I had just gotten off the Canada Line, looking for Sushi and saw JI across the street. I had arrived at 3pm, to try their ACYE Sushi and was seated immediately.
I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, Goyza, Dynamite Roll, Salmon Nigiri and salmon roll. Everything I tried was good, and liked the Chicken Teriyaki, great flavour and tasted great. I was surprised with the Goyza, very fresh and loved how it tasted. The dynamite was made really well and was my favourite and the Salmon Nigiri, was fresh, lots of flavour and I could have eaten lots more. I did find the salmon rolls, fell apart really easily and didn't have as much flavour as the rest meal.
The service was friendly, quick and helpful and quite like how relaxed the restaurant was, and did service checks throughout my meal. I decided to quit ahead, when I was full, and decided not to over stuff myself.
Acye sushi for $10.99 before taxes & tips, was a great deal. I will have to come back from 3 to 6pm, when I want ACYE sushi. Easy to get to and worth the visit.
I decided after many months, walking pass, to give them a try. I was greeted warmly and it wasn't too busy for after 1pm. I decided to order the Dynamite Roll box to eat in. I loved the Chicken teriyaki great tasting with noodles and rice. The tempura was good & crispy and Dynamite roll was large, had lots of flavour, but fell apart easily..it was still good. It even came with salad, gyoza and strawberry, the bento box was good for the price for about $10.50 was filling, and had left overs.
Look forward to trying it again.
I've been to Doc's a few times, and if the weather is nice, i will order to go due to the very limited seating. The pizza is never greasy, fresh tasting with lots on top of the pizza. I love the pizza, its thin crust and crunchy. I have tried the meat lovers, ham and pineapple to pepperoni and mushroom, all so far have been good. Two slices usually fill me up and what I usually do, I take it to go and eat outside around the area.
Not the biggest place, and hidden since its not a big location.
I was in Gastown, wanted sushi and decided to check it out. I ordered the dynamte roll, avacado roll, 3 salmon nigiri and cucumber roll. when I walked in, I thought the service was rushed..it wasn't busy for 11.30am, and didn't get it. I placed my order, the dynmate roll wasn't too bad, but fell apart very easily. I liked the avacado and cucumber roll, both tasty. The Salmon nigiri wasn't very good, only ate 1 piece, and wasn't wild about their wasabi or ginger. It could have been an off day, they gave me the bill and wish the staff was a bit more friendlier.
I doubt I will return.
I had heard about this location from clients, and decided to check it out the next time I was in Gastown. I've noticed how trendy this little hole in the wall has become, and when you walk in, the tea store is beautiful. I love how modern, relax, bright and great smelling this store was, to enhance my taste buds for tea.
I odered the Chai tea latte, the lady was friendly, including the owner..I sure hope they keep their name, since they were thinking of changing it to Gastown Tea...boring. I paid under $5.00 for the tea. The fragrance was wonderful, the taste was sweet, since I asked for Vanilla and got better with each taste. This place is a treat, so if you want to read a book, people watch, enjoy some pastries and enjoy your tea, this is the spot.
Will be back and I sure hope they keep their name.
I have never been big on Grilled Cheese, until I decided I would try Mom's. What made me try them, was seeing the many happy customers, with great looking and tasting sandwiches. I have yet to try the meatloaf cheese sandwich, and even hear she wants to take it off the menu for the summer.
The staff is allways friendly, ready to make you laugh and their sandwiches are amazing and very tasty. I love their bread, and I usually get the Havaratti to make my lunch. It will come off the truck, hot, gooey, yummy and filling. I love their homemade chips and I want to try the Peanut butter and banana one day, but I usually keep eating their sandwiches over and over...as you can tell, I'm hooked.
No seating area, bring your humour, and much near by at the art gallery. This truck is popular and will be in the summer time.
Enjoy
I have heard about Swiss Bakery and was finally in the area and decided to check it out. I love the bakery smell of fresh baked breads and cookies. I decided to order their Multigrain, loved how it was still warm, and it was then bought two loaves. I thought the service was good, since the gal was going as quickly as she could, and was friendly with everyone waiting for her. This place is just off main street, and didn't expect to come accross and really nice bakery that sold many items.
When I got home, I loved their multigrain bread so much, I wanted to keep eating the entire loaf of bread. Fresh, wonderful aroma, greaat texture and was delicious. I will have to go back to check out their sandwiches and soup, and even their cookies. I'm glad I live not too close, or this place could be a home away from home.
The people that we're inside the bakery, all had something good to say about their food.
Will be back.
I notice this new restaurant, decided to order take out and tried the giant montreal smoke meat and their chocolate cake.
I found the rye bread to be dry and wish they had toasted it. They did put lots of meat in the sandwich and took my first bite. I thought the sandwich was okay, had flavour in the meat, and it filled me up. I only wish the bread was better and this meal would have met my expectations. The Chocolate cake was amazing, super moist, lots of chocolate, incrediblly taste and was dizzles in chocolate & caramel sauce. I loved it, will be back again for their chocolate cake, and try something else on the menu.
Good spot to order ahead and have it ready for pick up. Cake is excellent.
This place is nice inside, not alot of seating, and most people order and leave. I decided to order Americano and heard alot about their macaroons. These cookies aren't cheap and for 7 small cookies, cost $13.00, and anywhere else I could buy a cake, pasteries or lots of cookies. I felt for the price the cookies I tried, Vanilla, Chocolate hazelnut and chocolate caramel. really lack taste, freshness and weren't worth the price I paid. I wanted to like these expensive cookies, but talk about how bland with little flavour they left me. The americano had a great aroma, but was way to strong & bitter. This place is all about the hype, so bring lots of money, to enjoy their indulgence.
