Blue Water Cafe + Raw Bar1095 Hamilton Street, Vancouver
I love the seafood here

I've always loved coming to BWC, and whenever there is a special occasion, this is my restaurant of choice. I like raw fish and seafood, and in Vancouver there are very few that have the quality that Blue Water does.

I have not had their non-seafood dishes ever before, so I can't comment. Perhaps I will have the opportunity when we go to the DOV later this month.

The Tuna there is fantastic, with the Ahi Tuna carpacio one of the best raw tuna appy's I have ever had. A bit heavier on the sauce, but that is what makes it different and makes it something more than just standard ahi tuna. The Boulliabase is the best I have ever had, and is an outstanding value at under $30 for this kind of restaurant. My favourite appetizers here are the sashimi dishes, however. The Tuna Gomaee is AMAZING. I don't know what else to say about it besides that. It is such a great tasting dish, and the fish is fresh. The other Sashimi appy that is really good is the Scallop Sashimi. It is mixed in a sort of japanese mayo with flying fish roe spread throughout... and it is melt-in-your mouth good.

Every time I go here it does not disappoint! Great atmosphere too if you like something with a little more energy and on the casual side of fine dining.

Jade Seafood Restaurant8511 Alexandra Road, Richmond
My favourite Chinese Restaurant

I've gone to other restaurants, and time and time again I come back to the Jade. The service is top notch, and perhaps because I go more often now, they recognize me and even call me by name sometimes.

I love that the menu changes every month or so. I keeps me interested in ordering and keeps me looking at the menu for something new to try out. Alfred and all the other managers there are great too because if I need some help picking out some new dishes they are always happy to recommend something for me to try.

I think the food here is a tremendous value compared with all western food. For example, the Beef Tenderloin dish has 6 peices, I would guess about 2.5 ounces each for $19.95. That's 15 ounces of beef tenderloin.

Prawn dishes are great. Unlike previous reviewer, I really enjoyed the Golden crispy prawns. The "batter" as he calls it is actually preserved egg yolk, and it is cooked with soybeans and tastes fantastic in my opinion. Maybe a bit on the greasy side but not something I would throw out. Perhaps I am just not as healthy as he/she.

The Shark's Fin and Abalone here are one of the best things they have to offer. Always fantastic. Also don't forget to try the Snake Soup... a huge meal sized bowl for $7.99, can't go wrong there!

I have to say that the value of the food at the Jade is awesome. I can't say enough good about the place. I try to go at least once every two weeks or more!
