Good eats
Submitted Monday, January 5, 2009 - 2:14pm [Dine in]

I went to Saffron for lunch with a friend from the East. Compared the many other Indian places out there, the decor is pretty cool. They have great fabrics on the wall and great trinkets spread about. There was no buffet when we went so we ordered off the menu. We started off by sharing an order of vegetable pokora's and a chaat. I had never had chaat before, it was really good. There are chick peas, yogurt, potato's and chutney in chaat, and these wafer type things. It was very refreshing. We moved onto sharing a lamb vindloo, butter chicken, naan and rice. The sauces were rich and delicious. The portions didn't seem all that big, but I guess we were fooled because we had left overs that we packed up to go. Our server was really good at recommending food items, but we had to wait a bit for our bill.

Great View....not so great food
Submitted Monday, January 5, 2009 - 2:05pm [Dine in]

While in whiterock we were looking for a place to eat...many of the patio's were full...too full actually. Charlie's was busy but was able to get us a table (rather than the 1 hour waits of the other places). Although the place itself is pretty plain the view is amazing. The food however was not so great. Our waitress of promt and very friendly. We started with the nacho's, which were okay, but when we moved on the starters we were less then impressed. The pasta was way to salty, and the chicken in the burger was very dry. I would recommend this place for drinks and nacho's only. For mains move on to somewhere else.

Really good Fusion food
Submitted Monday, January 5, 2009 - 2:00pm [Dine in]

I was a bit unsure before going to this place. The idea of Indian/Chinese fusion food didn't really appeal to me. But after having my arm twisted I gave it a try and I am really glad that I did. We started off the the chicken kebabs and the veggies spring rolls and they were deleicious! We moved on to a dish with prawns and egg plants which was amazing, and a chicken with cashew nuts. The flavours are so rich and exciting. If you like Indian food, and Chinese food, then you will love this place.

After a late night out Fritz is the place to be
Submitted Monday, January 5, 2009 - 1:54pm [Dine in]

If you are hungry after a night out on Granville street forget the pizza places, and hit up Fritz. Fritz has UK style Chips with the best dipping sauces. I usually go for the Mango-Chutney or the honey mustard. They also make the best poutines ever!! And if you are a vegetarian like some of friends are, they even have a veggie gravy.
