I take back everything I said in my first review....
Submitted Sunday, October 15, 2006 - 2:19am [Dine in]

This place is not worth the $12.95 AYCE.
First, my party and I were treat with disrespect as our name was not taken down when I placed in reservation on site. When I went to complain, there were alot of confusion about who I was and where was my table. I overheard them talking about how they gave away a table that was for us.

Secondly, the food sucked. Many dishes were limited to one or two per person. Much of the slections were gone and a few choices were left on the menu. The Oyster thing with greasy cheese have been cut down literally to a small quarter size piece of oyster and place on to a tart foil instead of the traditional shelled oyster. AYCE Sashmi orders were no more at this joint. The tuna salad came with only two SMALL pieces of tuna.

Finally, when it was time to pay the bill. I was basically hassle every two seconds by the same waitress, asking if I need change and rushing our thinking skills. When I left the restuarant fuming mad, a friend notice the waitress counting the cash making sure we didn't short change them. I told the manage on the way out about the crappy services and rudeness of the waitress and she ignored me.

Only reason: It's close to work...
Submitted Sunday, September 10, 2006 - 9:58pm [Dine in]

The main reason why I come to britannia sushi is because I work near it. If I got some time to spare and want sushi I rather get it at britannia sushi, but lately they haven't been really good on some things. One thing, I notice when I am waiting for my order is that the guy who prepares and makes the sushi doesn't really wash his hands after touching other things. Another thing I notice is that he generally talks over the food and chews gum. I find that this is not worth eating her twice a week.

A few poster back said that there was a little boy who runs around in the restaurant: I know that little boy as he uses the goes to school at britannia. He is sometimes a handful and is pretty much harmless. This is a family owned restaurant and it seems the WHOLE family is always there. The family literally lives at the restaurant.

So I been back a few times, but not as much as before. The service is great. The staff is friendly (except the sushi chef) and the ambiance is pretty good.

Kat's needs BBT training
Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 11:35pm [Dine in]

I came here with a few friends at night and it was pretty busy. I was the 5 person in line wait for my bubble tea and there were two people behind the counter asking one another how to make the drinks. I basically waited 30 minutes for my drink and they got the order wrong. I asked for a green tea BBT with pearls, but they gave me a regular tea with coconut jelly (I hate coconut jelly). I told them that this wasn't what I ordered and they totally ignored me. I stood there for 10 minutes waiting for a respond before one of them looked up and smile. I told her that my order was wrong and they made a mistake, she told me that I ordered that and I probably made the mistake in ordering. I basically threw my drink at them and walked out the "tea house". This place is run by teenagers who have no communication skills with real adults and knowledge of talking to paying customes.

I came back another day the one smiling girl was behind the counter again and walked back out. I haven't returned after my drink tossing incident.

Smoking or non smoking?
Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 11:23pm [Dine in]

I guess we were placed in the smoking side of the restaurant as the little small MJ area had people smoking in it.

I came here with the whole family as a post wedding meal and noticed that the food wasn't the only thing that smelled like smoke. I looked over to the side that was covered with "cubical walls" and notice smoke rising from it. Each time the smoke risen, it smell denfinately like cigarette smoke. I notice this to the manager and he pretty much ignored me.

Back to this review: The food was okay...it wasn;t anything special. I guess the smell of cigarette smoke makes food taste horrible.

The service was pretty fast as the food came out before we could finish our other dishes.

The ambiance was really hard on the eyes.
It was loud and quite bright in the building.

I wouldn't come back here....bleh!

Great feel and excellent food...
Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 11:14pm [Dine in]

I came here with a friend and didn't even know that this place was here until he showed me.

I really enjoyed my meal as it came perfectly as I ordered it. I had the rice with three items on it. I had black pepper steak, pork chop and can't remebered the thrird one, but it was good. The price was really reasonable as it included soup and a drink.

The service was fast considering that it wasn't very busy. The waiter was really nice and came back every odd minutes asking if the meal was okay. He even ask to refill my drink.

The ambiance was awesome. The decor was perfect. I really enjoyed the shadow lights and the colour was perfect for dinning. Tables were scattered in the space and there were a lot of room to move around. The patio space was unused, but I wished it was used as it would have been a perfect day to enjoy my meal. I think there were some shadow boxes mounted on the walls.

I would definitly recommend this place and even come back!

Too hip for my taste buds...
Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 11:06pm [Dine in]

I came here with my friend and his church group a while back as they need a late late night snack. I didn't care where I was going because my friend was basically my ride home. I should have asked him to drop me home because this place isn't really for me.

