Way overpriced, and not even good
Submitted Monday, June 28, 2010 - 9:24pm [Dine in]

Unfortunately, the rocky point cafe where we were originally going was closed, so my friend decided sushi was a good bet (i like sushi, just didn't know the area).

For 6 bucks a dynamite roll, you would think it would be big, or the very least delicious and the place would have a decent wine list. We ordered ebi gyoza, ebi mayo, salmon sashimi, and a dynamite roll each. My friend also ordered a pop (in a glass bottle) and 4 pieces of nigiri.

The ebi mayo was pretty good, but its hard to screw up something fried. the gyoza sounded good but were gross, they sprayed out water or something when you chewed into them. The prawns were probably frozen and defrosted through soaking in water before being put in the gyoza. The shell tasted like tortilla..... very chewy. The dynamite had way too much mayo or old avocado, something to make it too creamy. With the wild rice (which could be a nice touch, but wasn't in this case) it just all fell apart and tasted like a mess. The sashimi was OK and probably the only decent part. slightly room temperature.

Our bill came to 52 bucks no tip, no drinks. w-t-f

The service was good though, and the ambiance was nice. Would never ever come back here.

Really just a neighbourhood pub
Submitted Tuesday, June 15, 2010 - 10:03am [Dine in]

I would never come here if it wasn't 3 blocks from me, but for a neighbourhood pub it has good drink specials, and really good food specials. Me and a few friends who live near me go for 1/2 price appies (everyday from 3-6) once in awhile.

It looks like a pub that was going to start out looking nice then they ran out of money. cheap patio chairs, old uncomfortable chairs inside, and stickers on the tv.

Service has been everywhere, but unfortunately we usually get a server who is GRUMPY!!! we always tip well, but we have given up trying to tip her well to see if that makes her happy. work for your more than 10%, don't expect it for frowning. or at least ask us how we're doing or anything similar!!!!

If you live around here, like walking distance, I recommend, but if your driving I would hit up Guildford station or Big ridge

I don't know why this place isn't busier
Submitted Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - 1:56pm [Dine in]

Me and some gfs went here late on a friday night. I came very late (around 12) after they had a bottle of wine and whineos and a couple of cosmos at the edge. I made them order food and I quickly catched up with my own cosmos. I told the server I was industry (which is usually code for I drink alot and tip well) and to keep coming around because I needed to catch up to my gfs. She didn't come around enough but not enough to ruin our night. The music was too loud, considering it is more of a lounge setting not a night club but since they are newer I let it slide. I had the lemon meringue martini and couldn't get enough of it, especially since it has REAL graham cracker rim. The food we had was pretty good which was a flatbread on the late night menu. What made me come back though was our bill for the night was only about 120. for 3 girls, some food and alot of cosmos on granville that is astoundingly cheap. my gf who couldn't remember writing out a review sent it in and recieved a free appie coupon recently. We will be going back, especially for a pre drink before the clubs and if wings doesn't have a good bartender working.

Getting better!
Submitted Tuesday, March 2, 2010 - 1:34pm [Dine in]

There have been complaints about the decrease in menu size, but if the food is getting better and doesn't take an hour without a HUGE increase in price isn't that an improvement?
I keep trying this place, and seem to have a better experience every time. Good job management! I love the pizza, which is 1/2 price on sundays with an pint of the white or lager for 3.50. The fries are an absolute must. The service is still my turning point if I'm deciding between places since I have not had a good server yet. If I did I would make sure to have them again, and only go when they are working. But alas, last time I went me and my platonic friend on valentines day before checking out the surrey pavillion we only waited at the door for a few minutes, and our server after we sat down for about 5-10 minutes, but she did seem busy with a large party so it's forgivable. They do need a regular host to tell the servers that they have a table, and maybe a bartender for if you want to sit at the bar.

BTW there was a baby crawling on the bar. management why would you allow this? the lounge area is supposed to be adults, hence why we go.....

I work in a bar about 10minutes out of richmond, and sometimes me and the girls I work with go out for no.9 at 3am after work. We don't expect good service, since most of us are white (hate to say it, but when i went with asian friends and they ordered in chinese we had way better service) but last time we went there were 3 of us. we shared a vegetarian dish, some sort of pork dish and beef and brocoli. we stated we were sharing and one of us had a mushroom allergy. over and over. Guess what was in the dishes besides the lemon chicken? when we mentioned it to our server she took the dishes to the side and picked it out!!!! when we said we didnt want it and werent paying for it the manager came over and apologised profusely. this was after 2 servers argued in chinese literally across our table. the dish we ordered that was pork smelled like bad fish when it went by as well. also our beef and brocoli came with beef and some other green vegetable, that was good but not brocoli. will come back, but only when we are really hungry and dont want dennys.

