Best AYCE in Richmond
Submitted Wednesday, May 12, 2010 - 7:29pm [Dine in]

I've been to this place several times being from Richmond this is the best AYCE place in Richmond. I've read all the negative reviews here and don't beleive them...

Food:
- The sushi rolls are always fresh and large unlike other AYCE places.
- The terriyaki and tempura is also excellent and fresh.
- Overall this place has excellent food and great value.

Service:
- Nothing much to say here, its always solid.

Value:
- The price of there AYCE is great for the type of quality good you get. Most AYCE places' quality of food is terrible.

Ambiance:
- The place looks a little tacky with the bright colours and gold but a little colour never hurt anyone.

Grossly Overrated
Submitted Saturday, May 8, 2010 - 12:32pm [Dine in]

I cannot even begin to express my disappointment for this place. First off I waited in line and I was thinking this place must have something good to offer since there's so many people waiting to eat her - I was wrong.

Food:
- My party started off with the potato wedges which were terrible; burnt, over-salted and we also ordered their gravy...oh my I cannot even begin to describe the disgust: it was sour and tasted like vinegar.
- I then ordered some tofu salad and honestly it felt like I was paying for a heap of alfalfa sprouts and beats. Their house dressing they are known for (supposedly) tasted like grass - no flavor whatsoever.

Service:
- With a full restaurant there was probably 3 people waiting tables which was terrible and in return the service suffered greatly.

Value:
- I paid like $15 for sprouts and veges that I can at home for maybe one fourth of what I paid. For the price I paid and the food/service I got this was a joke.

Ambiance:
- They have live music on the weekends I think or they did the day I went which was on the weekend which was not bad.
- The decor and furniture is so outdated and rickety. This place is a hole.

I would never go back. If you want to try a better all vegetarian place go to THE FOUNDATION.

My girlfriend and I walked into this place and was greeted by the manager who was working @ the front. He was friendly and helped us out with the whole hot-pot thing since we have never tried it before.

He spoke great english and was extremely friendly, you dont really get many people who speak fluent english in any AYCE environments.

The food was fresh and tasted great, the best AYCE sushi place we have ever eaten at, the manager came over to see how we were doing with the hot-pot as well. Simply great service.

The price of the deluxe menu is worth the price and lastly the ambiance of this place is great - the decore is stunning, except the bathroom was flooded from the toilet - I didnt really need to use the bathroom except to wash my hangs so I didnt care.

This will be the AYCE place I eat at from now on.

Do Not be Mistaken By Other Reviewers

I walked into this place expecting big things from the past reviews. I was completely wrong.

This place is a zoo on the night I went - it was so busy. First thing I noticed was some random "foliage" inside this place. I have no idea what that was about, its like I was eating in a forest. This place definetly needs to renovate ASAP.

The service was decent we got seated promptly and the food came out quickly. Probably because the kitchen is just churning out pre-cooked meals.

I had the Greek lamb chops, they were undercooked since I was not asked how I would like them, one side was brown while the other seemed to be sitting for sometime and had a light texture to it, the greek salad was tomatoes and pretty much nothing else, the rice seemed like it was sitting for a few days and re-heated. My girlfriend had the steak-special for $10.99, it was the worse cut of meat I have ever seen, nd everything was served with a huge portion of deep-fried bread...nasty.

The service was decent but just the bare minimum for any place. I would not go back here again. It just shows - you get what you pay for.

Good Times Not So Great Food
Submitted Sunday, March 15, 2009 - 11:47pm [Dine in]

I love coming to the place to watch any sporting event. The TV's are everywhere and there is no bad place to sit - clear view of at least 4-5 TV's. The ambiance of this place is amazing, they have a pool table, virtual golf, an arcade and mini-golf, not to mention a huge bar.

The food is kind of weak though, there's not to expect from a place like this but I was expecting better than what I got, the wings are good but other than that everything else is barely worth the money.

I cannot complaint about the service, every time I go here each server is taking care of about 40-60 people. Its hard to find your server but I cant complaint when this place is at capacity for a UFC or Canucks fight.

