I like this spot
Submitted Monday, June 9, 2008 - 8:55pm [Dine in]

I like Azia for eating in or take out, I find the service is friendly, polite and fast each time I order. I have grazed around the menu and there sushi bar hits the spot each time.
Azia is higher in price for their sushi, and will treat myself to this place when I want to enjoy a quality meal & service.
I ordered their Sashimi, Tuna & Salmon Nigiri, Prawn Ebi, and steamed shrimp & pork. I combined a variety of dishes together, all was fresh, and walked away full, with leftovers to eat later.
The decor is nice, stylish, can be busy on the weekends, and usually take advantage of their lunch during the weekdays. I like this spot, don't have any complaint on service or the food.

Will recommend & I'll be back again.

Kadoya Japanese1063 Davie Street, Vancouver
When was the last time they mop the floor?
Submitted Sunday, June 8, 2008 - 2:00am [Dine in]

I was looking for sushi, saw Kadoya and thought small, not too busy and cheap.

I sat down in the corner by the window, ordered and my food came fairly quickly. I love the chicken teriyaki, the Tuna, salmon nigri & prawn ebi where fresh, delicious and large in size. I was full from my meal, couldn't finish my chicken teriyaki and pack it for work.

It wasn't until I was leaving, thank god, I look down on the floor where I was sitting, and saw filthy, dirty floor. I looked around the place and could see they haven't cleaned very well, which made me wonder how clean they keep this place.

Sushi is great, the clutter on the walls, its small place & dirty floors, makes me question if I will return.

I will remember to order take out.
Submitted Monday, June 2, 2008 - 8:59pm [Dine in]

I have tried this place once for take out and tonight I ate my dinner there.

The food I really enjoyed, love their chicken teriyaki as it sizzles on the hot plate. I had tuna, salmon nigri & prawn ebi, and it was presented on this plate with lots of ginger & wasabi. When I came in, I was very hungry and thought I would have to order more, but I was full & took leftovers home with me. You will love the freshness, the presentation of the dishes, especially the chicken teriyaki and its not that expensive to eat there.

The service I wasn't impressed with on both occassion, and found one gal when I order out, was rude & blew me off. I chalked it up as they where busy and thought I would eat in the next time. When I ate there, my server didn't seem to care or bother to inquire about my meal. I had asked for rice for the chicken teriyaki, and my server made a rude remark and insult as not to finishing all my rice. When they served my coca cola in the can, I requested a glass with ice, and was annoyed when she returned with my request. Its too bad the service I received was rude towards the customer and if I return, it will be take out & call ahead.

On the plus side, I love their food, location is easy to get too, and its not expensive. I only hope their servers improve and become friendlier to their customers.

Great big breakfast & awesome service.
Submitted Monday, June 2, 2008 - 8:37pm [Dine in]

I like their breakfast so much, I returned a few days later to have it again. I love this cozy place, bright, friendly service and each meal that was order looked delicious.
On both occassion, I couldn't finish my breakfast, I was stuffed, and came around to refill my coffee.
If you're looking for a place for breakfast or lunch, this place serves up many dishes, and look forward to trying out their lunch menu.
I do recommend, and will be back.

I like this place.
Submitted Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - 8:51pm [Dine in]

I've been in Waves a few times, walking pass at any hour, and love their fresh baked goods to their coffee. When I have time, I like to sit at a window, drink my coffee and people watch. It can be busy at times, due to their popularity, and the service is friendly & helpful.

If you're in the area of lower lonsdale and want relax, nice stop to enjoy your coffee, this place is a great way to start or end your day.

Food is delicious.

This hidden & out of the way place, makes great chinese food and I think majority of their business is take out. I have grazed around the menu over the last few years, and found their food to be fresh, tasty, not greasy and enjoyable.

I like their combo or individual dishes, I like their egg fried rice, beef in black bean sauce, sweet & sour pork, wonton soup, egg rolls to chicken with vegetables to name a few.

If you're going to eat here, it can be warm inside and they have fans, but rarely have I ever seen them on. As for the service, it can be slow, like watching paint dry, to the point they ignore you. As soon as you got it figured out, they can be very friendly to the point of being obnoxious. This is why the majority of time I will order my food ahead of time.

This place makes great chinese food, you will get lots, its fresh, and you're definately have left overs for the next day.

I will be back and next time, it will be take out.

