Pita Express200 Burrard Street, #2, Vancouver
Soggy Pita.
Submitted Monday, August 10, 2009 - 2:23am [Dine in]

I had heard about Pita Express, I thought I would order my lunch for work. They're inside the food court, so ambiance isn't anything spectacular. In assembly line, the server choreograph the orders, and the preppers made the food, leading to the cash registered. The service was friendly and quick, and ordered the chicken pita wrap. It came with salad and was looking forward to eating it later on my lunch break.
The pita was soggy, the chicken was dry, and my pita bread started to fall apart. I wish I could have like it, including the salad, but it didn't taste that good.
My meal was around $8.00, I'm not sure if I'll try it again, I can find tastier Pita wraps in other locations.

Megabite Pizza898 Granville Street, Vancouver
Cheap Pizza
Submitted Sunday, August 2, 2009 - 2:39am [Dine in]

I was hungry after work, knew it would be awhile before I got home, due to the fireworks crowd. I decided to try Megabite Pizza, order 2 slices to for $3.99.
The service was quick, the pizza was hot, I prefered the ham & pineapple vs the meat pizza. The place isn't anything special, they do have some seats to eat, otherwise its mostly take out.
Its a spot to eat cheap pizza that did hit the spot. I can see myself going back.

Hugh chicken souvlaki
Submitted Thursday, July 30, 2009 - 7:37pm [Dine in]

I was starting to get hungry, wanting to be in air conditioning on this very hot day, and remembered the reviews. I didn't know what to expect, I order the 2 chicken souvlaki, came with 2 sides, homus & pita bread and Casaer Salad. I was amazed to see the size & amount of food I received, and was impressed with the freshness, taste and how good pita fresh was for a food court.
I tried to eat what I could, returning to P.F. as the staff had a worried look on their faces. I had to put my leftovers in a container and have enough for my work lunch.
If you're looking for restaurant quality, you'll find it here, in a food court on the lower level of sinclair building. Will be back.

Jugo Juice601 West Cordova, #40, Vancouver
Watermelon Wiggle on a very hot day.
Submitted Wednesday, July 29, 2009 - 7:43pm [Dine in]

I was wanting something cold to drink, after walking in the sun, to catch the seabus, back to the North Van.
I agree with Mr C. on the price, the service is friendly and worked quickly to keep up the orders.
I consider Jugo Juice a treat, due to the price, and today after walking in the heat, it was worth the price to get the energy.
I'm sure I'll be back, when I don't want to drink Ice Latte and want something on my way home.
I wish they weren't expensive, that's the only draw back.

Big City Cupcakes1015 Howe Street, Vancouver
Over abundance of frosting.
Submitted Sunday, July 26, 2009 - 1:47am [Dine in]

I was getting off the bus, my eyes open wide and thought I could try this. I decided to check it out, very clean, lots of variety to pick from and was told by my friendly server, all the cupcakes are made in their Burnaby location.
I decided on the triple chocolate cupcake, and what I notice was how much frosting they put on, without evenly putting it on top. As much as I love thick frosting, I actually like to have it less like a mountain, so I can enjoy my cupcake without having to tackle it.
Their cupcakes were okay, but they need to work on super hugh amounts of frosting.

Tim Hortons132 West Esplanade, North Vancouver
Poor service
Submitted Monday, July 20, 2009 - 7:12pm [Dine in]

I rarely visit Tim Horton's, been here twice with the same experience. I came in to order a turkey sandwich, muffin and Ice Vanilla latte.
If Tim's are opening new locations, pay & train their staff better, since each visit, they don't seem to get my order right.
If you say vanilla ice latte, why must I say French vanilla ice latte, and on both visit, they made hot vanilla latte.
I ate in the last visit, they needed to wipe down tables, sweep the floors and pay attention to the garbage. It wasn't busy, so why was the staff talking and not doing their jobs cleaning their tables?
When I got my beverage each time, and commented on the mistake, they insisted I asked for it, and the lady was annoyed that my request wasn't correct.
This location needs to work on the customer service, ordering skills and train their staff.

I doubt I will be back, not worth the hassle.

Submitted Monday, July 20, 2009 - 7:03pm [Dine in]

Delany's has the best coffee in the city, nice blend, that nice to drink at their location or at home. You can order baked goods, bagels, sandwiches to variety of beverages.

I often will come here or their Dundarave location, and if you order pound of their coffee, you can enjoy free coffee beverage.

Will be back again.

Filling Soft Chicken Taco
Submitted Monday, July 20, 2009 - 6:48pm [Dine in]

I was at Park Royal on the weekend, went to Taco Time many times before and ordered their Soft Chicken Taco combo with mexi fries and soft drink.
Although I found the price high, my meal was filling, had lots of flavour, and couldn't finish my taco, it was that good.
I find the staff friendly, food court ambiance and quick service. Will be back.

