Now that's a burger
Submitted Friday, November 7, 2014 - 4:52pm [Dine in]

I've walked pass this place many times and decided I wanted to try this place and their burgers. This place wasn't busy on a Friday lunch time and understood why the burger took awhile to get to me.
I've never seen a burger bigger than my hands, stood tall and came with its on Knife. The actual burger was large topped with lettuce, tomatoes, onion rings with a nice fresh bun and side of fries. I decided to tackle this burger, but my mouth wasn't big enough and found it hard to get a good grasp without getting sauce on you, so dig in and use lots of napkins.
What took me so long to try this place, is beyond me, the meal was enourmous and had lots of flavour. When I want a burger I'm going there to have it, perfection to art and I'm still full after 5 hours.
I didn't have any room to eat dessert, being that full and content over a burger was super delicious.

Go there with an empty stomach. Hugh portions. I'll be back soon.

Fish N chips for lunch
Submitted Wednesday, July 23, 2014 - 8:30pm [Dine in]

The one big complaint I have with the Glowball Restaurants, why do they make their eating locations cramped? Why is everyone so close together, and put a bit of space with ambiance could make a difference with any meal.

I was in here with the lunch crowd, stuck side by side, and decided to try their fish n chip lunch box special. I really like the fish n chips, came out perfectly, crunch and the fries tasted really good. I did like their salad with vinaigrette dressing. As for the coleslaw, awful, think it maybe kimchi, but I didn't even try it after the first bite.
The fish n chips were a great deal for lunch and would go back to have it again, in the future.

The service I felt needed to be worked on, and for the managers in the corner, using their cellphones, laptops, ipads, yelling out across the floors to some trade person, left me wondering don't they have office??? I suggest all of you go in a back room to conduct your daily business, speak to trades, staff and suppliers, which I felt this was the main reason service lack any personal style. Take a look at the managers....

I would come back again for the fish n chips, and hope the service improves for my next visit.

Food is good
Submitted Thursday, November 21, 2013 - 10:24pm [Dine in]

I started trying Urban sushi in October, had a great meal, I keep returning to try their other dishes, They have two restaurants in the same place, Urban Sushi and Urban Grill, tried both, and prefer their sushi.
I've had their Chicken teriyaki, Salmon Nigiri, Dynamite roll, Tempera, to my new favourite Chicken Udon soup. Their Udon soup is meal, love their broth, chicken and Rice udon noodles. The price does very on your order to $10.00 to $15.00, and I walk away full and happy.

The staff can be mixed, from warm and friendly to being annoyed to why you're there, some staff can be wealth information and some don't know their food product well. Depends on your server, how busy this place can be and how many people are waiting for meals. The location decor is simple and don't like the chairs by the sushi bar, I would say cheap and uncomfortable. As for the tables, close to your neighbours;but I've never had to wait, but at lunch or dinner times, I can see it being very busy.

I like this place for where its located, easy to catch your bus and the food is good. I wish they would change their sushi chairs...hint hint.

Food was okay.
Submitted Monday, October 21, 2013 - 10:13pm [Dine in]

I decided to order the lamb souvlaki, came with potatoes, rice and change the greek salad to garden salad. I wish I could rave about the food, found the lamb dry, rice on the spicy side and potatoes okay. I did like the garden salad. My meal came to under $20.00.
I found the service friendly, wasn't busy for the lunch time, just got them when they open at 5pm. I felt for the price it was okay. Maybe they had an off night.

I decided to order the chicken teriyaki bento box with california roll, chicken teriyaki, salad, tempera. The meal was filling, the chicken teriyaki had great flavour, including the tempera. I'm not big on california roll, and was okay.
The service was attentive, quick and friendly, would go back again for another meal.

okay sushi, sticky floors!
Submitted Monday, February 4, 2013 - 8:20pm [Take-out]

I was looking for sushi and thought I would give this place a try. Upon walking in, I found Kimono not tidy, floor was very sticky and had a funny odor, if I had walked into a hospital. I decided not to eat in, but to give it a try for take out and made my decision.
I ordered the dynamite roll, salmon nigiri, avacado, cucumber and salmon roll to go. I didn't have to wait too long, place wasn't that busy, majority of ppl pick up their food.
I got to work, Dynamite roll wasn't all that impressive and seemed to lack taste. I was impressed with the salmon nigiri and roll, was delicious with lots of flavour. My avacado and cucumber were small in size, fell apart easily, and for the size was good.
I thought the place had potential to eat in, but lots of newspapers and clutter with the sticky squeeky floors when walking, not a good sign.
Too many sushi place to try, doubt I will be back.