Why did I try it again?
Submitted Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - 8:14pm [Dine in]

It's been ages since I last ate at Eighties, and remembered once I got my breakfast, why I never returned. If you like lots of butter, want to have a heart attack, this is the place.

I will agree, its a cheap place to eat, and if my soak up butter mind can recall, it wasn't that expensive the last time I ate there.

The scramble eggs & brown toast where soaked in butter, too the point I couldn't finish my egg's. I don't know if they know how to make hashbrowns, but it was a clump on my plate, that was cooked briefly on the outside and cold on the inside. The only plus, there coffee was very good, which came quick and came around with refills.

I might have arrived on a off day, maybe the chef called in sick, but someone need's to learn how to cook hashbrown, and stop using so much butter, my toast wouldn't have been soggy.

I wish I could have given a positive review.

Decent food, Large portions, enough for 2 meal to take home.
Submitted Monday, May 26, 2008 - 3:06pm [Dine in]

I was in Lynn Valley went I started to get hungry, and saw Aristos opposite side of the street from the Library.
It wasn't too busy, I was greeted by the chef, who served me, and decided to order the roast lamb. Talk about a hugh portion for lunch, the lamb was delicious, it was cooked perfectly as it fell off the bone & melted in my mouth. The potatoes & rice were a nice compliment and love the taste of my entire meal. I had enough food left over to have it for lunch the next day or dinner tonight, and asked for another piece of pita bread to enjoy when I finish of my meal.
The place isn't super big, I found it to be warm inside, and would think they do alot of take out in the summer months. I will definately be back and try something else, and this place is a hidden gem in Lynn Valley.

It didn't wow me.
Submitted Saturday, May 24, 2008 - 2:20am [Dine in]

I went around 1pm on Friday, and my first impression was loud. As I walked in, saw many tables everywhere, and found the tables where close together.

My server was polite, friendly and helpful with her suggestions. I didn't see her very much during my meal. I ordered the Guylan in oyster sauce, steamed prawns & bbq pork.
I did like the steamed prawns & bbq pork, it was hot, fresh, great taste. As for the guylan in oyster sauce, was disappointing, since the sauce was on the side and didn't find it had any flavour. I was better off going to Hons for that dish.
The place, service and food was okay. If you're bringing people who are hard of hearing, or want to converse, this place is loud.

Service & food was quick.
Submitted Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 10:57pm [Dine in]

I was in the area when I remembered this spot, from a co worker who eats there often.

I tried AYCE Sushi at the dinner hour, tried the Chicken Teriyaki with rice, Avacado, California Rolls & Tuna & Salmon Ebi.

The Tuna & Salmon Ebi, was excellent, fresh, and was first to arrive at my table. The chicken teriyaki, isn't large in size, but when you're eating other food, you don't need alot to get full. I didn't think the teriyaki was that great, the sauce was a bit salty, and wasn't as good as other places... This is how we all learn. The California & Avacado rolls where good, but at this point I'm getting stuffed, not as hungry as I thought.

The best part, since I didn't eat as much as I thought I would, they charge me for lunch time price vs the dinner price. Thumbs up for giving me the deal.

As for the service, I found it to be friendly, they answered my questions and quick to arrive with the food.

I would return to try other things at this spot.

If I want Cheesecake, this is the place.
Submitted Thursday, May 15, 2008 - 10:47pm [Dine in]

I have been going to Cheesecake Etc for years, and its a great spot to enjoy dessert with friends or on a date. I usually eat somewhere in the area, and come here for dessert & tonight it was a nice stop.

I love their cheesecake of the night flavour and seen everything from Blueberry, rum, raspberry cheesecake to name a few over the years. I decided to order the plain cheesecake with strawberries, and got a large slice. Each bite is how I remember it, in years pass, and it was light, delicious and hit the spot. Although I couldn't finish mine, they had no problem packing up mine and sending me on my way.

I try to go in when they first open after 7pm, and if its the weekend, it can get crowded and loud, since its not all that big. Bring cash, have fun, and enjoy eat bite.

West Broadway Red Robin Rocks.
Submitted Tuesday, May 13, 2008 - 8:30pm [Dine in]

I was in the area & decided to try the West Broadway Red Robin. I have a new home, love it, great service, friendly, and the food was delicious. Its bright, cheery, big patio, spacious and large windows.

I had to have their chocolate milkshakes, its not often I drink them, but Red Robin is known for their great shakes. It did live up to how I remembered them, so it was the right choice. I did order wings, tasty, delicious and need lots of napkins.

