Amazing Food
Submitted Monday, October 26, 2009 - 1:56am [Dine in]

I was walking along Granville st, wanted sushi and thought I would try this place again. As I walked in, I noticed changes they change their interior from a couple of years and service was friendly & attentive.

I decided to sit at the sushi bar, it wasn't too busy for the weekend and my food arrived, displayed neatly & too perfection. I ordered 2 Salmon, 2 ebi and 2 red tuna nigiri and chicken teriyaki with rice. My sushi was absolutely perfect, amazing in taste & super fresh. I loved their salmon nigiri so much, it melted in my mouth, amazing flavour and I asked for two more salmon. My chicken teriyaki came out in this long dish, served with spinach, several pieces of chicken with crunchy topping. I was blown away with the taste, this was done to perfection, and loved the flavour.
I found the service was attentive, the seating was space nicely, clean & not loud music to get lost in this wonderful eating experience.
When my bill arrived was $35.00 and although the food was fabulous, this isn't the cheapest place on the block, but a foodie experience.

The only draw back to this experience, I did asked when walking in, if they had debit, which they did. When it came time to pay with my debit card, their machine didn't work, and I had to go to the bank to retrieve cash. This is where they lost points on service, but I will make sure I bring cash in next time, to avoid any hassles.

Recommend and plan to go back again. Outstanding food.

Mills Mediterranean Grill105 East 12th Street, North Vancouver
Tasty Lunch.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 4:24pm [Dine in]

Mills Mediterranean used to be the former Bagel shop and next to Colesseum. I decided to try this family run business and found my server friendly & Helpful. I did see a few tables, but I decided upon take out and order the Chicken platter with rice, homous, pita and salad. My server asked me if I wanted Taziki before packing my lunch. I paid $ 7.50, took my meal and thought it okay.
I really like their homous, lots of flavour & very tasty. The chicken was on the dry side, taziki helped in the taste. I did find the rice too dry, but the overall meal did fill me up.
I will go back to try it again, to try their beef donairs and have their homous again.

Friendly service, will try it again.

IHOP - International House of Pancakes4567 Lougheed Highway, #56, Burnaby
Disappointing.
Submitted Tuesday, October 20, 2009 - 4:06pm [Dine in]

I was wanting Pancakes and decided to go to IHOP at Brentwood Mall. Its been a couple of years that I was here, and I remembered why, I don't frequent this location.

The service was slow, unfriendly and if you saw a server walking pass, and asked for water, the reply "wasn't our station"? I was in between the breakfast & lunch crowd, the place wasn't busy and service was slow.

When I did get my coffee, it tasted good & had coffee thermos placed at my table. My pancakes were light & fluffy, but not too filling. They could have cleaned the syrup tray on the side of the table, to make it less sticky or give you fresh syrup, when your meal arrives. I feel this place needs to replace the carpets & booths, its becoming outdated and maybe that's why the servers don't care about how good their service is towards the customer.

I wish I can like this location, but I doubt I will return.

Unfriendly cheap service.
Submitted Wednesday, October 14, 2009 - 6:25pm [Dine in]

I decided to check this location, it was nothing similiar to my Park Royal experience. I found my service unfriendly, when asked what type of Pizza, she mumbled and looked as she would rather be somewhere else than inside here.

The Pizza I tried was 1 beef & 1 chicken onion pizza slices, the gloomy server, put both of my pizza in paper plate and from the first bite, the taste didn't even come close to my Park Royal experience. The pizza was soggy, limp, lack flavour and salty. I didn't even like the pizza crust, rather bland and hardly any flavour, what a disappointment. I expected too much, will not return to this location, and got what I paid for, Cheap deal with lackluster pizza.

Can't recommend. Park Royal is way better.

Out to lunch waitress.
Submitted Tuesday, October 13, 2009 - 4:37pm [Dine in]

I decided to check this place out, it wasn't too busy when I decided to have my lunch.

The waitress wasn't very good, not very friendly or informative on the menu. I ordered the tuna nigiri, prawn ebi and dynamite roll with a coca cola. I didn't like the taste of my tuna or prawn, and very small pieces. The dynamite roll tasted salty, and gave up trying to eat it. My meal for the sushi came to $15.00, and thought it was expensive, compared to other sushi locations.

I doubt I will return.

Submitted Saturday, October 3, 2009 - 2:29am [Dine in]

I wish I had read the reviews, before walking in, I would have gone to another place that could serve decent sushi.

I found the servers were attentive, they took my order quickly, my food arrived and came around to fill my tea frequently.

As for the sushi, the cucumber roll was tasty, but fell apart easily and talk about tiny pieces. The salmon & tuna nigiri had a dry taste, along with being smaller than usual sushi places. I didn't like the futomaki, skimp ingredients, thin slices and didn't taste that great. The dynamite roll was tasty, but tiny pieces and found the chicken wings on the dry side.

