Vietnamese/Cantonese Greatness!!!
Submitted Monday, April 17, 2006 - 11:59pm [Dine in]

Finally, a place where great food meets great taste!

I went to this place with a friend last week and I have a very delicious time.

The service was excellent. The servers were so friendly they actually communicated with us. The owners are chinese which is pretty much a rarity in Vietnamese restaurants.

The Food: Delicious and fast. I had the pork chop on rice with an egg and a order of spring rolls. The rice was perfectly cooked and the pork chop really tender. The dishes were very modern, something different!

The Ambiance: Super! The decor was spacious and elegant. The restaurant was too loud in both the atmosphere and colours. They were calm and zen-like.

I would come back for seconds next time!

Homecook food is better
Submitted Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 9:55pm [Dine in]

Food: Pretty much athe same as any "fast" food chinses restaurants. I think home cook meals maybe better than MSG filled food.

Service: Fast

Ambiance: A few tables with chairs. Not a very restaurant like resaurant. Bright lights, big windows.

I went here bcause I want something to eat before I started work down the street. It nearby my work and I wanted a change from my usual.

Good Pizza, slow service
Submitted Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 9:41pm [Dine in]

Food: Pizza is Pizza! The Curry pizza is pretty good, but I like the classic pepperoni with cheese.

Service: Slow - only one guy (possibly the owner) runs the counter. I waited in line for 15mins for a slice of pizza. The busy time is between 11:30am - 12:30pm - when a nearby high school lets out for lunch.

Ambiance: Small and Loud - There is a few chairs for seating (normal for a small pizza joint). There is no windows so it get really steamy in there. There is no room to move arond. The line up starts at the door and winds into the streets.

Quick lunch - may come back during non busy hours!

A So-So kind of restaurant
Submitted Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 9:33pm [Dine in]

I usually go here for Dim Sum on a Saturday with my parents and I usually get the "better" experience while eating here. Maybe, this day was a unusual day.

Food: I have to say that usually I like the food and my stomach doesn't respond negatively to the food, but on this day I think I had a case of food poisioning. I think it was the bbq duck with noodle in soup that gave me the runs.

Service: Slow - It took time for food to arrive at our table which was all the way in the back corner of the building. There were only two carts out at a time with small amount of food in each cart,

Ambiance: Loud and Busy - The seat I sat in was under an air condition vent. I ask them if they could turn off the a/c or at least turn on the heat. They ignored my request. My body felt cold and that may also cause my stomach ache.

Like I said: It was an unusual experience. Usually we would enjoy our meal.

I like the sandwiches....
Submitted Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 9:20pm [Dine in]

I didn't even know this place existed until a friend introduced me here. I couldn't find this place until now. I have to say the food is really good.

Food: So far, their french breads is the best I ever had. I really enjoyed the bbq pork bun. The special is not bad too.

Service: Friendly and Fast.

Ambiance: Small and Pink. This restaurant is quite small, but it has that just like home feeling. It's not loud and busy like other french bread places.

I will always return here.

Great late night meal...
Submitted Sunday, March 5, 2006 - 9:12pm [Dine in]

I went here with some friends. It was 11:30pm on a Saturaday night. We were quite hungry and looking for a place open late. We found it!

Food: Good and yummy. I had the black pepper on beef with fried noodles. I was one of my favorite and a very classic dish. They can't screw this up and they didn't.

Service: It was quite fast even tho there was one chef visible in the kitchen. The refill on the tea was quite slow tho. I can't complain when there was quite a lot of people there. That night they had three waitress working.

Ambiance: Loud and busy. It felt funny sitting in the middle of the restaurant. We sat at the biggest table there.

I wouldn't mind return for another late meal another day.

A great second choice.
Submitted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 10:57pm [Dine in]

I came here with some friends as a second choice because the first choice was really busy. I didn't know what to expect at this restaurant because I rarely have Indian food. I was quite surprised how spicy the food was when my order came. I had to basically stuff my face with Naan to take the heat off my tongue. The service was excellent. The waiters and waitresses came by every second to ask if we were enjoying our meal. They filled our glasses without us asking too. The atmosphere was really calming and stress free. It wasn't quite busy as it probably should be being on a Saturday. I had the chicken curry with rice. Excellent in every way.

Chewy Noodles, otherwise good food.
Submitted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 10:51pm [Dine in]

I went here with my parents because my dad felt that their noodles were really good. He felt that they were fresh and delicious. I felt they were quite chewy. I don't remember what kinda I had, but do remember it was in a stir fry with black pepper beef. I kinda of enjoyed it! The noodles were made by hand by a chef who was enclosed in his "noodle making room". They tried impressing everyone with his talent. I didn't care though. The service was quite fast at the time, even though there were a lot of people. The atmosphere was loud and busy. The restaurant was keep clean and space wasn't much an issue. It was just okay!

Quite expensive.
Submitted Tuesday, January 31, 2006 - 10:35pm [Dine in]

I guess its good for me?
I'm talking about the food at Sweet Cherubim Food store. I brought two samosas there thinking they were cheap, but I was quite wrong. The price per samosa came to $1.97 each and they were quite small too. I'm not really complaining. It was quite good. A little too spicy for me. I got the potatoes, pea and curry one. I didn't actually sit and eat at their restaurant, but the feel of the store was friendly.

Rush...Rush....WHAT?
Submitted Sunday, January 1, 2006 - 10:46pm [Dine in]

It's new years and my family decided to have a family get together tonight. We went to Shining Garden because is close to my grandparents house.