My server was friendly, quick, kept checking on me, and he was a very nice server. I got converted to liking this location, since the last time I was Red Robin, I got horrible service. The staff was rude, clueless, kept bringing me the wrong order, the food was cold, the manager didn't handle the complaint and left me not wanting to come to any location.

Thank you West Broadway, my experience was positive and I'll be back to your location. The other Red Robins could learn customer service from your store.

Highly recommend it.

Sushi hit the spot.
Submitted Monday, May 12, 2008 - 7:32pm [Dine in]

I decided to try this place for a late lunch and the food was delicious. I had ordered the Chicken teriyaki box & I added tuna, salmon & prawn ebi to my meal.

I found the salmon, prawn & tuna very fresh and presented well. I did like the chicken teriyaki box, came with rice, salad, 3 pieces of california roll and tempura. I did try to order coca cola, but I think they ran out of stock, I got 7up in the can, with no glass and it was luke warm, didn't finish it.

My meal came to $13.00 in change but found the server too young & inexperience, when it came to getting my bill.

Note to everyone, this isn't a very big place, about 8 tables & 4 chairs at the sushi bar. I think alot of their orders are take out due, to the size of the place.

I like their food, I would return but for take out.

Healthy food to go.

I like Opa & how fresh & their food is very delicious. I like the chicken pita, has lots of flavour with taziki sauce & veggies. I even tried their chicken souvalki with veggies & salad, and its prepared right before your eyes.
The service is quick, friendly, & Opa caters more to take out. If you want to eat there, space isn't that big, its clean, bright with a cheery staff to greet you.
If in the area, I suggest you check it out. Food is fresh & good.

Cheap food to match the service
Submitted Saturday, May 3, 2008 - 1:47am [Dine in]

I've been to Teresa's Cafe a couple of times and it wasn't too busy to try it again. If you're looking for a cheap eat, if you want a big portion for breakfast, this is it, but don't expect friendly service.
I usually eat their cheese omlettes or scramble eggs with hasbrown & toast, and each time I walk away full. The coffee each time i've been there, I find bitter in taste, but then you're coming to a cheap place what do you expect.
Speaking of cheap, the service is quick, lacking in personality & friendliness. I would suggest pointing on the menu to what you would like, since on gal is weak in understanding english.
If in the area, don't want to spend alot of money, its not too busy, try it.

No method to their madness
Submitted Tuesday, April 29, 2008 - 3:47pm [Dine in]

It wasn't until today, I finally walk into their location, after years tasting their baked good at office function and various parties.
I love their Polyoron cookies, and have tried assortment of cakes and pasteries.
When I walked into their store, I found it not to be friendly, no method to how your order with a very annoyed staff member behind the counter. I believe she was annoyed long before I arrived, as I heard her growl at the previous customer, and it wasn't that busy. I ordered my favourite cookies, as I walked to the cashier, and she was the only one that was nice with a friendly smile. I've been wanting their cookies for such a long time, that my experience walking in their location, maybe my last visit, and will have to wait for another function.
Lucky for me, I know many, that visit this store, so I can put in a request.
Don't expect much in customer service when you get there.

Submitted Monday, April 28, 2008 - 6:46pm [Dine in]

I was in the area when I decided to try this AYCE sushi for lunch. It was around 1pm, not too busy, service was fast & friendly.
I liked the chicken teriyaki dish, I like the taste & was large in size. I tried the avacado & California Roll, which came quickly with my meal. I found the avacado roll wasn't all that great tasting, and the california roll lack flavour.
I've been spoiled by another AYCE in North Van for less money & bigger selection. Plus the price in North Van is lower than Fish On Rice, if you're in the area for lunch, its a place I would say try it at least once.

I will go to Fairmont Hotel Vancouver a couple of times of year, to have their breakfast buffet. I love the choices from scramble egg's, fresh fruit, waffle to pancakes. The food is delicious, the location is bright and the service is friendly. The breakfast is $25.00 per person, and this is why I will usually go when its near/after my birthday and during christmas season.

Enjoy and bring your appetite.

I have always used their delivery service for work. Every time I have ordered, my food has arrived hot, fast and they even bring me knives & forks with my order.

I like their honey garlic chicken wings, they make a great baked meatball spaghetti dish, that feeds me for two days. When I have eaten their Pizza, I love their hamburger or vegetarian pizza and its not greasy.

I know many people like their food, and I prefer this downtown location than the one on the North Shore. If you want order pasta to pizza, I have found their food is always tasty.
