Nu Greek542 Robson Street, Vancouver
Ate inside their 500 block Robson Location
Submitted Monday, December 19, 2011 - 7:25pm [Dine in]

I've been hearing about Nu, they did have their street cart during the summer, and this location which I tried on Robson St.
I was greeted by a friendly owner and was told everything was handmade. I ordered the chicken souvalki pita and it was fresh, great tasting, lots of flavour and love the pita. I didn't have to wait long, came after 1pm and they do have limited seating inside and outside, so many people who did arrive, order to go. I was impressed with the food, and will have to come back to try their lamb souvalki next time.

Very good food. Will be back.

cheap dim sum with 3 people
Submitted Thursday, November 10, 2011 - 6:40pm [Dine in]

I went with 2 other friends, arrived around 11am, and it wasn't too long after our arrival, this place fills up fast. My friend ordered a variety of dishes from Beef with Noodle in black bean sauce, prawn & pork dumplings, egg rolls, gui lan in oyster sauce, and couple of other dishes. All the dishes once they started coming out, arrived fairly quick and all hot. The Beef with noodle with black bean sauce, was my favourite dish, tons of flavour, in a large dish and I could eat it again. I found all the dishes had lots of flavour, with plenty of green tea. Our meal was finished in about hour & half and came to $32.00 or $12.00 per person. Great Asian flavour with friendly service and the dishes were inexpensive with lots of flavour.

Look forward to trying it again.

Super Good Chicken Sandwich.
Submitted Wednesday, September 28, 2011 - 8:23pm [Take-out]

I decided to try them, plus it was nice day outside to enjoy their chicken sandwich. I love it, fresh, tasty, lots of flavour and be prepared to bring napkins. I thought for the price of $7.00, it was a very goiod deal, and the sandwich I definately enjoyed eating outside in the plaza.

I will be back to this vendor, and was very surprised how good it was.

Thai Yala Restaurant1925 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
Food Okay
Submitted Sunday, March 27, 2011 - 8:34pm [Take-out]

I decided to try Thai yala after work, and this place wasn't busy for Saturday night. I decided to place my order for take out, and as I waited. I ordered their Chicken with Brocoli in garlic, Jasmin rice and prawn rolls. I thought the prawn rolls were bland and lack any flavour and I felt they gave me little chicken with my brocoli dish. I was full from my dinner, but I felt disappointed that my food wasn't as good as I was hoping and expensive.

This place didn't wow me.

Busy Saturday Brunch
Submitted Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - 7:05pm [Dine in]

On Saturday, this place was busy, and had their patio available due to the nice weather. I was greeted by a busy server, and made myself comfortable to read over the menu. I ordered their French Toast and coffee. and found the coffee to be excellent. When my french toast arrived, I got 4 thick slices of french toast with fruit and it was definately good. My brunch was really good, and noticed the servers were busy and running aound.

I will have to try it for lunch, good experience.

Excellent food & service
Submitted Wednesday, January 26, 2011 - 6:18pm [Dine in]

I have been hearing about this place for awhile, and decided to have a late lunch. I was greeted by their friendly server, got seated immediately and serves chips & salsa. I ordered the beef burritto, they changed the beans with rice and added sour cream inside my meal. This burritto was hugh, filling inside and had a great taste. I loved my burritto so much, that I ordered another one to go, to eat at work for my dinner. I'm still full from lunch, that my burritto will have to be enjoyed tomorrow.
Impressed with the food, I was quite surprised with how good it was, and the service was excellent. Will be back soon.

The coffee was really good.
Submitted Tuesday, January 25, 2011 - 6:43pm [Dine in]

I thought I would stop in for a bite to eat, ordered their americano and egg & bacon sandwich for a late breakfast. My server was friendly and noticed their menu board and they seem to offer a variety of choices to eat, including burgers. Nice change from the old place.

My breakfast was good, and it hit the spot. I quite like their americano, nice taste, aroma and freshness was very enjoyable. It wasn't too busy for the middle of the week, and I will be back to explore their menu.