Overall this is the best place to go in the GVRD to watch any sporting event. NOTHING even comes close, I will go to this place over and over again.

Submitted Friday, February 27, 2009 - 4:13pm [Dine in]

This place is run-down and grungy. I can't believe I even ended up eating here. I went there for breakfast with my girlfriend and the moment I stepped inside I smelled a scent of piss, it was probably the walls and ground soaking up the years of crap. There was graffiti everywhere and the bathrooms were the worst I have ever seen.

The food was meh...nothing great. But what can you expect when you pay $3? The eggs were like rubber, the potatoes were burnt and the sauceage was interesting...

I would never go here again.

Submitted Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - 1:53am [Dine in]

Food:
- The salad and soup along with the breadsticks are great.
- The salad is really some things thrown together; the ice berg lettuce sometimes isnt even broken up properly but it is always fresh.
- All 3 choice of soups are great and the breadsticks are amazing with or without the dipping sauces.
- The Chicken Marsala is amazing - must have!

Service:
- We went on a Tuesday night so it wasnt busy - no complaints.
- I guess we need to go back on a Saturday to see what its all about.

Ambiance:
- This place looks amazing. Rustic kind of look.
- Super clean and great standards.

Everything in perspective this place is a little over-priced. I guess the free appy food makes up for that...?

Food:
- The slouvaki is amazing here and not only is the Greek food good but there are other items that are equally great.
- The value of the food is great - it is pricier compared to other Greek joints but the qualify is head and shoulders above the others.

Service:
- Service was solid, no complaints at all.

Ambiance:
- The place had great decor, 2 flat screens in the bar - I love the seating arranagements.

Overall this place is one of the best places I have ever been for Greek food.

Great good, great live music
Submitted Monday, November 17, 2008 - 10:33am [Dine in]

FOOD:
- I had the 4 dip with pita, my girlfriend and I had never been here before so we kept the appy pretty much fool-proof. It was great and pita was fresh and dips were amazing.
- We had lamb-chops for the entree and it was amazing, so fresh and grilled perfectly. The meat was so fresh (unlike most greek places where the lamb has a horrible after taste and effect).

Service:
- No complaint all was well and we were well attended to.

Ambiance:
- The decor is decent - all other Greek places are extremely tacky but not this place.
- The live music is great and the small little stage offers great entertainment.

Terrible Service
Submitted Friday, November 14, 2008 - 2:57pm [Dine in]

FOOD:
- The food was great and fresh for AYCE standards.
- The rolls were also good considering they are all pre-made

SERVICE:
- Terrible is the only way to describe it, we were still eating our food and we had the waitress grab the food from right under us.
- The waitress's do not speak one word of English - I know this isn't there fault but someone who can at least explain what the items are on the menu would be great.

AMBIANCE:
- Great decor.

This place is always busy - I guess its because of the food because its not for the service!!!

Not bad for the value
Submitted Friday, November 14, 2008 - 2:28pm [Dine in]

Food:
- The food portions are massive, anything you order is huge!
- The quality of the food is decent, I ordered the lasagna and there arent many places that can cook it well - it was still a little cold in the middle but it was a huge stack so I guess that is why.

Service:
- The service was good, for how busy it is the waitress was fast and efficent.
- She was also gorgeous by the way - not all of them are but we got lucky.

Eating the whole meal is not worth the crappy pen though - so don't stuff yourself!

This place is great, we were greated by a lady as soon as we walked in. It is a little bit of a take out/self serve place rather than a full on dining experience (sometime like a Nando's). The food was amazing, I didnt know you get BBQ like that in Vancouver. The had the brisket and it was amazing! The fixens were great too. They even have authentic Southern pop and drinks as well. I have been going here for a long time and will keep coming back.

Nasty
Submitted Thursday, August 21, 2008 - 7:05pm [Dine in]

FOOD:
The only good thing is the chicken teriyaki because it comes in the skillet and is hot. That being said that sushi is terrible with brown ovacado in the Cali Rolls, the rolls are sometimes falling apart. The other items are always cold and sometimes seem like they are reheated. The spring roll I had when I went there had been sitting in the bowl for sometime because when I picked it up it was all soggy and white on the bottom, clearly that was someone else's left overs. Overall the food is terrible except the Chicken Teriyaki.