Good Value for my Pizza
Submitted Monday, July 20, 2009 - 6:39pm [Dine in]

I was wanting pizza and knew after reading chasiubow review, I couldn't go wrong, since we share similiar taste. I had decided to order their 2 slices of pizza with pop, and loved the chicken Pizza, so much, when I finish it, I went back for 2 more slices. The lady who served me, gave me discount for returning, and I lucked out, as the chicken pizza came right out of the oven.
I was amazed with the flavour, and if it wasn't for Mr C. review, I may have ignored this place, so I must try their other locations.

I think my total was around $7.00 including sprite and the service was friendly, the lady who served me gave me a deal, when she could have easily have charge me more.

Will be back.

George's Souvlaki123 Carrie Cates Court, #134, North Vancouver
Quality food and service
Submitted Friday, July 10, 2009 - 6:52pm [Dine in]

I've been eating at Georges inside the Lonsdale Quay for years. I get great service and I love their food, fresh, with quality ingredients with great taste. I have tried many of the dishes to Bbq Chicken platter, Lamb & Chicken Souvlaki Wrap, Homous & pita bread to their Lamb.
I usually order their Chicken Souvlaki wraps and tonight I ordered their Bbq chicken platter. They give you salad, chicken, potatoes & rice with Tzatziki, which is my favourite & made at their location. I often find I can't finish their meals, so I will have leftovers.
The ambience is typical food court, you can order to eat inside/outside the quay or take it home.

Love the food, service and will be back again, recommend when you're visiting the Lonsdale Quay.

Froyo Swirl820 Homer Street, Vancouver
Not very good.
Submitted Friday, July 10, 2009 - 6:20pm [Dine in]

I have seen Froyo and wanted to try it on a hot day. I was downtown, their location wasn't too busy and found they only have one flavour and you can add fruit, candy or sauces to your Yogurt. I thought lets be dangerous and order their large for $5.25 and add chocolate sauce. I took a bite and didn't like the taste of the frozen yogurt, it wasn't what I was expecting. The flavour tasted sour, and the chocolate didn't compliment my frozen yogurt, I left the store, trying to like it, but after a few bites, threw it out.

Can't recommend, way too many places to check out. I wish I kept on walking.

Symposio1564 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
Enjoyed my Lunch.
Submitted Friday, July 10, 2009 - 6:08pm [Dine in]

Symposio location used to be westcoast bagel and open the first of July. They have made this once bagel local, modern, spacious, and comfortable to place to enjoy lunch or dinner. I decided to check it out for Lunch and ordered Homous with Pita bread and Roast Lamb Kleftiko. The homous came out first, which was excellent with warm crisp pita bread. My roast lamb was tender, came with greek salad, potatoes with Tzatziki. My lamb fell off the bone, had a great taste and couldn't finish my plate, so I have leftovers for later.
I found out the owner, use to own Mythos on Lonsdale and Medina in West Van, and the construction changes was a done very well. As for the service, I found the two waitress were friendly enough, but one lady ignored tables around her, not paying attention to people wanting to ask questions. I like to think it will improve in the coming weeks. The owner did walk around, served tables, asked how my meal was and made the suggestion for the lamb.

I liked what I ordered, saw a variety of dishes pass me, and many people were raving about their meals. I will be back to check it out again.

Go Early for Dim Sum
Submitted Sunday, June 21, 2009 - 10:16pm [Dine in]

I made reservations at 10am Sunday, with my friend, and notice after we have been seated, their was a long line up by 10.30am. Very popular & busy location and being fathers day, was alot of families starting their morning at this location.

I found the service to be quick, friendly and helpful, when anything needed to be explained. We ordered many dishes, from Steamed Prawns, bbq pork buns, warm mini custard tarts to sticky rice. Our dishes arrived within a few minutes and kept coming, and everything was good. I couldn't remember the name that had peanuts, it was excellent tasting and would order it again.

The price came to $43.00 for 8 dishes, the price is high for Dim Sum, and if I was celebrating something special, I would come back to enjoy the food.

Okay Sandwich
Submitted Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - 7:36pm [Dine in]

I was walking along Dundarave, over the weekend, seen the Bakehouse many times with lots of people, and decided to order sandwich. I tried a multigrain turkey sandwich, and for $7.50, It was okay.

The place wasn't too busy, the service was friendly, the bake all their breads and decided to order it. The turkey had flavour, but I found the bread to be dry side.

Glad I tried it, with so many other places to explore, I try something else another time I'm back in the area.