Meal was good.
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 9:04pm [Dine in]

I had lunch at Wok Box at Capilano square and found the service to be friendly, helpful and quick. I decided on the Chicken teriyaki with rice bowl and Coca cola.
When you walk in, they take your order, you pay, find a seat and they bring your meal. It wasn't too busy at 1pm, and my chicken teriyaki came in bowl with fresh, steaming vegetables and piping hot chicken. I wasn't super hungry, felt for the size, it hit the spot and it was under $11.00.
I will have to try it again, and sample something different on the menu. What I did try, I thought was good and service was quick.

Rockford Wok Bar Grill1493 Marine Drive, North Vancouver
Expensive for roast beef baquette
Submitted Saturday, January 22, 2011 - 8:58pm [Dine in]

I decided to try Rockford for lunch, and I loved how they renovated the former Burger King, into a modern and comfortable place. Thumbs up for the waitress for dealing with a tempermental customer who didn't like anything and she dealt with it very well.
I looked over the menu, decided to try the roast beef baquette with french fries that looked like chips. I like how my sandwich tasted, but I felt for $16.00, it only came with homemade chips, no salad or veggie and thought expensive meal. The selection on the menu has variety and ranging from $12.00 and upward, and the feeling they give from the first bite, you don't like it, we'll give you something else...and they did many service checks thoughout my stay.
I didn't sit in the lounge, but I do like how they have it set up, TV's by the bar, and everything nicely display. I did like the service, very attentive, and will try it again and something different on the menu.

Extreme Pita1055 West Georgia Street, Unit 222, Vancouver
Great tasting pita, and filling.
Submitted Monday, November 8, 2010 - 9:12pm [Dine in]

I was in the Royal Centre food court, and wanted to try Extreme Pita. I decided to order Grilled Chicken on white pita. I was given large selection of toppings, as I picked mushroom, lettuce, cucumbers, mozzerella cheese and honey dijon to my pita. They put all the toppings in, added my grilled chicken and for around $8.00 for large pita, I had my lunch.
The pita tasted great, had lots of flavour and quality ingedients inside, and definately filling. If you want food court appeal, rush to eat in or take away, this is a spot to have a pita with a variety of choices.

Will be back.

Taco Del Mar4132 Dawson Street, Burnaby
Quick bite to eat
Submitted Saturday, November 6, 2010 - 8:13pm [Dine in]

I noticed Taco Del Mar when I was at the skytrain and got 2 soft taco's and beverage for under $8.00. This location isn't very fancy, not alot of seating and staff was okay in service. I got my soft taco's and the flavour was okay, nothing outstanding and the cocoa cola was good. I expected maybe more from the menu, more variety, and if you need to get something quick, while waiting for the bus, it caters to take out.

Submitted Monday, October 11, 2010 - 6:35pm [Dine in]

I decided to check out the new Fairmont and notice this cafe and decided to give it a try. I was greeted by this friendly male server, who was personable, knowledgeable and funny. I was drawn to his suggestion, and ordered the small americano and Breakfast sandwich to enjoy inside. It didn't take long before my Americano arrive and soon after my breakfast. This particular server check on me, could have continued on with his duties, and was absolutely positive eating experience. Thumbs up to this server, If I could have nominated him to Executive level, I would have, and its rare to meet anyone that took pride in his job.
The breakfast sandwich was very good, had great taste and my coffee had lots of flavour. I can see this place being busy during the morning rush or afternoon lunch, but I think with the servver I had, I would definately return again...slow or busy.

Excellent.

Disappointing Dim Sum
Submitted Friday, October 8, 2010 - 8:26pm [Dine in]

I wasn't impressed with the service, not enough servers at this busy location. I felt rushed to order, and found the Shrimp Prawns dumpling, lack flavour and taste. I thought my won ton soup didn't have enough flavour in the broth or won tons, and its expensive for the small size. I did like my spring rolls, hot, crispy and good in taste.
The overall experience didn't wow me, found the Dim Sum expensive, and service could improve for what you pay in a meal.

Submitted Saturday, October 2, 2010 - 12:59pm [Dine in]

I was wanting sushi and stumble across Azuma and decided to try it out. I had ordered their Dynamite roll, with Salmon & tuna Maki and 2 salmon Nigiri.
I thought the dynmate roll was excellent, lots of flavour and big, including the salmon & tuna maki, which had great taste. I thought the salmon nigiri melted in my mouth and was fantastic..will have to order that again.
My meal did satisfy me and thought the service was friendly and polite. Will have to come back and explore the menu.