SERVICE:
The ladies speak next to no english so it is extremely hard to understand them or communicate. I asked for ice water more than 3 times until I got it and the same lady would just walk by and ignore my gesture to get her attention. Everytime you ask the waitress for something is seems like they are doing a huge favour for you and are reluctant to do so for you. Overall the service is the worst I have ever had.

AMBIANCE:
The place is filthy, the washrooms have graffiti all over them the chairs in the dining area are falling apart and the place is just a mess. The kitchen area must be a bigger mess.

I will never go back here again, the food, the service and the place itself is terrible

Amazing place with crappy food and service
Submitted Saturday, August 16, 2008 - 6:14pm [Dine in]

This place has the potential for being amazing. The service is worse than the food, the waitresses come every 20 minutes or so even when it is not busy and good luck trying to track someone down, the place is so big you have to leave your meal to go find a waitress.
The food is terrible, I have been there 3 times since I work in the building for lunch and everytime the food has been consistently bad. This place has the potential to be so good.
Lastly, the beer that they brew in there own micro-brewery isnt that bad but the other things about this place out weigh this.

Amazing food, great decore
Submitted Saturday, August 16, 2008 - 6:02pm [Dine in]

We came upon this place from a suggestion of a friend. The place is kind of cramped but the decore is great, the funky wallpaper adds a nice touch. We ordered the pizza's here, just to play it safe since we've never been here and didnt know what to expect. I must say the pizza was amazing, with fresh spinach and tomatoes. We were not dissappointed with our food. I will definetly come back to this place.

Good food, mediocre service
Submitted Saturday, August 16, 2008 - 5:56pm [Dine in]

Went here last night, my girlfirend and I always drive by and there is always a line up so we decided to check it out. The place is so tacky, the decore really needs to be toned down a bit.
They started the meal off with salsa and nachos, the salsa was fresh and amazing! The rest of the food not so much, just seemed like everything was slapped together. The ingredients were fresh but the ensemble was not that appealing.
We also shared a pitched of sangria and as the past people have reported it was way to sweet.
All in all the place was okay, nothing special and I definetly do not know why there is always a line-up at this place.

Submitted Wednesday, June 25, 2008 - 7:35pm [Dine in]

The service was amazing! The food wasn't that great with the exception of the wings. The washroom was the pits, there was piss everywhere. Nothing special, good for good cheap wings, and the waitresses there are great! The drinks there were also good and the specials that they have on a daily basis are not bad either. The only thing of concern is the clealiness

Submitted Monday, April 28, 2008 - 6:24pm [Dine in]

The food was decent the sushi boat did come within 5 minutes so the sushi is definetly premade. The service was slow and it took like 15 minutes for the check to come. The people are friendly and the place looks really good even though it is crowded.

Lastly, try the green tea ice cream! ...really good!!!

Submitted Monday, April 28, 2008 - 6:16pm [Dine in]

I went to Joey's on a Friday night for the first time. The service from the get go was amazing. We were greeted by the host, had the door opened for us. I was blown away.
We started off with the humous and pita. The pitas are made fresh on site and made to order. It was served with a size of brushetta. I didn't know something so simple could taste so amazing but this place was amazing.
As an entree we had the 9oz serloin and shared that with my girlfriend. The steak was perfectly booked and seared in all the good stuff inside. I had a side of the deep friend mash potatoes - I don't know who came up with that but he's a genious! And a size of mushrooms in garlic butter. The entree was extremely well done and cooked to prefection.
I don't know why people are saying this place is pricey - it's not. A dinner for one person cost us 30 dollars. Compared to other places thats decent for a steak dinner of this calibre.
Lastly, the waitress was hot and a pleasure. The place has amazing decore and I would definetly come back over and over again!

First off this is the best chinese/indian restraunt out there. The food is amazing and always good! Being indian, I love the authenic indian taste with the chinese twist. The menu is huge, and everything is worth a shot. The ambiance of the place is probably the only downfall along with the service. They lack professionalism like other places BUT the food more than makes up for it.
