What a difference a couple of years and a new chef make!

This place is SO much better than it used to be. They've updated the menu, got a lot of new staff, as well as great new chef/operator. If you've tried it before and didn't like it, give it another shot. It's much improved. (The ambiance was always nice and still is.)

Greasy food, utterly uncaring service
Submitted Friday, June 15, 2012 - 11:08am [Dine in]

We dealt with three staff people here last night (June 14, 2012) and they were all equally uninterested and uncaring. We had to ask repeatedly for water, then they only brought one glass to our table of three. They brought out a dish, put it on our table for a few minutes, then took it away because it was the "wrong one" (they didn't bother to ask if we had touched it yet, so luckily for the customers they brought it to instead, we hadn't.) The maki was ok, but the tempura was the soggiest and greasiest I've ever seen. We couldn't finish it even though we were all ravenous. The teriyaki chicken was fatty and the bean sprouts side dish, like the tempura, were drenched in oil. This was my second time eating here and I won't be back because they are consistently uninterested in their customers.

My favorite 'low end' sushi joint
Submitted Wednesday, November 10, 2010 - 4:25pm [Dine in]

We live on the North side of Burnaby but whenever we find ourselves in the Metrotown area, we rarely eat anywhere else. It's a tad grimy, but they are so tolerant of my messy toddler and clumsy 7 year old that I forgive them and we all love the food. The owner is gruff but actually quite charming when you get to know him. This is definitely a cut above the thousands of other similarly-priced Korean-masked-as-Japanese sushi places around Metro Vancouver.