Great food
Submitted Sunday, January 20, 2013 - 12:13am [Dine in]

I went to Sfinaki the other night with a friend and had two different meals. We started off with Humous with Pita bread, which was really good. I ordered the roast chicken with potatoes and rice, the chicken had great flavour, melted in your mouth and fell off the bone. I would definately go back for this meal.
My friend had the beef souvlaki with potatoes, rice and greek salad, reported that everyone was really good, she really liked her beef souvlaki, great taste with lots of flavour. We came at a good time around 6pm, and when we left this place was busy by 7.30pm, so its popular. Food was excellent, I plan to return soon.

Hidden Surprise
Submitted Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - 5:51pm [Dine in]

I didn't know Milestones had a location on Cambie and W8th, in the same location as Whole Foods. I was thinking I wanted Milestones, and looked across the street seeing this location.
I went in the afternoon, was greeted by a friendly server, and love the windows facing towards the city. I had ordered the Portebello Mushroom chicken dinner, loved the little baby carrotts and tasted great. This meal if I can eat it at one seating, tells me I'm hungry or can go on for two days, its filling and good. What I couldn't eat, I brought home, love this location, friendly service and what a wonderful surprise.

Will be back.

Soggy bread
Submitted Wednesday, January 16, 2013 - 5:44pm [Dine in]

I decided to try this location, and ordered their Grilled Cheese Sandwhich, It wasn't too busy when I walked in. I love how your meal comes on this wooden plate and went to the community tables.
When I started to eat my Grilled Cheese, the bread started off crisp with flavour, but the steam and heat of the meal, had the bread go soggy. I saw when I arrived their fresh bread, but didn't think the bread can hold up to anything too warm. I like the location, the service was friendly but I won't be trying Grilled cheese again.

Submitted Friday, December 14, 2012 - 6:51pm [Take-out]

I ordered Speciality beef Burritto with cheese and sour cream last night. The service was fast, my mexi fries were good, but my beef wasn't that tasty and thought it was undercooked. I don't expect alot for food court food, but for around $10.00, I just wasn't wild about this meal.

All Hype, where's the Chicken
Submitted Friday, December 14, 2012 - 12:45pm [Dine in]

When I came in, the restaurant was empty around 1.30pm. I found the server didn't understand english and when I asked for the Chicken with black bean sauce, could they add Brocolli instead of green peppers, she thought I wanted two orders. The lack of english made me frustrated, and asked for someone who could understand. At this point the lack of communication was zero and continued with my order. I didn't like how little they gave me in chicken, too much green peppers and onions. The noodles were fresh but the amount of back been sauce overpowered everything with the main dish lacking in chicken.
I don't get the hype, this place is now called new peace with so many places to eat, i doubt I will be back.

Very Friendly place
Submitted Friday, September 21, 2012 - 8:23pm [Dine in]

This litle tiny restaurant is one of the friendlies place I have visited in a long time. I was warmly greeted by the owner, and offered me a menu to check over.

I ordered their chicken baguette, spring roll and vietnamese ice coffee, all were great tasting, lots of flavour and fresh. I love their baguette, super fresh and wow on flavour. My spring roll was crispy, yummy and they brought me peanut sauce was awesome tasting. Vietnamese Ice coffee was good, a bit on the strong side but it did hit the spot. When waiting for my food, i saw their soups, did they look great, and really big servings.

I didn't find them too busy, it was around 4pm when I walked in, so I sure they stick around, great, awesome, super friendly and fantastic service...if dinehere had a 10 for service, they would get it. Will be back, hopefully sooner than later.

Yum

I decided to go and explore the Olympic Village and stumbled across this wonderful, open aired bakery and cafe. I walked in, saw lots of pastry, fresh fruits and sandwiches, and had a hard time resisting their goodies. I decided on their Breakfast egg and cheese Pannini and coffee, and the food did not disappoint. I was amazed how good my sandwich was, and how great it tasted, loved the Pannini. crisp and fresh. The coffee was a nice blend, great aroma and tasted out of this world. My morning walk and breakfast, turned out really well, and the service is beyond friendly, very helpful and found a wonderful place in the village to enjoy. Definately will be back. Customer service was excellent, well done.

okay sandwich
Submitted Wednesday, August 15, 2012 - 6:23pm [Take-out]

I walked in, very clean & tidy and the 2 people were friendly upon greeting me. That was the only highlight, both people made effort to talk with me when it came to my order.
I ordered french baquette with chicken with veggies and got soft drink. I loved the bread, fresh, crisp and toasty but the chicken was bland, it didn't seem to have much flavour, other than what I had in it, and wish I could have like it more.
The lackuster sandwich didn't win me over and with so many other gourmet food places around, I don't think I will try them again.

