
one customer before me also complained about the extra $2.40 ...
we will not be returning here.
I rarely if ever have anything negative to say about the Old Spaghetti Factory except maybe the waiting times for a table can be long :o) BUT I can understand why there are long line ups!!
the staff is always friendly and quick. if we have special request for seating it's always met with a smile.
the food value is amazing, it's an all inclusive meal!! I often need a take out bag because there is too much food!
the surrounding is comfy and cozy.
the food gets two thumbs up!!
when I dine here I always enjoy the Curry Beef and rice. the beef is always nice and tender slices of meat.
the vermicelli and pork with preserved veggies is also great, soup is flavourful and portion is generous.
my kids enjoy the fried rice and fried noodles.
all in all a pretty great place to bring a hungry family!!!
the food here is good. the service is questionable.
there are good deals to be had, if you order before 6pm you get a free drink with your entree. if you order after 6pm there is no free drink but there is a section in the menue where entrees are only $5 each plus a bowl or rice with each selection. pretty good deals.
HOWEVER ... depending on who is your wait staff ... you can either ask for extra rice and get it free OR they will charge you for the rice. it's very inconsistent.
the ambiance for the eating area is typical of a East meets West restaurant, it's clean.
However the bathrooms are filthy.
this is one of the best deal for your money places! We are always greeted when we arrived and thanked when we leave.
the food portions are HUGE and the quality is always fresh. the display of the food is appealing.
the staff are always friendly and helpful
Seating is a bit cramped and not a lot of seats available, but if you're looking for great take out, Samurai is definitely the place to go to!
my family and I tried this restaurant about a week ago. I was excited to give it a try because it was on a popular TV Food show.
We ordered the same entrees as what was shown on tv. We were dissappointed because the portions were not the same as what we saw on the TV. in actuality it was much smaller. The vegetables looked and tasted over cooked and the pastry on the meat pie was quite dry. Half of the fries on my son's plate were burnt and the sandwich that came with it lacked substance.
We were also disappointment when the waitress told us that two people cannot share an entree that each person must order a minimum $5 worth from the menu or there will be a $5 sitting charge for each individual who didn't place a qualifying order. My younger daughter has a small appetite and would normally share from her brother or sister, but this time I had to order her a whole entree and ended up taking it home and with another charge for the take out container.
I am giving a low rating for Tomahawk because:
#1 the dining area was small and cramped, it was litterally elbow to elbow seating. Not comfortable at all.
#2 the wait staff were rarely available for table service.
#3 the food quality and portion size was not worth what they charge for it
#4 we were made to feel herded in to eat, then hurried out so they could seat the waiting customers.
we will not be returning to this restaurant.
this place is always so busy when we go.
we always go for the all you can eat, it's a bit pricey but the food is good.
they one thing that always sticks out in my mind is the waiting time when we go, even with a reservation we usually will have to wait for our table.
this isn't a five star restaurant, but for a good deal and a quick lunch, this is a pretty good place to go. the lunch specials are posted on the right hand side when you first walk in the front door. these are the best deals.
However the physical part of the restaurant can use a good clean up / renovation. the floors are greasy and they don't have hot running water in the bathroom for handwashing.
the staff are friendly :o)
we tried this place on a Groupon, and I must say that it's a pretty good burger, very filling :o) the fries need an upgrade ... they are like hollow potato strips, but otherwise the burgers are great.
the chicken burger is a big breast fillet, again very tasty.
I will definitely dine at Fat Burger again.
it is expensive to eat here and the food isn't all that great. service is poor. no one greets you when you walk in. no one says good bye or thank you when you leave. no one smiles. no one checks up on you to see if you like your food or need anything. no one refills water or tea. portions are small and food display is sloppy.
if you order their special. the portions are even SMALLER than their average serving size and they give you the poorer quality item compared to if you order the same item on their regular menu, but then you are paying regular price rather than the 'sale' price.
on top of it all after that ... if you don't leave a good size tip for their poortable service ... they smirk at you.
