Always a good meal. Lately i tend to go in for the early price fixe, though used to dine off the regular menu. I sit at the bar, the young lady is a treat loves to talk food and drink with passion. The early price fixe is a by far the best deal in town - ok it is $45 but you get 5 sublime courses. The broths are the best I have had anywhere, Pine mushroom and the prawn are 2 that stand out. Gnochhi is like fluffy little pillows, risottos are cooked properly, a rarity in this town, and taste like a good risotto, a the cheesy goodness. The pork belly was another great dish, and it was not fatty. I will agree with the reviewer below, do not order oil poached fish and sous vide's are hit and miss and this is anywhere. The service is great and has been the same since I don't drink as much, most places givw worse service since I cut down on the alcohol. The lady behind the bar even made a special virgin cocktail for me on one visit, I didn't even have to ask it was just done, thank you!!!!!!!!!!

I keep getting sucked back here by out of towners and freinds wanting to highsign. The food is always average, like a chain with fancy presentation. the service is hit and miss. the room and patio are fab, but can't make up for the downsides. On one visit I ordered a manhattan and it came out wrong. When I pointed it out the waiteress apologized and went to get another one, but she came back and said that the bartender said that this was a Manhattan and he would make it no other way - it was on ice with something carbonated, bloody ru man, this is no high end place. I have eaten al a carte, chef's menu and all in between. I will only go back for dineout, and that is when others make reso.

Food and view to die for
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 8:11pm [Dine in]

Eaten here a few times, only the spagetthi carbonara was bad. When i pointed out that the sauce had seperated and was oily the waiter took it back to the kitchen and came back to tell me that that was how carbonara was and the chef would make me another but it would be the same. A serious disapointment for the price, I had to remind them to take the spagetthi off my bill, which was faced with an arguement, but was quickly rectified when I said that their tip was the spagetthi charge. That is the only complaint.

The view is to die for, with water and mountains to watch. The service is consistent, I have eaten alone, as a couple and in a group and each time it is the same, good job guys.

The food is the real star here. The appies are always good, the fois well accompanied. Skip the italian platter and pastas though - not strong points. The award winning fish, the tenderloin and the lamb are all outstanding. The accoutremants (Sp?) elevate the plates to the spectacular. Wine list is extensive and well chosen. Eat the chocolate sampler, but order two, you will want a second now matter how full you are.

Steveston's best.
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 8:02pm [Dine in]

Great food, good service, good times. Always a sure hit. When it opened not so good, now it is the best restaurant in Steveston. Papi's, Steveston pizza, and Little Mexico Cantina trail just behind. The food is always good, I have gone with about 20 different people and only my dad complained, he complains about everything unless he can use a coupon or it is below 3 bucks per meal. Vince is the consumate host with his pedigree (formerly of West) showing through out. The service is great especially if you get Carly. Sit on the patio when it is nice and you can see the ocean; too bad they are not on the water as Shady Island is downright awful- seriously do not eat there unless you are a risk taker, and the others are only slightly better. The steak is fabulous, lamb, succulent and the pork tenderloin to die for. Oh ya the seafood dishes rock, scallops appies always a 10. Save room for desert too, bring back the banofi pie.

Coffee worth driving for
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 7:32pm [Dine in]

Jason is a consumate host, he opened up and served me when he was closed. He saw I was wet and cold so he brewed me up a coffee, I am hooked. This is made differetly then any other coffee I have had, and the quality shines through. Try the cold dripped coffee, it is excellent. For the same price as a chain you support a local guy with ethical buying practises and the product is better. Flip through the albums while you wait and you will gain a sense of his passion.

Kisamos Greek Taverna3420 Moncton Street, Richmond
Feed an army with tasty treats
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 7:29pm [Dine in]

This place is an icon, I used to work there, which I won't elaborate on here. I return often as a customer. I love greek food and eat it often, but make the trip to Kisamos when I am craving it. The homous, roast lamb, and calamri (forgoing sandbars wok fried) are the best in the city, and I always order these 3 dishes. The seating is tight, you will know your neighbors well, but it is friendly. The same people would come in twice a week, and some families would get takeout twice a week, a true regualrs kind of place. Doogie bags are needed, even if you 420 before going in. An appy to share and a meal each, you will have leftovers. The deserts are good and made in house. i will send my grandkids there after I have kids first.

Keg Steakhouse & Bar, The11151 No. 5 Road, Richmond
Waaay over priced!!!
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 7:21pm [Dine in]

I have been going to Keg's for years, and this one is always the worst. The food varies from great to horrible, and I am talking about the same table, not different nights. The service is usually ok, but I like to see the same person for more than order taking and how was everything. I understand team serving but when you have a 4-6 table section you can easily stop by a table to check on drinks. For prime rib I go to milestones, steak, heck you can get better at any bar. I guess when you only hire youngins you get youngins quality. Too bad more veterans don't stick around in BOH and FOH.

Good for a treat
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 7:10pm [Dine in]

I have been here on multiple occasions, skip the breakfast and the buffets, a real wek spot. Dinner is always excellent, and it should it is by far Richmond's most expensive restaurant. Imaginative plates with fresh local ingredients. The tenderloin is always a sure fire bet, the game if they have any is always good too. Do yourself a favor and order a soup, especially if it is a fish based one, I am a picky fish eater, as they are a true strong point, the crab and corn chowder is outsanding when it is in. Deserts are average bu the tea is loose leaf in a french press, so go for that.

slow rude intolerable
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2007 - 6:55pm [Dine in]

Horrible, went with a friend for ice cream. Took any of the 10 customers over 5 minutes to be aknowledged, including the lady who asked if she could order, then left when she got no reply. Once an italian looking guy walked in the lady behind the counter finally began to serve, she did go straigh to him. She had to be pointed to the first customer in the now formed line as the person to help first. She said something and went to the till leaving rhe customer standing there dumbfounded. I went to order and got a 'you pay' to which I pulled out my money and said yes a mint chocolate please. 'You pay' again, even snottier, at this time we figured out that we were to pay first, then order, no signage no explanation, bloody rude I tell you. So I go to pay and get snapped at by the old (maybe her advanced age, looks about 75, has shortened her temper, but usually elders are pleasant) lady, as has 2 other customers for no reason. My friend wanted Ice- cream but I couldn't support them. Too bad they will lose wholesale clients over this one, never know who is in your shop.
