Not Chilliwack "Best Dining" Experience

My husband and I came to Jackson's for our anniversary as we had been the year prior for his birthday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apparently a change in ownership since our last visit.

What a disappointment. This restaurant was great before the new owner took over.

Two pieces of cut baguette served on a butcher board that were cold and had obviously been left sitting out because the side exposed to air was crusted over.

Appetizer was greasy.

Main course was sub par and terribly presented. "Stuffed" potato looked as though it had been stuffed and left sitting for hours before being served and on top of that was cold. (Not warm; cold). New potatoes were provied 15 minutes into the meal. (Kind of pointless at that juncture) Meat was not cooked as requested; came out much rarer than requested, blood red not pink. "Seasonal vegetables" looked as though they had been cut up for a stew not for a steak plate; yams and carrots with two stalks (not tips, actual stalks) of yellow stringy asparagus one-and-half inches long.

On top of this, I asked for one glass of wine and an extra glass as my husband no longer enjoys wine, but would not want me to sit and drink alone so would have a "sip" with me. I was presented with and charged for two glasses of wine.

Our opinion on the meal was asked and when politely told of our disappointment no compensation was offered other than in the owner's words "are you sure you would not like dessert. I would have comp'd it anyway as it is a special occasion." The meal was so disappointing we weren't up to trying a what probably would have been a disappointing close to a very sad experience. Was offering us a free dessert that would have been provided gratis anyway supposed to make us feel better?

It was obvious that we were disappointed in the meal yet still we were presented with a full bill. There was absolutely no compensation given for the horrible experience. This was truly the worst dining experience I have had in 55 years in the Lower Mainland. We should have left without the paying the bill, but we're just not that way inclined. An utterly negative experience.
