i love everything about this place
Submitted Monday, January 21, 2013 - 11:22am [Dine in]

first impression about everything was WOW. the restaurant looks really beautiful, campared to the other milestones in another city. i ordered the prime rib 10oz which i havent had in many years, i just wish it had more meat than fat in it, but it was still delicious. service was excellent, very nice people, waitress remembers everything i asked for. i ordered dessert after, it was a chocolate pecan cake and a white chocolate cheesecake i think, it was really good.
this may not be the most detailed review, because i was paying more attention to hockey at that time.
overall, it's still my best place to go for prime rib. plus theres underground parking which i didnt know about.

very good viet pho
Submitted Friday, January 13, 2012 - 11:59am [Dine in]

I went there yesterday for dinner and to watch the canucks game (go canucks go!) and the waiter/owner gave me a good table with a good view of the screen. Food is excellent, like high quality vietnamese food. Menu is kinda small, but it's filled with great stuff that you should try.
I recommend the beef short ribs, the fried rice, and the pho bo. oh and the donut for dessert, it's like 5 big timbit.
the thing i like about the pho is that it's not too salty unlike other restaurants. some restaurants adds more salt to the soup for flavor, but this place adds more herbs. you can really drink the soup afterwards.
service is great, even the waiter waited until after the game to ask me "how's the dessert?"
For food this good, im not surprised that it's a bit expensive. but i dont care it's worth it. =)

authentic japanese food

walked in, greeted by everyone including the chefs, and the chefs wears a suit and tie, looks so cool. food is amazing, fresh and delicious. Lots of new items i havent seen before in any japanese restaurant, like unagi (eel) omelete, its not that bad, very creative though. had a lot of toro sashimi, which is the best in richmond. everything is very good and i wish someday ill try them all. always order dessert, 1 big scoop of green tea icecream, or the dino dessert is very good.

Best...noodle wrapped beef!
Submitted Thursday, March 17, 2011 - 10:33am [Dine in]

This place has the best noodle wrapped beef, or whatever its called. Ive been to a lot of dim sum restaurants and their dish was avergage, sometimes the noodle is a bit dry or theres no flavor, but Gingeri's dish is never a disappointment. Other dishes like the shrimp dumplings and beef balls are above average in taste and size. Service is pretty good, they pour tea for us (sometimes) which is nice.

Maruwa Sushi Japanese Restaurant11300 Steveston Highway, Richmond
best traditional sushi in richmond
Submitted Friday, March 11, 2011 - 2:09pm [Dine in]

I KNOW THE CHEF! i worked across from him for 3 years. food is great, no frozen or warm sashimi. everything is fresh and you can taste it. my favourite dishes are uni and unagi sushi, and chopped scallop rolls and they make the best ones ever. the only problem i have with this place is the size of the restaurant, so tiny, fits maybe 25 people, wish they expanded.

all the sushi is 50%off or something after 6pm, too bad theyre all gone by the time i got there, 3 TIMES! i like traditional japanese made stuff, from sushi to instant noodles. service is great, the cashiers smile, greet us, say good bye, just like traditional service you get in japan. Since most of their stuff is from japan, its a bit expensive, i bought 1 instant bowl noodles for $4, but it was very good.

service got a bit better, but not the food
Submitted Friday, March 11, 2011 - 12:38pm [Dine in]

overall the food is decent. however the sashimi pieces are getting smaller and smaller. i ordered the chopped scallop roll, its good, and the food came fast. i know that because they made the rolls in a rush and you can see that. when i say service got better, they actually poured tea for me and remembered to give me the bill. back then they didnt pour tea, you had to ask and wait for it, now they have someone walking around with a teapot. ill come here again if i cant think of any better places to go.

Good Pho
Submitted Thursday, March 10, 2011 - 5:15pm [Dine in]

food is great. i always order pho with raw beef, some restaurants let them sit in the hot soup for so long its cooked, but not lemongrass, my beef was still raw just the way i like it. springrolls are good too. some restaurants started to cut down by shrinking the size of the springrolls but i dont think lemongrass will do that. (i hope)

my taiwanese friend dragged me here. i dont think ive had taiwanese food before. i forgot what my friend ordered for me, but it was so good i ordered another one for takeout. service is pretty good, they actually LOOK around to see if anyone needed anything. i forgot about how much it cost, because my friend paid for me, but ill treat him back next time we visit.

i wouldnt mind coming here again, thats if i cant decide where to go. i dont care much about service as long as i get what i ordered. the thing that bugs me is that they dont have toro (my favourite sashimi) but thats ok. Theres nothing much i can say about this place, it's decent.