I found it wasn't that busy for a Friday around 1pm, for their lunch special $9.99 plus the cost of my cocoa cola, my bill came to $12.00.

I didn't like the skimpy, tiny sushi, and with so many other places to eat, as Tanpopo on Denman and I love Sushi in North Van, I doubt I will return for another visit.

Everyone reviews on here is right...I hope my next spot, I will read the reviews.

Sushi Town1227 Marine Drive, North Vancouver
New place to eat
Submitted Tuesday, September 29, 2009 - 8:41pm [Dine in]

Sushi Town is beside Mcdonald's and the former location of East. Sushi town interior is dark brown, in this location it doesn't work, and didn't like their choice of music, hip hop and rap. The service was quick & friendly, wasn't busy for 1pm lunch and my food arrived within a few minutes.
I ordered their assorted sushi, tuna & salmon rolls which was delicious. Tuna, salmon, prawn nigiri had alot of flavour. The rest of my dish, I tried, didn't like it, tasted salty & doubt I will try the platter again.
The assorted sushi came to with my coca cola around $12.00.

I hope they work on their poor choice of music and being dark inside, didn't make me want to stay longer to try other sushi.

I will try take out next time.

Good.
Submitted Monday, September 28, 2009 - 7:37pm [Dine in]

I've seen Thai Express in the food court, and decided to try it. I saw what another customer had ordered, and her soup was large with lots of veggies. I ordered the chicken peanut stir fry with rice, and waited for about 5 minutes to have them prepare my dish. I had alot of veggies, the chicken had a nice flavour and the rice complimented my meal.
I was quite surprised how good this place was, and only wish I tried it sooner.

Will be back

Submitted Monday, September 14, 2009 - 9:32pm [Dine in]

I have walked pass this place quiet a few times, and notice its usually busy during the week. On Sunday I walked into a very quiet spot, with two other people at another table. The server was either new or in the wrong job and gave horrendous service all throughout my meal. When I sat down, the server wanted to know I needed another menu, and when she took my order for the lunch special, she seemed shocked I wasn't ordering another dish. I decided to order Beef stirfry with oyster sauce that came with rice and coca cola, and asked if I wanted ice in my glass with annoyed and confused look in her face. At this point, her indifference to me was starting to be rude, yet the other table she smiled, talked with them and icy towards me. Must have been warmer on that side of the room, since i asked for Ice for my beverage.
My dish arrived, tasted okay, had chunks of beef and noticed after my meal, felt I must have ate msg, since I felt blotted when I left.
The other table got their bill, got the attention, but when I wanted to pay my bill, the confused waitress got a dazed look. The amount came to over 9.00 and only gave $1.00 tip, wish I didn't, since she very rude & bad service.
I should have gone to a place I like, Hons on Robson, Topo on Homer and Kathy Kitchen in North Van, which I returned many times.
I doubt I will return, and the service was way too bad to give it another try.

Workout and Coffee
Submitted Thursday, September 10, 2009 - 2:46pm [Dine in]

Located inside the west van aquatic center, you can enjoy coffee inside or outdoors. Spacious, bright, relaxing and when you're finished with your swimming, workout, skating to physio or massage therapy, this is the spot to enjoy a coffee.

The service is friendly and when I left my physio appt, I stopped in for a latte. I had a beautiful weather outside, enjoy the new water sculpture and drank my vanilla latte.

If in the area or planning a swim, beans around the world has a great location to enjoy any type of beverage.

Will be back.

Not my type.
Submitted Wednesday, August 26, 2009 - 4:44pm [Dine in]

I was in Lynn Valley with friends, when we decided to try it. Rocky Mtn has been open for a couple of months, and we met our server who was friendly & helpful. This place has alot of windows, and is bright & airy, especially if you're looking to enjoy a lunch meal.
As for the restaurant, its not my type of place, I would return to, due to it catering to young families. In one corner, they have a play area for young kids and if I had kids, this might be a place to suit my needs. I also wasn't impressed seeing someone walk in with a small dog, to use the washroom and this dog wasn't certified guide or assistant dog, so they lost points with me on this.
The menu is eclectic, it didn't appeal to me, and we couldn't find anywhere on the menu, that if you want parmasean cheese or chili peppers, there would be added cost of 50 cents each..talk about price inflation, and lost points on this too.
We both ordered pizza's, mine came to $13.00 and my friends $11.00, since we created our own. I liked my friends more, which was vegetarian and mine had ground beef, mushroom, onions, and tasted flat.
Our server was great and helpful, but since it caters to families, and many might want to have adult environment. We both felt it was loud and I doubt I will return.

