Yes, the dinner was NOT good. I went with my family. All four of us were disappointed.
The service was incredibly slow, in fact, they didn't even care to tend to us at all. Good full service restaurants have servers who are aware of their customers at all times. Watering their glasses, replacing/clearing plates...
None.
The sashimi slices were paper thin and the quality was the same as what I could by at a small, local place downtown. But the prices are hiked up.
The chef's choices of assorted sashimi and sushi are sh*t choices. The cheap stuff.... salmon, tuna, ebi.... nothing special.
Their nabe-udon has BEEF and is made with BEEF broth. Do not be fooled because MOST Japanese nabe-udon is pure seafood.
Anyways, I will definitely not pay to go here again. We paid 14% tip, but wanted to leave without tipping since they barely left anything to remember.
Go as often as I can. I'm an avid fan of Japanese cuisine, although, this place is run by Chinese folks.
It's quick, cheap, easy. Location is pretty bad, but has good free parking. Has a very pleasant head sushi chef, can barely speak English but is kind. Kind wait staff too.
The place is under new ownership and it's definitely worse off than the previous owners.
The new owner/manager needs to learn to better delegate tasks and jobs because he is a basket-case. He is frazzled and stressed and his tension runs off on his customers. My father and I visit this location but will move elsewhere in search of a regular spot. Nice place, but it feels like it's a struggle under current regulations and care. Probably could use extra help...
Kitchen comes out with good food though, but they need to bake more daily muffins.
The food was pretty decent, but I didn't really feel I got my money's worth. It's cozy and cute, but the music really annoyed me after about 10 minutes. I thought they had a fantastic range of baked goods, but I think it's really just known for its breads. I wouldn't go for a meal really... I wouldn't really go for coffee either, but it's a convenient location and a nice place to escape the rain when you forget your umbrella.