Large windows to enjoy your coffee
Submitted Saturday, October 2, 2010 - 12:52pm [Dine in]

I was walking pass JJ, the other day, saw this new location and wanted to have their coffee. I decided to take in the ambiance, with their big windows, comfortable location and people watch. It wasn't that busy, my server was friendly and ordered cafe americano and pastry. I liked this location, very relaxed, my coffee was great, lots of flavour, and not bitter or chalky.

I had my pastry later in the day, lots of chocolate and hit the spot.

Recommended when you're in the area. Great spot to people watch.

Stepho's Greek Taverna1124 Davie St, Vancouver
Large portions with little flavour
Submitted Saturday, October 2, 2010 - 12:47pm [Dine in]

I've been to stepho's a few times over the years, and wanted to see if my opinion change with their roast lamb dish. The price is great for under $10.00, and you get lots on your plate for leftovers the next day.
I still found the lamb fatty, with little flavour and didn't have much taste to it. I did like the potatoes, rice, which you get lots of it, along with this stew and pita bread.
I picked a good time, after the crowds had left and around 1.30pm for my late lunch. I found the place was not too busy, server was friendly and quick.
I don't know how soon I will be back, the food too me was just okay, and only wish they could make a better lamb dish with more flavour and less fat.

This place is all about the hype.

cute spot for coffee or Gelato
Submitted Saturday, August 21, 2010 - 3:03pm [Dine in]

I really like how they use their space, and design this location. Bright, airy and very clean, you walk in, go up some stairs and you're greeted by a warm & friendly server at the counter. They have their own Gelato, will have to try it next time, assortment of breakfast, and lunches and you can eat in or take out. I tried their breakfast panini with chicken, ham, mushroom and cheese with americano. My meal came to under $10.00, which I thought was high, but adding in the dreaded HST, my meal arrived quickly.

I liked my breakfast, very tasty, lots of flavour and I was full. I thought the coffee was good, lots of flavour and walked out full. I didn't see the prices of the Gelato but I will have to try it one day.

Bring your wallet, food is good.

Cheap Breakfast
Submitted Saturday, June 12, 2010 - 8:19pm [Dine in]

I went with my friend to have our breakfast, and we both ordered the same, eggs, toast, hashbrown and bacon with our coffee. The food was quick, had lots of taste and the service was friendly, helpful and attentive. We didn't even have to ask for refill for coffee's and its nice to see the server greet her regular customers by their name.

Value excellent, around $13.00 for the both of us, and my friend found another place to have breakfast.

Will be back again.

Sushi Bella152 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver
My new home.
Submitted Friday, May 28, 2010 - 3:40pm [Dine in]

I finally got the chance to try Sushi Bella for lunch and was impressed from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by a friendly server and gave me my menu to check over.
I decided to order the Dynamite combo with 2 Salmon and Tuna nigiri, with soft drink. I was amazed, the tuna nigiri melted in my mouth, absolutely amazing and had the same experience with the salmon. Its not often I stop to enjoy the salmon and tuna, and plan to try it again, on my next visit. The dynamite roll was great tasting, lots of flavour and was a delicious combo.
What I like about this place, was the glasses the water came in, easy to grip and design, and the place will be a hit for eating in or take out. Bright, spacious, several chairs for the sushi table and variety of tables and I have no doubt they'll do well.

My meal was around $13.00 before tip, and this is a spot I plan to visit very soon.

Highly recommended to eat in or take out, will be back to visit home...can we say YUM!!

Okay lunch
Submitted Tuesday, May 25, 2010 - 5:51pm [Dine in]

I was greeted by a friendly server and I decided to order their Dynamite roll, avacado roll and 2 salmon & tuna nigiri. My meal wasn't too long of wait, but I didn't like the Salmon or Tuna nigiri, found it to be dry and the rice was warm. My avacado roll was good, and had lots of taste to it. I was disappointed in the dynamite roll, dry in taste and not very much flavour and I didn't finish it or want to take the rest home.

Glad I tried it, left me with wanting to explore other places.
