Latte's & Ice cream are all great.
Submitted Saturday, April 19, 2008 - 4:17pm [Dine in]

This place is another spot I like to treat myself for a latte or Ice cream. When I want to indulge in great tasting Vanilla Latte, I will have it there to wake up my taste bud's and start my day. I enjoy sitting having a latte, people watching, reading newspaper to a soccer game that might be playing. Its a popular spot year round.

They make a variety of ice cream from Reeses Peanut butter cup, oreo, caramel to strawberry to name a few flavours. They will let you try a sample, so you won't pick the wrong type of ice cream. In the summer time, people flock here to eat their ice cream, and you won't be disappointed.

The cost of ice cream to latte's are on the high side, that's why this place is a treat. My vanilla latte was over $4.00, ice cream with two scoops $5.00 & up and if I want it to go, they don't have containers in one large size for $9.00 or $10.00. As for the service, what do you expect when you hire students for a low wage, you have to expect it, and it can run smoothly or be slow. The Coffee & Ice cream is constantly good, and if you're looking for a treat along Lonsdale, this popular spot is well known to people who live around here.

Enjoy your ice cream, coffee, latte, or snack, you won't be disappointed.

Wonderful dinner & chocolate buffet
Submitted Friday, April 18, 2008 - 11:20pm [Dine in]

I went to Sutton place hotel for dinner with friends, and all of us enjoyed our meals, no complaints. I love their 10 oz steak, cooked perfectly, with a variety of vegetables. The service was wonderful, not rushed, relaxed and our server was knowledgeable & friendly. My friends meals where great, fish n chips, grilled lamb chops to quesadera, all were done perfectly.

I think I died and went to heaven when I saw the Chocolate buffet, no calories there..lol They make a wonderful chocolate mousse, chocolate trifle and fruit with a chocolate fountain, the strawberry tasted the best. I never did try the crepes, but my friends did like it, and you can have a variety of sauces on top. Delicious, sinful and a nice way to end any meal or deal. If you love chocolate, this is the place on Thurs, Fri and Saturday and I suggest having a meal to get the full indulgence of chocolate.

Professional, friendly, service that is relax style of serving, never feeling rushed at anytime. This is a place to dine with friends and enjoy a great meal.

Fatburger serving Ricky's Famous Breakfast1995 Lonsdale Ave, North Vancouver
Breakfast are good.
Submitted Friday, April 18, 2008 - 12:59pm [Dine in]

I've been here a few times, and when they first opened, I found the first couple of visit bumpy. I have read the reviews, and do agree with the service not being super friendly. They get my order right, food is hot but once you got your coffee, they can ignore or forget to ask if you would like a refill.

I haven't eaten their burgers, only been their for breakfast, and so far the food has been good.

I do like their scramble eggs, hash brown, mulitigrain toast, its been a good meal. I even like their pancakes and will ask to get no whip cream or fruit on it, and I find their pancakes fill me up. Coffee is good, I only wish they would come around more to fill up your cup.

Siegel's Bagels1689 Johnston St, Vancouver
Great Bagels
Submitted Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 10:01pm [Dine in]

I love this location inside Granville Island Market. They have a variety of bagels to pick from, and if you arrive early, I would recommend their Blueberry Bagels. I love their pastries, if I could know their names, but they're in a crust with cinnamon & raisons, peach and chocolate, great to eat in the morning with a coffee or chai tea.
I find the service can be slow at times, having a patience is a must, but I do overlook it, when they have great tasting bagels.

Granville Island Tea Company1689 Johnson St, Public Market, 117, Vancouver
Best Chai tea in the city.
Submitted Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 9:52pm [Dine in]

I was introduced to this tiny spot over a year ago, and been back many times. I was never big on Chai Tea, due to popular retailers not properly preparing this tasty drink the right way. Off I went to Granville Island, to check out this spot, never knowing at the time, that Chai Tea was something you could truly enjoy.

The staff is very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly when its come to their tea's. I only drink Chai Tea at this location, they know how to prepare it, and I order it on the sweet side, not spicy. When you had Chai Tea done the right way, steeped with flavours and with each taste, its inviting.

If you never had Chai Tea before or had it from the competitors that do it instantly, head to this spot and let your taste buds decide.

I love this place, I could live here and glad this is place is another favourite treat to enjoy. Until next time, I look forward to my chai tea.

Keg Steakhouse & Bar, The1499 Anderson St., Vancouver
Off night for the kitchen, great server
Submitted Wednesday, April 16, 2008 - 9:37pm [Dine in]

I have a friend that raves about how good the food is at the Keg on Granville Island. I've heard how fantastic the steak & prime roast beef, and wish I was with her on those nights.
I give 10 thumbs up to the waiter, who never gave up asking me how my Prime Rib meat turned out, and would return with it cooked more each time. I was impressed that he didn't try to avoid me, and offered other dishes to this meal that wasn't cooked very well. I started losing my appetite by the 3rd try, trying to get my beef to medium, and both my server & manager tried to make sure if they could do anything better. Thumbs up with customer service.