Where's the Beef?
Submitted Tuesday, June 16, 2009 - 7:28pm [Dine in]

I miss Vera burger shack, repeat again somewhere in this statement. I decided I would give this reasonably new joint a try, craving a burger, having memories of pass burgers. Did I say, I miss Vera's Burgers?
The cost of my Organic Cheese burger was $7.50, and if having a small organic beef pattie is any indication of my sudden disappointment and cost of tiny, weenie, lack luster, burger.
Where's the beef, it was so thin, you couldn't call it a burger, and the bun looked like someone drove over it with a steam roller. Did I say I missed Vera Burger? The cost of burger was expensive, for what I didn't get, and could have gotten a better deal at Wendy's, Vera, Fatburger or even White spot. This didn't include fries, drink, only my organic burger.
Don't expect much from service, high school students were working the counter, and ambience is concession stand terrace.
Did I mention I wish Vera could have stayed, but its replacement is far from a good burger.
I doubt I will be back to try it anytime soon.

Burgoo3 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
I can take it or leave it.
Submitted Saturday, June 13, 2009 - 2:09am [Dine in]

I don't get why so many people are hyped over Burgoo, and been to this location a couple of times. Each time I go, I'm hoping my experience will change, but this is one spot, I can take it or more like leave it.
I find the services borders on ignoring on the customers, from when you walk in to eating your meal. This wasn't a busy day and I don't know how they can chat with the chef, stand in a corner and chat with one another, when customers may need something.
I ordered the Guiness Lamb stew, It was filling, even had leftovers. The taste of the lamb, mashed potatoes was nice tasting with lots of flavour. I found the vegetables to be mushy and the mini dumplings, didn't taste very good, expected more flavour and didn't compliment the meal. I felt the price $16.00 was steep, for a meal that didn't wow me.
I wish I could like it, this is a place that's not for me.
I doubt I will return for another try.

Milwaukee Market Creamery1330 Hornby St., Vancouver
Amazing and I want to go back very soon.
Submitted Tuesday, June 2, 2009 - 1:58am [Dine in]

I had been hearing about Milwaukee market & decided to check it out. I was greeted by a friendly server, who informed me that all the ice cream is a custard, that's made daily on the premise. This place has been open less than a month, is very clean, nicely decorated and offers free internet.
They had coconut, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate raspberry and few other choices that change daily. Their location has fresh coffee, baked items, meals and other items on the menu.
I decided on my servers suggestion, and letting me sample the coconut with the vanilla custard, and I was hooked. There's only one other location that I like coconut, and this place has match it. I loved the texture, the taste, with lots of flavour and I ordered 2 scoops or large in a cup for under $5.00. They gave it to me, served with this great cookie and I was lost for words in how good their product was on a warm day. As word get's out about Milwaukee, this spot will be a hugh hit year round, catering to business, residents and tourist that will walk along Hornby st.
Love it, will be back again, highly recommend it.

Quick lunch
Submitted Monday, May 18, 2009 - 7:44pm [Dine in]

I was at Granville Island with a friend, decided to get lunch & thought we would try this place.
We both had Chicken Pita, service was quick, the food was fresh, and within a few minutes, we were eating our meal.
The chicken pita had a nice taste, the pita was fresh & warm and was good to the end. My friend agree'd and we both thought it was quick in service.
Don't expect much for kiosk, inside the market, we ate our pita outside to enjoy the music.

Worth checking out.

Great Gelato, tacky plastic chairs.
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 2:35am [Dine in]

The one thing I've noticed about Mondo's, is the cheap, tacky, plastic chairs they seem to have in their stores. Do they not know how to buy decent chairs that aren't from the plastic world?

I ordered Banana Strawberry with White Chocolate, and wow did it taste awesome. I got to try a sample, and with that choice, gobble up my gelato. This location wasn't busy, not sure if people left town for the long weekend, or they open at later time, the server & her boss, where not friendly or talkative.

Good location and I can see this spot being busy on a hot day. Gelato is good, must pay cash, with 2 or 4 scoops for your choice of Gelato.

Will be back at either location for take out, until they buy new chairs.

Expensive Baquette.
Submitted Saturday, May 16, 2009 - 2:24am [Dine in]

I heard alot about this place, and ordered a turkey baquette for my dinner tonight. I found the owner was friendly, and discovered their sister store, was La Galleria in North Van.

The one thing I notice was variety of choices, larger space, friendlier service, but the cost was the same. My turkey would have been $7.00, but I asked for cheese for extra $2.00, so be prepared to have full wallet.
Praying that their baquette will be improvement from their North Van, and when I had it, loved it.

I got lots of turkey, enough mustard with toppings, which blended really well together. I definately like the baquette, had a nice texture and wasn't dry, so added points for this spot.

I like my baquette, but with the prices, It will be awhile to try them again. Can we say Ouch.
