Omg... Dimsum!?!
Submitted Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 1:54am [Dine in]

I would have to agree that this place is packed with people. The sitting area is just is too crowded, back to back squeezed right next to each other, acquaintances and strangers! Food was alright depends on what you have. Some dishes I find them exceptionally well compared to other fancy dim sum places and costs a lot less (price is only $2.00 with additional tax and tips). My favorites are the corn/shrimp balls, steamed chicken buns, Baked egg tarts, baked ginger/chinese egg pastry (this is a very strong tasting dish, chinese duck eggs black ones if you know what I mean doesn't suit everyone), deep fried chicken knuckles (something different, it's a must try!!) I would go back and eat and leave! This is not one of those places where you can sit and have long chats with your friends! Do definitely go and try the food!

Ooh.. something different!! Must try!
Submitted Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 1:45am [Dine in]

I haven't been to White Rock in years, and I will definitely go back because of 14981. I went there for lunch with a girlfriend. It was sunny and we sat ourselves in the patio. We were going to order fish and chip, which would have been a big mistake!! We were attracted by the food listed on the menu. This is what we've ordered: Chilli Prawns (Exquisite), Smoked Salmon Spring Rolls (very Unique!!), Crab/Shrimp cakes (Something Different, a mixture of tender crab and chewy shrimp), Pork Saddle (great pork very juicy and apples soaked in wine was definitely a chef recommendation!) and the Apple Strudel (hmm.. Warm apple fillings with phillo and Ice Cream!!) The food was extraordinary, a blend of different ingredients and textures which made it very unique!! I find the price relatively inexpensive with a combination of great food + service + view. I would definitely return to this restaurant!

Must try.. Cheese Ramen
Submitted Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 1:17am [Dine in]

I find the Cheese Ramen very unique, it's an integration of the East and West. The soup based was very Asian, the noodles were tender, and the cheese was yummy. I really enjoyed the everything in that bowl - corn bits, seaweed, bean sprouts, CHEESE, and LEAN pork pieces. I find it the fatty soup base and fatty pork - with a wedge of solid fat is a little bit too much for me!! This place is always filled with people and usually a long line up in front of the store, I highly recommend going there in the afternoon (2-6ish) where it's less crowded.

Carribean...
Submitted Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 1:10am [Dine in]

It was my first time having Carribean food. We've ordered chicken wings, deep fried shrimps and ox-tail with rice. As well, we had a rum (fruit infused) with coke and hibiscus with soda. I really enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant on Main. It's a casual neighbourhood restaurant. My friend and I really enjoy the dishes. The portions were good for our appetite and the taste suits us - not too strong or weak. I really like the chicken wings and the tartar like sauce that it came with. They were very dark, but tasty. The drinks were alright. The rum (fruit infused) was very fragrant, it was pretty good with the coke. The hibiscus soda on the other hand was a bit unusal. I am not a big fan of it. I would go back for another oxtail with rice, the chicken wings and the rum with coke.

love the food.. but it's too loud...
Submitted Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 1:00am [Dine in]

I can barely hear what my friend was saying, it's probably because we are sitting at the bar. Once customers enter/ leave the restaurant, all the staff would start yelling. It was quite interesting in the beginning, but for an hour or so, I just can't stand the noise. It seems like the staff didn't care if they were standing right next to you, they'll still yell.
Food wise, it's great! I love their salmon sashimi with the fried shrimp chips (great taste with smooth and fresh salmon), beef tongue (it's quite interesting, tender yet chewy - must try!!) and the pumpkin corquette (cheap thrill!!).
