Pleasantly Surprised
Submitted Saturday, July 28, 2012 - 9:57am [Dine in]

Small menu but food was very good as was the service. Prices quite reasonable too although portions were on the small side. I was surprised to see it wasn't busy there when we dined however on show nights it can be. A good option to their Metro Bistro inside the casino which is way over priced!

Went the other day. The bread served in a basket cheap white bread, no flavour or texture. Had spaghetti and steak. Steak tough, over seasoned. Spaghetti only so-so. Friend opted for salad instead of pasta. Just sliced tomatoes on a bed of plain lettuce. That's a salad?! Nothing else!

Prices thru' the roof. Ridiculously overpriced. Decor is 50 years old. Better meals at Anton's or even Boston Pizza. Will never return. Honestly can't see why others do. Perhaps they are clinging to memories.

The only positive is the friendly and fairly prompt service.

This Place Needs A Makeover!!
Submitted Wednesday, June 20, 2012 - 8:31am [Dine in]

Just ate there and had a featured item, ribs and chicken. The half-rack of baby back ribs was really small with very little meat on the bone. The chicken was supposed to be "lightly breaded" but was nothing more than a large dry chicken strip.

My son had fish and chips which were very greasy. They were much better before.

The carpeting looked dirty and was torn in several places. This location has really gone downhill!

Terrible Fish n Chips!!
Submitted Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 3:39pm [Dine in]

Just had lunch there and it wasn't busy. Why? Maybe the food has gotten worse? The fish was a bit greasy and the chips were dark meaning they were old and deep fried twice. They tasted stale. They were also overpriced,

The New England clam chowder was ok though.

Service was friendly and decor was decent enough.

Won't go back, that's for sure.

This is a very overrated place. Although food is pretty good, the portions are getting smaller! Last time we were there in a group of four there was a line up at the door. We were just finishing and the young server said "We're busy, you go now!" I wish now I had just replied "Thanks for the info, we'll leave when we are finished. No tip for you!"

Don't bother having lunch here unless you've got at least an hour and a half. It took almost 50 minutes to receive our order which we ended up taking with us as we were late getting back to work. Servivce has gone downhill. Food which is ok, nothing outstanding, has portions which are smaller and prices are up. Ambience with all the artifacts is interesting and is good for basically the tourists. Sorry, it's hard to be very positive about this place.

Been to the Moxie's on Davie St a few times and I can't recommend it enough. Try their spinach salad. Fantastic! Decor is extremely modern and well done. Love the washrooms too. Service was friendly and fast. The prices are very reasonable too.

Went there on Saturday for lunch. We've been before and wasn't overly impressed on that occassion but this time it was worse. The service was very slow and the food terrible. The french fries were overly seasoned or salted and not even hot. Although the server was pleasant they are understaffed and poorly managed. Stick to their food cart at the other end of the casino. Not cheap, but a lot faster.

UGH!

A friend and I picked up the nerve to try this place despite being laughed at by others. We both tried the fish n chips. The little sign in the window said the "best in town". I beg to differ. I would say the WORST we have ever had. Extremely greasy and the chips were pathetic. I think their oil hasn't been changed in some time. Although the owners are nice and friendly, this place seems to cater to the older, single male on a very fixed income. Very sad.

With so many good fish 'n chip places around like C-Lovers or Kings Fare I can't recommend this place. No ambiance at all, just a greasy spoon. Nice people, trying hard, but when you have Fish n Chips as part of your restaurant's name, you better serve some quality. The fish batter was greasy and the chips nothing special either.

Just as well as their chicken was pretty greasy and spicy. Too bad the quality couldn't have improved as it would have been a nice alternative to KFC or Churchs Chicken (which is still the best by far). Great location so hopefully another restaurant will take over.

Heard a lot about this place so had to try it. Nice setting by the dock. Staff could be friendlier I thought. I had fish and chips and my wife had oysters. Hers were so-so and she prefers C-Lovers for oysters. My fish and chips were good but I still like King's Fare a lot more!

I've tried fish and chips all over the lower mainland including some highly touted and overrated places down on the beach in White Rock such as Moby Dick. While I'll usually go to C-Lovers for convenience which is consistently very good, if I want a real treat, we go to King's Fare down in Marpole. Cozy little place and the food.....ah, what dreams are made of! Incredible fish 'n chips.

Went there a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday evening with a group of people. Our first time there. Unpretentious, but warm and cozy with friendly staff. Food and service were very good, nothing fantastic. They had a singer who payed the keyboards and also roamed around with his accordion. He was great and a lot of fun! Overall, a nice little place and reasonably priced. Even better, they take the Entertainment coupons!