The Prime rib was disasterous from the get go, undercooked, almost raw It could crawl off my plate, and very fatty. When I asked my server if I could get it more cooked, it was no problem. Each time, my prime rib would come back a little more cooked, still very red inside, and didn't taste as it was cooked very well. When it came back again by the third try, I had lost my appetite, and chalked it up to off night for the kitchen staff. I've never been big on The Keg, other than West Van Location, but each time I eat Steak or red meat, I keep having the meat not cooked right. Tonight was one of those Keg experience with red meat not cooked properly.

I will have to try this location at another time, if anything, the staff is friendly towards customers and this particular server really cared how my meal turned out. Positive experience with the staff I will remember, not the food.

Solid service & food.

I love this particular Bread Garden, since this location has a grill and your orders can have a variety. They once took off the menu my herb chicken, but due to popular demand, returned this great dish, its simply a great meal. I thought their steak was good, not pricey and was filling. If you want to have breakfast, they have a variety to pick from. I love their Oatmeal blueberry muffins, melts in your mouth and all Bread Gardens have it.

If you're visiting Park Royal North, near the London Drugs, try this Bread Garden, its different than all the rest and the food is constantly great.

Delany's Coffee House1277 Lynn Valley Rd, #169, North Vancouver
My favourite coffee house
Submitted Tuesday, April 1, 2008 - 2:32pm [Dine in]

I was in Lynn Valley when I noticed a brand new Delany's, behind the Library. I'm a regular to all their coffee locations, that first started on Denman Street, and have watch them grow over the years. I hope one day they will open another location on lower Lonsdale & Deep Cove, hint, hint, nudge, nudge, for their loyal coffee fans.

This location is spacious, bright, with lots of fresh baked goods, and find their staff friendly. If you're looking for a smooth coffee, their own Delany blend is my personal favourite & I often take home their coffee to start my day.

I will be back again.

Tommy's1308 Ross Road, North Vancouver
Squished in the corner.
Submitted Tuesday, April 1, 2008 - 1:46pm [Dine in]

If you're planning to go Tommy's, be prepared this place isn't that big and you sit close together. I wasn't impressed that I was put in the far corner next to the bathroom, which was the main reason I lost my hunger.

I didn't have alot to choose from the self serve coffee selection, coffee was luke warm. When I asked if they had a microwave to make the coffee hotter, the look I got was frosty.
The plus side, my breakfast order did come fast, and thought my eggs, toast and potatoes was quite tasty. I only wish I wasn't next to the bathroom door. What I couldn't get past was this luke warm coffee that was bland. That's when I decided when I would leave, I would go the new delany's across the street to get my favourite coffee.

Sorry can't recommend.

I decided to try this place for breakfast and thought the food was good. Casual place as you walk to the counter to order and once you paid, the food is brought to you. I think with the casual approach, semi friendly staff, caters more to the the tourist staying at the hotel near them.
With so many places to eat, It will be awhile before I try it again.

Hon's Wun Tun House1339 Robson Street, Vancouver
Quick & reliable food
Submitted Sunday, March 30, 2008 - 2:14am [Dine in]

I've been going to Hons for a number of years, and most people will tell you, they're fast, reliable and cheap to eat. If you want a fancy, elegant, location, real dishes, and glasses, then Hon's won't be for you.

The menu covers everything for meat eaters to vegetarians, some dishes I've tried, I didn't care for, but that's how you learn. I really love their dim sum, especially the steamed prawns, vegetarian steam rolls and steamed pork buns. I find all dishes really fresh, flavourful, and fills me up. I have enjoyed over the years, their Guylan with garlic, steamed chicken or bbq, shredded chicken with lettuce and chicken in oyster sauce with crunchy noodles. Whatever you decide to eat, or ask for request, Hons will make it. This is a cheap place to eat and fun to people watch.

Cactus Club Cafe1136 Robson Street, Vancouver
My server was awesome.
Submitted Thursday, March 20, 2008 - 8:14pm [Dine in]

I went with my friend to share a late lunch after our work & decided on the Cactus Club.
I give 10 stars to my server, she was awesome, attentive, friendly and was a natural for doing this job. My friend and I was impressed how she would check on us, make suggestion, knew the menu and when it came to our bill, even split the bill for my friend & I, without us asking.
The food was good, I like my chicken wings, messy but good, and got lots of napkins. My friend meal was good, she didn't like the yam fries, and that was the only complaint in her meal. I thought the Spinach & Crab was on the cheesy side, but filled the gap in between our meals. We decided on the trio dessert, mini apple pie, mini cheesecake and mini lava cake and it was just enough for the both us to be satisfied.
Our visit was over hour & half, picked a good time, not too busy or loud and the food hit the spot.
I wish I got the name of our server, I would promote her to executive position in Customer relations...I wish all place could have all servers like this lady at the cactus club...Thank you!!

I would recommend to eat there after 3pm, before it gets busy and line up begin to start.

overpriced, boring & little service.
Submitted Tuesday, March 18, 2008 - 5:59pm [Dine in]

I walked in after my workout for a late lunch, and I'm not sure if it was how I looked or disturbing their staff lunch.

