Best service ever for Chinese restaurant!
Submitted Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 12:35am [Dine in]

I've been to Sun Sui Wah, Kirin and other classy places and I got to say Jade outranks them all. Went to a friend's wedding recently and I left with a good impression. Throughout the whole 12-course banquet, drinks/tea were consistantly topped up, and clean plates were changed individually after every new dish that came out. Every waiter was responsible for their own table while 4 different managers oversaw the whole banquet. The waiters even took special care of the elderly by asking them how they like their food prepared for every dish. Decor was good as the tables were spaced out and didn't feel cramped. Taste was good though portions are a bit small. Value is good considering that the service was exceptional. Many of the guests raved about this restaurant afterwards. A must try if you're looking for traditional Chinese cuisine!

Best Nigiri ever!
Submitted Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 12:20am [Dine in]

Nigiri rice is always sweet; tuna and salmon are always fresh. Good consistancy every time. Every visit, service is good; drinks always get topped up without asking. Best in Burnaby! It's worth driving up north than going to other sushi places on Kingsway. Waitress always smile. Take-out service need some work though.

Where's our tip?
Submitted Thursday, October 15, 2009 - 12:04am [Dine in]

Food was not good for the price we have to pay. Bland and poorly cooked; it seemed like they didn't put enough effort in making their dishes. Tea refills and plate changing came in a slow pace (20 mins at one point with no water). This is totally unexpected from a restaurant that calls itself 'upper class'. Ambience and decor is too busy. A female manager made us pay before dessert came which is a 'no no' in Chinese etiquette. Also dessert came before the table was cleared of dirty dishes. When we didn't pay any tip, the manager had the nerve to ask us why we didn't give one. When we left, all the waiters/waitresses were cursing us behind our backs. Eat at your own risk!

Good portions but horrible service.
Submitted Saturday, August 4, 2007 - 7:35pm [Dine in]

Last week, I ordered sushi for pick-up (I didn't want to eat there to avoid the poor service). According to the take- out menu, if I ordered 2 hours ahead of time, I'll get a discount. I did just that. But when I arrived to pick up my sushi, the waitress told me I didn't qualify for the discount as i didn't mentioned it on the phone (which the menu didn't say I had to) and, according to her, I had called 30 mins ago. We got in a heated argument, but I refused to let it go. At that point, I didn't really cared about the discount, it was all about principle. Basically, she looked at me if I was a liar. Take-out or eat-in, simply bad service!
