I made( early in the previous week) a reservation for 11 for 6:00 on a Sunday evening. We arrived early, and the room was ready for us, but all our party had not arrived. The waitress asked( at 6:05) if we were ready to order, then again at 6:10. The rest of the party arrived by 6:15 and we were asked immediately if we were ready to order. My wife asked if there was a rush--were there other people waiting for our seats; the answer was "No." We made our selections( we were not asked if we would like a drink first). The orders came quickly, but were not correct, and although one of our party spoke Japanese, and explasined the mix-up by them, the staff was rude and impatient and one of our party waited a long time for the same meal as some of us had already.
The food, as usual, was very good, but no sooner did the last bite touch my lips when the cheques came.
Although the Japanese member of our family has chosen Fuji as the best sushi restauarant in Vancouver, by far, we will never eat there again.

This restaurant is rather hard to finsd at night, as there are no lights outside. The place itself is unprepossessing, and a rather-ordinary long bar-tables arrangement, and looks like it could be a neighbourbood hangout. The food, however, is unusual--a continental menu, and very delicious, and the service is attentive and good. The four of us had various items and every one of them was well-presented and extremely tasty.
The only complaint that we had was that the music was far too loud, although the server did turn it down every so often. Our feeling is that music is to be a pleasant background to accompany and enhance the meal. Our experience would have been far richer had the surroundings matched the excellent food.
