Pizza Garden Deux
Submitted Thursday, May 16, 2013 - 1:41pm [Take-out]

The review posted below me is absolutely right! Pizza Garden is awesome. Lots of pizza places in the Lower Mainland, and being a pizza snob there's only a few I really dig. I wrote a review on their Smithe location in downtown Vancouver and I hadn't had the chance to try it again until I stopped into their New Westminster location. It's conveniently located right at the skytrain station, bonus.

Pizza Garden offers quite authentic tasting Neopolitan pizza and do it by the slice, and even offer delivery. I grabbed a couple of slices and a drink to go and it only came to $5! Their fior de latte cheese really makes the pizza, it melts perfectly in that wood fired oven and their brilliantly red tomato sauce is super fresh.

It's cool that you can get pizza of an 'upper crust' quality (pun completely intended) in New West without having to sit down for a restaurant meal that will cost you an arm and a leg. Pizza Garden has a nice thing going. It's been consistently great each time I've had it and I definitely will be having it time and time again.

This pizza was so good! Really different too. I'd heard a friend of mine talking about how they tried Pizza Garden when they were on the Drive, so when I saw this Smithe location I thought "there's no time like the present" so I popped in. Glad I did!

I've really wanted to try this Neapolitan kind of pizza, but most places seem to be sit down restaurants and are really pricey. Not so with Pizza Garden. You can sit in to eat if you'd like, which is cool, but you can also order for takeout AND delivery. They also sell by the slice, which is perfect if you're looking to try something new for the first time!

I wasn't sure I wanted a whole pizza so I grabbed a slice of the Primo, which is really like a deluxe meat pizza (pepperoni, genoa salami, ham, mushrooms) done Neapolitan style. The crust is thinner than regular pizza, the sauce is a vibrant red and tastes really fresh, and the cheese is unlike your usual mozzarella (this cheese is fior de latte, classy!). Being cooked in the wood fired stone hearth definitely added greatly to the taste(and creates genuine authenticity of course). After the first bite I knew that I definitely could have ordered a finished a whole pizza, it was really tasty.

Always nice to have a good first experience when trying something new!

Jumbo Bite
Submitted Thursday, March 21, 2013 - 3:59pm [Dine in]

THE pizza place in the very heart of downtown Vancouver's entertainment district. It's no coincidence that this Megabite location gets a ton of business not only due to its location but the fact there is a pizza place that can offer it to you in a fresh, fast, and affordable fashion. Like in the movie "if you build it they will come".

I went in to grab some lunch, stood in the line with the other pizza lovers who wanted something that didn't taste like cardboard with tomatoes on it. As I was waiting I was getting hungrier and hungrier looking at the pizzas coming out; spicy mushroom, pepperoni, grilled chicken, so on. I ended up getting the Jumbo Box (8 slices from the shelf for $12), I literally got 8 types of pizza for the price of one. I pulled up a chair and devoured a few slices, then took the rest home with me content and stuffed.

Best Late Night Pizza Ever
Submitted Wednesday, March 20, 2013 - 11:20am [Delivery]

To preface, let me say that Megabite has the best pizza no matter what time of day it is. When my friends and I ordered from their 1005 Granville location this past time it did, however, happen to be on the later side of midnight. We've all stopped in for a late night slice on many occasions, but as this particular night wound down we were too tired/lazy/partied out to make the (relatively short) trek from my friend's apartment downtown.

But Megabite delivers! They're open late night, we love their pizza, and they'll bring it right the door even if it's 1:00am. Perfect. So we called them up and ordered the double decker deal (we did 2XL - their new Carnivore pizza is delicious, and a classic Hawaiian, which is always excellent. Oh, and the garlic dip. Can never forget that). For $30 that's a good amount of pizza. It arrived in short order, the driver was friendly, the pizza looked (and later tasted) great, and it was all fresh. Perfect way to end the evening! It's awesome to know that all Megabite locations do take out, delivery, and pizza by the slice.
