Bad experience with brunch & afternoon tea
Submitted Saturday, October 10, 2009 - 2:50pm [Dine in]

I went to provence marinaside about 3 weeks ago for brunch. The food was great, but I got really poor service. The server almost never checked on our table, didn't ask how we were doing. It always took forever to look for her. I heard that the food was worth the wait, but I did not wait 45 minutes to receive this kind of service.

I went to the afternoon tea with my boyfriend again just yesterday. I knew that the restaurant wasn't in afternoon tea, but the food was simply not good. I've had a lot of afternoon tea experience and this one is the worst yet. The scones were flat, and the savory section was poorly done as well. Even though there was a nice view, the tables around us were not cleaned up. I expected more from this restaurant. I don't thing i'll come back again for a very long time.

Loved It :D

My boyfriend and I spent a wonderful night there! Our server, Katie, provided awesome service, and their crab promotion on-going right now ( only $3 to add crab legs to any steak) is a great steal. We first ordered the clam chowder soup to start, and I ordered the filet migno for my entree. My boyfriend ordered the sirloin and we loved both of our dishes !! We ended the night with the chocolate souffle dessert! It was very delicious but we were both too full (the entrees were very big, especially with the added crab legs) to finish it even when we are sharing one dessert dish!

The decor is probably their signature for the restaurant! Very unique, chic, and modern. If you are looking for an urban place to spend a night, it's definately a great spot. Their lounge, and patio looks AMAZING as well ! Even the decor of the washrooms, with couches and TV's!!

We loved our experience at Chop, and will definately go back very soon :)

Bad service
Submitted Wednesday, January 21, 2009 - 12:59am [Dine in]

I went to Diva at the Met for my last birthday after reading the great reviews from dinehere.ca. However, I was very disappointed to receive such bad service, especially on my special day. Our waiter did not even come around to make sure we had enough water. My friends wanted to surprise me with a birthday cake. Our waiter decided to ask our table, who the birthday girl actually is, and asked if we were ready for the cake yet.

Other than the poor service that they are suppose to be known for, everything else was decent. (not memorable but decent) The ambience was quite nice and that's why I gave it a 4.

Otherwise, I don't think I'll be returning to this restaurant soon.

Cozy little dessert place
Submitted Monday, February 18, 2008 - 4:38am [Dine in]

It's quite hidden..I've never heard of it until a friend of mine told me about it!
First of all, I have to say i love sweets! And when my friend told me that she finally found a place to eat dessert in richmond, I was thrilled.

The place is small, but warm and cozy.
The cakes were japanese styled. The light sort of cheesecake, and desserts are not as sweet as the other places. I have tried a couple, and absolutely loved it!

I liked the mango cheesecake, and this chocolate cake that i had :)

Go try it out!

good deal
Submitted Wednesday, January 31, 2007 - 11:24pm [Dine in]

with this kind of cafe on main , you really can't expect much. With the mini meals + drink, the cheap deal will keep bringing back customers ! I guess it's a restaurant that's more suitable for chinese people because this is for sure not a dining place to have small talks with waiters/waitresses at. with this kind of price, hard to expect much. food's not bad though :)

Nice dineout place :)
Submitted Wednesday, January 31, 2007 - 10:56pm [Dine in]

Finally had my dineout dinner yesterday with my girlfriends. Although it took awhile to find parking, I guess it was worth the trouble! I already reserved a weekday at 8 but I guess since it's dineout period, a lot of people would be in yaletown ! The place was quieter than i thought it would be, and the overall setting was quite nice. The bread we were served with was really yummy too

I had the lobster bisque, which was pretty good :) but the albacore tuna my friend had was even better. The organic greens were pretty typical but not bad. But the albacore tuna also came with greens, so that's my reccomendation !

I had the Angus beef striploin. Since this place is known for the beef, the striploin was pretty good ! Although I asked for medium, it looked more like it was cooked medium well. I still liked it a lot. The salmon my friend had was alright, the taste was light but that's how she likes it!

I liked my cremebrulee a lot, but I was so full from the striploin I only finished 1/2 of it. My friend's cheesecake was nice too.

great dinner ! Pretty nice for a $35 dineout !