Service was non existant, slow, didn't inquire at anytime, how I like my food and was very overpriced for dim sum. The food had little taste, wasn't the best quality and I found Steamed pork buns and Prawn dumplings very dry. I thought the prices where high for dim sum, and due to lack of interest by the staff, I don't believe I will be returning anytime soon.

Let your senses be indulged.
Submitted Sunday, March 16, 2008 - 1:45am [Dine in]

I had heard about this place and had to try it, after hearing about the experience.
When you open the doors to Koko, you are teased with the fresh aroma of chocolate. As I started to drool my way to counter, and met the very friendly staff who definitely greeted me warmly. I was in heaven and think I forgot my name at this point, and decided to order the Vanilla hot chocolate in milk chocolate. I was in a trance as I handed over the money, and didn't have to wait to long to indulge my taste buds. My Hot chocolate came in this large mug, with my first taste the chocolate was incredible, got better with each sip, making my taste buds dance. I wanted to lick the cup, but that would be rude, or maybe not..grin!!
I love Koko, I found my new home, its a great place to indulge your taste buds.
As reality did come back to me, the prices are moderately high for your hot chocolate or dessert. I paid $4.50 and dessert & chocolates are priced according to what you like to enjoy. If you want to indulge, this is the place, thank god, they're nowhere near me or I would be here way too much.
Enjoy it everyone. Its a culinary experience.

Dry cupcakes, with hidden surprise, ugh!!
Submitted Saturday, March 8, 2008 - 6:15pm [Dine in]

I totally agree what chasiubow mentioned below about the service and very dry cupcakes. I've been to the Edgemont Location a couple of times, and was impressed, when they first opened, until yesterday.
What happened to the moist, melt in your mouth freshness with your cupcakes? Are the wages that low, your bakers can't be bothered to care what they're putting into the ingredients? I only ate 1 chocolate cupcake, it tasted old & dry. My 2nd cupcake, I was upset to find blond hair strand on the 2nd cupcake, it made me wonder what I ate in my first cupcake.
Not impressed, won't be back.

Outstanding Food.
Submitted Saturday, March 8, 2008 - 5:56pm [Dine in]

I tried this quaint restaurant for lunch and was impressed with my meal & service. It wasn't too busy for late lunch and I had the Spaghetti Bolognese with mozzarella cheese that the chef baked. The portion was perfect, the meat sauce didn't have overwhelming taste of too much tomatoe paste or sauce.
I did have dessert, which was unbelievable, light and got better with each bite, the tiramisu, was a great ending to my lunch.
I thought the size of the place was charming, open, friendly and I would come back to try something else.

Consistently good food & service
Submitted Sunday, March 2, 2008 - 1:43am [Dine in]

I've been to relish many times, and have two favourites that I will order. If you need to take the edge off, The Seafood Wonton Stack, is a great start or light meal. I love this dish soooo much, I'm often asked if I plan to order my regular request.

I like the roast chicken with veggies, done beautifully, moist & tender, its never been a disappointing meal. Depending on the season, they'll put fresh fruit, blueberries or pineapple for added touch.

Relish on the weekend has a great brunch, the food & service is great and popular on the weekend. If you want to try this spot, its never been disappointing & its a spot you will keep returning. I can't wait for my next Seafood Wonton stack, can we say yummm!!

Glad I tried it.
Submitted Monday, February 25, 2008 - 7:25pm [Dine in]

I was looking for a place to eat, read the reviews that were all positive, and had to explore this sushi place.

Bright, attentive, not too busy place and enjoyed the variety I had ordered. The ordering is similiar to Dim Sun, with pencil and slip of paper of the amount & type of sushi you wish to eat. If ordering the chicken teriyaki, I had order 1, which should have been 2 when filling out, and found the portion size small. I loved the california, avacado, salmon rolls, that we're wonderful to eat.

I ordered A for $6.99 and ordered coca cola, with my total under $9.00, and I was stuffed. Great deal for your money, I will be buck, and I hope the quality continues, and will have to try their take out for 25% off...

Thanks for the great reviews everyone, I wouldn't have tried it and may ignored a great sushi spot.

What happen to my server?
Submitted Sunday, February 24, 2008 - 1:34am [Dine in]

When I arrive, my server was prompt & friendly. I got my order & the food arrive fairly quick. When I eat there, I have enjoyed all my meals, and I've tried a variety over the years. When I finished eating, I waited, & waited, even tried to get the attention of another server, but no luck. It took me getting up from my table, to walk to bar to get my bill, & even was ignored for another few more minutes. I asked I wanted to pay my bill, heard some grumbling and didn't even see my server in this time, maybe she was on a break, who knows.
I paid my bill, left no tip, since it became non existant, and not sure how soon or if I will return, until I read improved service. It's too bad, I was going to give my server a good tip, for her fast work in the beginning, and than she vanished...

I've never had a disappointing meal at either location, and prefer West Van. I found the service was perfect, my server was friendly and personable and the food was great.

I ordered the Won Ton soup with prawns and salad on the side. I love the soup, filled with vegetables, lots of prawns, won tons & broth was delicious. I was full with my meal, the salad was a great compliment to my meal and hit the spot.

I like how bright, airy their location was, and everyone seemed to be enjoying their meals.