Althought it was busy, we were seated right away. As I sat down with my brother, the waitress asked if my guest were coming because they need the table at 7pm. I sad to her they are coming their parking the car. She came back 5 mins later and told us to get out of our table because she was going to switch tables with another family. I didn't like it, but had no choice. The other table was cramped and there were hardly any moving space. In fact, the restaurant is quite small and lack space. The service itself was slow and the food arrived cold.

Because of its lack of space the noise level was horiffic. You could not hear yourself. You would hear other people conversations.

Near the end of the hour, we were rushed out by the waiter. He constantly walked back and forth, staring at us and commenting to the other servers that we need to get us out of there.

Better than Starbu....
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - 8:34pm [Dine in]

The coffee here is great. The guy behind the counter every morning is really friendly! He is not one of those guy who seems really grumpy to open at 6:30am. The atmophere of the cafe is a relaxing coffee shop where you can read your newspaper without the hussling and bussling of people rushing out the door. Unlike someother places...

I only have tried their coffee thought, I do recommend it!

Take out....YUCK!
Submitted Wednesday, December 28, 2005 - 8:27pm [Dine in]

I had a co-worker who loved going to Sushi King place an order for me since she was going there anyways. I ordered the Beef Teriyaki Lunch box that I usually get since I enjoyed my first one last month. I usually don't like the lunch box for some other strange reason.

The service and ambiance, I am not too sure of because I wasn't actually there. I sense they have good service because they are always busy.

The food is another story. The beef was over cooked and they wasn't much teriyaki sauce drowning the taste. I did finish it because I was hungry. Next came the tempura: soggy, chalky and swimming in oil comes to mind. The California rolls were okay...just like any simple California Rolls....bland!

Richmond Sushi A-okay!
Submitted Sunday, December 11, 2005 - 1:11am [Dine in]

Richmond is known for late night sushi and other things. This place is pretty good. I really enjoyed coming here after a hockey game. The atmosphere is busy thought, young asians buzzing the joint and the rush-rush enviroment makes it hard to relax and enjoy your food.

The service is really speedy and I have no problems with that. However, there is one problem with the food. The oyster thing with the cheese (or fat) that most people don't like is my main target. Twice (or three times) I ordered it; it came out really small. So small that it was the size of half of your computer mouse. I mentioned this problem I face because I am paying for the food and the waiter said that: They are randomly picked out of a tub. I understand that, but why did my friends all get a large one and I got a dinky one?

So, the place is good, but I have matters to deal with.

Just like mom made it, not my mom thought.
Submitted Sunday, December 11, 2005 - 1:01am [Dine in]

The meal was just like any mother would make. Home cooked meals with a family atmosphere. I went to this restaurant with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. Our dinner was excellent. My friend had a salad which was like any ordinary salad, but his main course looked delicious. Mashed potatoes witha juicy steak. Just like home. For me, I had a sandwich with the fixing - Steamed veggies.

The price was not bad. Just under $20 for the both of us and the service was excellent. I gave an extra big tip. Its a place for the "regular" crowd. A place where everyone knows your family history. A place for home cooked meals and love from strangers.

Cheap and Okay
Submitted Sunday, December 11, 2005 - 12:26am [Dine in]

All India Sweets and Restaurant is an okay place to enjoy a all you can eat Indian Buffet. When I went there for lunch, the service was slow, the food was cold and the quality was much to choose from. Maybe some curry and rice, some Naan and some veggies and that was mainly it. For under $6, yeah you get what you paid for. However, the samosas were better.

Two for a dollar is a good deal to me and they are quite big. I really enjoy the fried cottage cheese one. Yummy!

I never tried the sweets thought, I been told that they are very sweet and really good. I'm not a person who like sweets. They do look good under the sneeze guard or lack of one. They are literally right next to the door in a almost glass case....?

Horrible!!!
Submitted Sunday, November 27, 2005 - 12:37am [Dine in]

I went to this place a few years ago for a friend's birthday dinner. Apparently, the b-day girl knows a friend of the owner. So I thought we would be getting dicounts or something? WRONG!!!

This year the service was just like I remembered. SLOW!!! We had to wait 2 hours for our food to arrive and when it did finally arrive the food tasted horrible. The presentation wasn't up to proper standards.

It was the worst experience I ever faced. Oh, one more thing....there is a MAJOR surcharge that you don't know about until your bill arrives! I think its still 18% on top of tips and food!

This place is great if you want a quick bite for very cheap. Family owned, so you know you will get family service. This place is like "cheers" a place where evryone knows your name. When I eat here, I noticed that there are the same people here everyday having breakfast.

The lunch special is excellent. A burger with fries for 5 bucks is better than the McDonald junk.

Really Good Soup!
Submitted Friday, October 28, 2005 - 12:30am [Dine in]

I began going to Andy's Bakery a few weeks ago and I have to say it has great soups, sandwiches and the nices and sweetest lady there.

The soups are all "homemade" and really good. I got hooked on the pea soup which has some sausages, pea and other ingredients that I can figure out (LOL), but it awesome on a cold day! The sandwiches are not bad, but the buns were hard to chew.

The service was great. The little lady that runs the store front was just so sweet. She talks to you in a way that makes you feel like your in a dream. When your paying for your food, she explains what and the amount you being charge. She says it in a really cute and adorable way. You just have to be there in person to understand what I mean!