Submitted Tuesday, August 25, 2009 - 3:17pm [Dine in]

I was in the area, read the reviews and decided to check it out. The first thing I notice, was the chocolate aroma that filled the store, and how the store front was designed. This is a boutique, only a couple of tables to choose from, and have designer boxes for your cake. The service was friendly, helpful and I decided to pick the Chocolat Velouté, to take home with me.
I got this pretty box, went home and had it for dessert. This is where this particular dessert, didn't "wow me, omg, I must have another one soon." The flavour was somewhat bland, the taste was moist but I've reviewed other locations, that were better bakeries, as for example, Sweet Art, in North Vancouver. The prices are steep, but they must be paying high rent, and its all about the ambiance, this particular location has it.
Will I be back to try it again, I don't have plans to hurry back anytime soon.

Padre Taco is located near the enterance of the skytrain, inside Bentall three center mall. There's not much for food court ambiance, but service is allways friendly and kind towards their customers. I love their breakfast burritto, with egg & cheese and for $3.25, you have your breakfast ready to go. If you like salsa, they'll add it, along with other items for morning burritto.
Breakfast or lunch, the food is good, fresh and the service is quick.

I was at the airport, checking out the Canada Line. I was still hungry, when my first choice food didn't taste very good, and I accidently stumble across Harvey's. I found it, jumping for joy, and knew I was going to eat a great burger and it was yummy.

The friendly server took my order for a cheese burger and Coca Cola and waited for a few minutes. When I sat down, from the first to the last bite, my burger was delicious, fresh and tasted great. It filled me up and the next time I go to the airport, I will aim for Harvey's.

Will be back.

Waste of money.
Submitted Wednesday, August 19, 2009 - 8:11pm [Dine in]

I was at the airport, after I tried out the Canada Line, and was starting to get hungry.
I decided to get their Chicken Teriyaki Bento Box, it had Goyza, Noodles, salad and Chicken Teriyaki with rice.
The only thing I like was the Chicken Teriyaki, it was good and liked the flavour. The rest of the bento box, didn't taste very good from Goyzo with a vinegar taste, the noodles were spongy and had a funny taste and gave up after my first bite.
Eating here was a waste of my time, money and the food just didn't taste very good.

Submitted Tuesday, August 18, 2009 - 5:32pm [Dine in]

I love to stop inside Pastemeli when I'm in the area, the food is constantly good & very fresh.
I've tried their pasta, pizza, salads and sandwiches over the years and today I bought their Turkey Sandwich. I bought my coke and at last minute bought their mini french baquettes for future lunches, and my lunch was tasty. When I got home, I toasted one of the french baquettes, amazing and loved each bite.
If you're up in the area of Caulifield and want to eat in or take out, the food is good, service is friendly and helpful.

Too greasy & Salty.
Submitted Thursday, August 13, 2009 - 9:52pm [Dine in]

I've been to this location twice, and I cannot for the life of me, understand why people like their food. I first tried them, when they opened a couple of years ago, didn't like it, but wanted to give them another chance.
I ordered the half slab of ribs, came with coleslaw, fries, cornbread and sauce for my ribs.
The fries were beyond salty and couldn't even begin to describe the taste. I tried the coleslaw, it tasted vinegery, funny purplish colour and didn't like it. I'm at the point worried that the ribs maybe as greasy, as the fries, but lacked flavour & hardly no taste. I didn't like the sauce for the ribs and left after I tried to eat the ribs, but too greasy for me.
I don't think this place is for me, many people like it, but Its all about the hype. As for the price $18.00 with coca cola and its too expensive to go back again.

I was in chinatown, spotted this bakery and decided to check it out. I bought custard tarts, creamed pineapple bun and bbq bun for under $5.00. This location isn't very big, limited in space and previous reviewer commented, their seating in the food court mall. The service is friendly, and answered my questions, and its a good deal with all the choices.

Expensive Dim Sum
Submitted Tuesday, August 11, 2009 - 5:24pm [Dine in]

I have heard about Floata for a few years, its large and Dim Sum is expensive. I found the service to be poor, almost ignored, and to get them to come to my table, was hard to get their attention. I would have understood if it was busy, but at 1pm, there must have been 15 tables in use. I ordered the usual, steamed prawns, pork, deep fried vegetarian roll, spareribs and sticky rice. I thought the food was okay, nothing spectacular and none of the dishes had incredible flavour. I rather felt it was bland, and for the price, this place is all about the hype. My meal came to $24.60, approx $4.50 per dish and I when I left, I thought EXPENSIVE.
I doubt I will return, too many place to try and until the service can match the price, they need to work on their friendliness & customer service.

I decided to order breakfast, scramble eggs, toast and bacon with coffee and within a few mintues my food arrrived. I like their coffee, nice blend and my breakfast was good. I liked their multigrain toast and for under $7.00, it hit the spot.
I do like the brightness of the place, big windows, but they needed to clear the tables off.
The service was friendly & helpful and plan to be back to explore the items on the menu.