Love it!
Submitted Sunday, October 4, 2009 - 11:05am [Dine in]

Me and anyone I bring here (to the hard to find staircase) loves it. The sashimi is fresh and a good selection, the rolls are tastey and don't taste or seem pre made, the hot food is actually hot and the service actually SMILES and TALKS! Plus the view over the quay is awesome. We usually go for weekend lunches, and have never had a bad experience (except if you count when we were celebrating after my triathlon and I ate about 500 bucks worth and they stopped coming to us, which is a bit understandable), and we love the dinner for occasions, since it is just over 20 bucks. Definately good if you want a calmer, tastey ayce experience.

My lemon prawns were either overcooked, or left out too long and were completely unedible, and even had a funny smell about them. Since the server hadn't come by to check on us by the time i had finished my side salad, I walked back to the kitchen to get some attention. They didn't offer me a free meal, or even offer to pay for it. I told the managers that they were f**ken idiots and left without paying (I only had that in a large party with water). Sure it was a d**k move but if I can't eat the food, get attention from a server, or deal with managers why the hell should I support that franchise?
and to the person below me, you should try out schanks in queensborough, its only a little bit of highway driving from BP nordel and unless its a hockey game or ppv they will have room, look it up on here.

Me and a date came here after Milestone's was full (we didn't realise it was their 1/2 price date night), and we called ahead of time so we didn't have to wait as long in person. We were seated within about 5 minutes, but weren't asked if we wanted to be on the patio or inside, so we ended up moving to the GORGEOUS patio anyways. I was in a tiny black dress and I had forgotten my jacket so without asking our server brought me a nice fleece blanket for the wind, which was a huge plus. I had a bellini which was the best I've had as it wasn't completely sugar ridden and you could taste the rum, while the date had a few different kinds of mojitos. We started with the ginger beef that was a little too saucey and bready with very little meat, and I had a viva salad with no onions and dressing on the side while the date had alfredo. He seemed to be enjoying his meal (which wasn't the usually disgustingly huge portion you get of pasta at most restaurants), and mine was so fresh with interesting ingredients and moist chicken that I ended up scarffing it down. I wanted to bring the dressing home with me! Very tasty. We turned down dessert, but lingered and enjoyed the sunset. I highly recommend this place for bellinis and cheap pitchers (12.99 for a good variety) on wednesdays!

Very helpful staff
Submitted Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 8:10pm [Dine in]

I've been to the foggy dew quite a few times, mainly for birthdays and good ol' rowdiness. Recently, I had my 20th birthday there and nearing the end of the night my clutch popped open on the dance floor and everything came flying out (except my new camera thank god, but including my cell phone). I couldn't find my black phone ANYWHERE on the dance floor, and was sitting in the corner skulking when a bouncer asked me what was wrong. I told him about how I lost my phone (I didn't care about my lip gloss etc) and couldn't find it anywhere. We left without it and my dad recieved a call the next morning from the same bouncer I talked to from my cell. It was in pieces all over the floor apparently (it was scuffed up, and the memory card was missing) and the bouncer actually drove closer to me to give me back my phone without asking for anything in return. I highly recommend this place for 20-30 somethings if your looking for a rowdy good time with a large variety of people and super nice staff.

This was one of my top sushi places in surrey to go to (it's great for going for a movie right after, or taking a walk in green timbers), but one day i decided to order take out, and alaska roll and salmon sashimi.

So this costing 17 dollars, i figured it would be what i ordered. but when i looked at the bill it said "smoked salmon roll and salmon sashimi", now as most sushi lovers know alaska roll is essentially raw salmon and california roll. when i inquired about this (i HATE cooked salmon) they acted defensive and refused to fix it/discount it. so they lost a very loyal customer

10.95 and you have an omelette bar AND tonnes of fruit? And it all actually tastes good? AND LOTS OF BEER ON TAP AND DECENT SPECIALS?!

This used to be where I spent every sunday morning (dont worry, after I did the grouse grind or something just as rigorous), but unfortunately both me and the people from coquitlam I would go with started working sunday mornings. I highly recomend it, its even worth the drive if your a big breakfast lover!

Mixed feelings
Submitted Monday, July 28, 2008 - 10:32am [Dine in]

I've been to dublins on many occasions as I have alot of friends in that area, or they work over there. I find that the more complicated menu items you get (entrees, layered drinks etc) the worse it gets. Otherwise getting a burger or salad is usually pretty tasty but still overpriced. I really dislike how they don't sell pitchers there, especially because I do always go with at least 2 other people. One of my favourite beers (Dead frog lager) happens to be the cheapest, and I find that I get sup par service compared to the people (especially guys) I'm with drinking mgd, guiness or stella. I serve in one of the busiest pubs in vancouver, so I might be a little bit critical but either way I know what I'm talking about. Ive noticed since I first came in january, it has gotten slightly quieter. I even was there around 11pm on a Saturday night when there was no sports going on and There were still a few tables open, which was unheard of before.
Unfortunately, I think that even though the price is set by the demographic, if they don't start lowering their prices they are going into the sinkhole, with the price of gas who needs to pay 6.25 for a pint of domestic?
