New management

Not just a sandwhich shop

I have been frequenting the sandwich tree for several years now as my office is just around the corner. Eric, the old owner, was a great guy but I would only ever order sandwiches from him because I found the Chinese food offerings a bit too greasy. He did make a mean sandwich though!

This year the place started out under new ownership and although they still make great sandwiches I find their Chinese food to be less greasy and more flavorful than before. Also, they used to have all the sandwich ingredients prepared ahead of time in tubs but now whenever I order a tuna salad sandwich they mix up the tuna salad right there in front of me. A nice touch as the ingredients aren't sitting out getting soggy.

The staff here are all great, the new manager is very cheerful and pleasant and I find the place a lot cleaner than before. Bottom line, this is still my favorite lunch spot and I will continue to recommend it to others.

My GF really wanted to come here and after reading some negative reviews online I tried to convince her otherwise. I have to say that I am glad I was unsuccessful!

I went on a Tuesday evening at 7, had a reservation which was kept and was promptly seated at a "bar" surrounding a large wrap around grill in the center of the room. We were brought tea immediately and the host came to explain the menu. We ordered the cheapest dinner for two and stuck with tea to drink. Shortly after being served a salad and miso soup our chef came out and greeted us carrying our first course.

Our meal consisted of scallops, shrimp, and fish fillet followed by what I believe to be beef strip loin steak. Then came a shaved beef roll up with green onions and garlic inside. Our final course was a choice of udon noodles or fried rice and a mixed veggie/cabbage stir fry. Then we had Icecream.

He was great, very pleasant and polite. at this point another group of 4 came and sat next to us and for the rest of the evening our chef alternated between cooking for us and the other group. This was great because we were entertained by seeing dishes other than what we ordered being cooked and it gave us time to eat at our leisure.

Our bill came to $85 including a 15% grat which I was happy to pay since I thought the service was top notch. Also, I assume the chefs get tipped out as well as the serving staff so the automatic grat makes sense. Even with the cheapest option, the main difference being no live seafood from their tanks, we still had enough food to walk out of there full.

I will come back, although a bit out of my price range to be a regular spot, this is a great place to come on special occasions or on a date night.