Lamb Pita not that good.
Submitted Tuesday, July 10, 2012 - 7:16pm [Take-out]

I have read the reviews and thought I would give it a try, since I was walking pass it. I ordered their Lamb Pita to go and the server was somewhat friendly. I didn't like how he was on a personal phone call, and should have been attentive to the people who came in, then walking around with the phone..

My Pita arrived wrapped up and ready to go, smelling very yummy, but when I got to eat it, that's when I dislike it. I found the lamb didn't taste that great, and one of the spices, if they do use it, was cinnamon/nutmeg. I had a variety of veggies and like the tzaski that was inside it, but the taste of the lamb, had this over powering taste of Cinnamon/nutmeg. It could have been an off day for them, but I doubt I will return. Too many other places to eat.

Great Lunch
Submitted Thursday, June 7, 2012 - 7:35pm [Dine in]

I decided to try haru on Lonsdale, wasn't too busy after 2pm and service was quick & personable. I ordered their Salmon nigiri, futomaki roll and dynamite roll. The Salmon Nigiri, was amazing, melted in my mouth and had to order more of the salmon. I thought the futomaki and dynamite both had great taste, flavour and they didn't fall apart. I was amazed how good the food was, and I won't wait another year to return.
The price wasn't all that bad either, and like how the service was friendly and quick.

Will be back.

Not very organized.
Submitted Thursday, May 31, 2012 - 8:28pm [Dine in]

I've gone here twice and found this location doesn't seem to be very prepared or organized in what they offer. If I see their menu, and they listed their meats or chicken, they should either have it or do what other location, list the food choices for the day. Each time I've tried to order their mediterranean chicken and their streak, and they didn't make it, due to not having the spices or ingredients...What's with that???

I have tried their roast beef sub, and you can add any topping you would like to have, for me it was lettuce, onions and mushrooms. They do offer spinach with avacado, but it wasn't either made or available..so again they need to decide what they should offer for the day..and provide the choices that are available...I went with Dijon mustard with my cabratta bun and was made. The location doesn't have alot of seating, so be prepared to take your sub or wrap to go.

The actual sub was good, the meat on both times, had lots of flavour and everything complimented one another. The sub came on cutting board, as I think they're trying to resemble some other new sandwiches place. I was definately full on both visit, but unless they offer what's on the menu, and the owner can train her staff better, this place could be a hit.

I only wish they would have what they say and not here what's not available..they need to work on that.

I will try them one more time in the coming months, and I hope they improve soon.

Submitted Thursday, May 10, 2012 - 8:56pm [Dine in]

I had just gotten off the Canada Line, looking for Sushi and saw JI across the street. I had arrived at 3pm, to try their ACYE Sushi and was seated immediately.

I ordered the Chicken Teriyaki, Goyza, Dynamite Roll, Salmon Nigiri and salmon roll. Everything I tried was good, and liked the Chicken Teriyaki, great flavour and tasted great. I was surprised with the Goyza, very fresh and loved how it tasted. The dynamite was made really well and was my favourite and the Salmon Nigiri, was fresh, lots of flavour and I could have eaten lots more. I did find the salmon rolls, fell apart really easily and didn't have as much flavour as the rest meal.
The service was friendly, quick and helpful and quite like how relaxed the restaurant was, and did service checks throughout my meal. I decided to quit ahead, when I was full, and decided not to over stuff myself.

Acye sushi for $10.99 before taxes & tips, was a great deal. I will have to come back from 3 to 6pm, when I want ACYE sushi. Easy to get to and worth the visit.

I decided after many months, walking pass, to give them a try. I was greeted warmly and it wasn't too busy for after 1pm. I decided to order the Dynamite Roll box to eat in. I loved the Chicken teriyaki great tasting with noodles and rice. The tempura was good & crispy and Dynamite roll was large, had lots of flavour, but fell apart easily..it was still good. It even came with salad, gyoza and strawberry, the bento box was good for the price for about $10.50 was filling, and had left overs.

Look forward to trying it again.

Great Pizza
Submitted Friday, May 4, 2012 - 8:57pm [Dine in]

I've been to Doc's a few times, and if the weather is nice, i will order to go due to the very limited seating. The pizza is never greasy, fresh tasting with lots on top of the pizza. I love the pizza, its thin crust and crunchy. I have tried the meat lovers, ham and pineapple to pepperoni and mushroom, all so far have been good. Two slices usually fill me up and what I usually do, I take it to go and eat outside around the area.
Not the biggest place, and hidden since its not a big location.