I've been hearing about Nu, they did have their street cart during the summer, and this location which I tried on Robson St.
I was greeted by a friendly owner and was told everything was handmade. I ordered the chicken souvalki pita and it was fresh, great tasting, lots of flavour and love the pita. I didn't have to wait long, came after 1pm and they do have limited seating inside and outside, so many people who did arrive, order to go. I was impressed with the food, and will have to come back to try their lamb souvalki next time.
Very good food. Will be back.
I went with 2 other friends, arrived around 11am, and it wasn't too long after our arrival, this place fills up fast. My friend ordered a variety of dishes from Beef with Noodle in black bean sauce, prawn & pork dumplings, egg rolls, gui lan in oyster sauce, and couple of other dishes. All the dishes once they started coming out, arrived fairly quick and all hot. The Beef with noodle with black bean sauce, was my favourite dish, tons of flavour, in a large dish and I could eat it again. I found all the dishes had lots of flavour, with plenty of green tea. Our meal was finished in about hour & half and came to $32.00 or $12.00 per person. Great Asian flavour with friendly service and the dishes were inexpensive with lots of flavour.
Look forward to trying it again.
I decided to try them, plus it was nice day outside to enjoy their chicken sandwich. I love it, fresh, tasty, lots of flavour and be prepared to bring napkins. I thought for the price of $7.00, it was a very goiod deal, and the sandwich I definately enjoyed eating outside in the plaza.
I will be back to this vendor, and was very surprised how good it was.
I decided to try Thai yala after work, and this place wasn't busy for Saturday night. I decided to place my order for take out, and as I waited. I ordered their Chicken with Brocoli in garlic, Jasmin rice and prawn rolls. I thought the prawn rolls were bland and lack any flavour and I felt they gave me little chicken with my brocoli dish. I was full from my dinner, but I felt disappointed that my food wasn't as good as I was hoping and expensive.
This place didn't wow me.
On Saturday, this place was busy, and had their patio available due to the nice weather. I was greeted by a busy server, and made myself comfortable to read over the menu. I ordered their French Toast and coffee. and found the coffee to be excellent. When my french toast arrived, I got 4 thick slices of french toast with fruit and it was definately good. My brunch was really good, and noticed the servers were busy and running aound.
I will have to try it for lunch, good experience.
I have been hearing about this place for awhile, and decided to have a late lunch. I was greeted by their friendly server, got seated immediately and serves chips & salsa. I ordered the beef burritto, they changed the beans with rice and added sour cream inside my meal. This burritto was hugh, filling inside and had a great taste. I loved my burritto so much, that I ordered another one to go, to eat at work for my dinner. I'm still full from lunch, that my burritto will have to be enjoyed tomorrow.
Impressed with the food, I was quite surprised with how good it was, and the service was excellent. Will be back soon.
I thought I would stop in for a bite to eat, ordered their americano and egg & bacon sandwich for a late breakfast. My server was friendly and noticed their menu board and they seem to offer a variety of choices to eat, including burgers. Nice change from the old place.
My breakfast was good, and it hit the spot. I quite like their americano, nice taste, aroma and freshness was very enjoyable. It wasn't too busy for the middle of the week, and I will be back to explore their menu.
I had lunch at Wok Box at Capilano square and found the service to be friendly, helpful and quick. I decided on the Chicken teriyaki with rice bowl and Coca cola.
When you walk in, they take your order, you pay, find a seat and they bring your meal. It wasn't too busy at 1pm, and my chicken teriyaki came in bowl with fresh, steaming vegetables and piping hot chicken. I wasn't super hungry, felt for the size, it hit the spot and it was under $11.00.
I will have to try it again, and sample something different on the menu. What I did try, I thought was good and service was quick.
I decided to try Rockford for lunch, and I loved how they renovated the former Burger King, into a modern and comfortable place. Thumbs up for the waitress for dealing with a tempermental customer who didn't like anything and she dealt with it very well.
I looked over the menu, decided to try the roast beef baquette with french fries that looked like chips. I like how my sandwich tasted, but I felt for $16.00, it only came with homemade chips, no salad or veggie and thought expensive meal. The selection on the menu has variety and ranging from $12.00 and upward, and the feeling they give from the first bite, you don't like it, we'll give you something else...and they did many service checks thoughout my stay.
I didn't sit in the lounge, but I do like how they have it set up, TV's by the bar, and everything nicely display. I did like the service, very attentive, and will try it again and something different on the menu.
I was in the Royal Centre food court, and wanted to try Extreme Pita. I decided to order Grilled Chicken on white pita. I was given large selection of toppings, as I picked mushroom, lettuce, cucumbers, mozzerella cheese and honey dijon to my pita. They put all the toppings in, added my grilled chicken and for around $8.00 for large pita, I had my lunch.
The pita tasted great, had lots of flavour and quality ingedients inside, and definately filling. If you want food court appeal, rush to eat in or take away, this is a spot to have a pita with a variety of choices.
Will be back.
I noticed Taco Del Mar when I was at the skytrain and got 2 soft taco's and beverage for under $8.00. This location isn't very fancy, not alot of seating and staff was okay in service. I got my soft taco's and the flavour was okay, nothing outstanding and the cocoa cola was good. I expected maybe more from the menu, more variety, and if you need to get something quick, while waiting for the bus, it caters to take out.