I have no problems with the food as it was really good and the service was okay for the time (it was quite late - 2am ish) and this place surprising was just about to close for the night and people were still eating. The servers were really nice and got our meals in the most quickest time that she can.

The problem I have is with the people that were in this restaurant and the ambiance. It had a west end feel to it and the people were so hip that I felt out of place. The decor was clean and slick with bold colours and bright lights. It felt really modern for my taste. In a way, I felt like a mall display in some store.

I haven't returned since and plan not to return.

I HAD better service...
Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 10:46pm [Dine in]

I came here for a farewell dinner with some friends for a friend that was leaving. The leaving friend picked this place.

The Food was pretty good, but every sushi restaurant to me taste the same. I am usually on there for the salmon sashimi. Which we were only limited to 20 pieces, but it was really fresh.

The Service was pretty much like most all you can eat places, it was quite slow for that day. It seemed that there were only four servers working that day. We had lots of time in between orders as food came really slow.

The ambiance was quite good in a way that it was really quite in our little reserved area. We really couldn't hear the people beside us and the restaurant was as loud as I thought.

I would give this place a second chance...

Submitted Friday, September 8, 2006 - 10:40pm [Dine in]

Ever since they renovated the restaurant, a lot more people are coming to this place. My family and I had to wait 25 minutes before we got a table (this was at 10am on a Saturday).

The food is the same as any other chinese dim sum restaurant. There isn't a special sauce put in a shrimp dumpling...Everthing is the same...

The service is as slow as usual.

The ambiance is quite loud in a newly renovated place. We got the small table right next to the entrance so when ever I tried to hold up chopsticks and put something in my mouth, it would usually be knocked down by someone trying to get to their table. We couldn't order a lot to put on our table. One thing that ticked me off was a beam that was right in the middle of a walkway toward the washrooms...I had to walk around the restaurant before making it to the washroom.

The place is still the same in food and service, basically the only thing that changed was the place being renovated.

Asiana Sushi Japanese Restaurant1179 Commercial Drive, Vancouver
They changed their name!?!?!?!
Submitted Monday, July 17, 2006 - 9:55pm [Dine in]

This place is still on Commercial Drive and the are still serving sushi, but with a new sushi making man and new kitchen lady (sushi man's wife). Even with new people in the sushi business...this place still is poorly handled with their arch nemesis (the other sushi joints).

With the lacking of quality of their food, mixed with the slow service and the constant asking if they can hurry it up a bit because I only have 10 mins for my break, I found the service very slow.

The food is still poorly made leaving me with a hard time digesting my sushi. The only upside I can think of is that the california rolls have alot of (fake) crab meat inside.

Health Alert: The sushi making man doesn't wash his hands after touching other things. I told him to wash his hands, but he ignored me. I left frustrated in spending money on nasty food.

Ambiance: Still the same. Cheap looking and warehouse atmosphere. Washrooms are small and tight. Dirty floors match the messy windows.

Oh, their new name is Asiano Sushi (WOw what a change!!! Not really)

The only reason I come here....It's in my neighbourhood...
Submitted Monday, July 17, 2006 - 9:43pm [Dine in]

I use to go to this place alot, but recently I went here for lunch after just getting off work and I felt like eating sushi. I came back in surprise that the orignial owners still are in service. However, they lack of many things other than customers...

The food has changed alot, it used to be really good...now it just bland. I really have to use the soy sauce that is given to me to make the food go down. Pricing has gone up, due to supply and demand....What demand? They have no customers! $8.50 for a spicy sushi combo where other sushi places charge about $7.50 (and the other place is SPICY!!)

The Service: Hasn't changed....

Ambiance: A few new lights and pictures hanging on the walls. A few fun disease filled flies buzzing around you. (The least, they can do is go to the dollar store and bug a cheap bug catcher)

Note: I only come here because it's in my neighbourhood and I get hungry on the bus. Otherwise, I go eat at other more better sushi places....

I went here once and regreted that I neve came back because the sandwiches was so good. I had the Telus (BC tel) sandwich wich consists of meat (forgot what It was) and horseradish(remember that...YUK!) Too bad that my friend and I came back one day and discovered the windows taped up with black garbage bags and a sign on the door saying "see you later". I was quite disappointed about it and left to sulk in my cheesy Subway sandwich which didn't stand up to this place.

I go here after a co-worker told me to try thier juices because they are really good and very healthy. So I decided to try one. I loved it the first sip I took and been back since.

Food: I really good. I love the juices that they make in front of you. They are all natural ingredients and really healthy too. My favorite juice would be the "Greenly" (with a 1 oz. shot of Live E3) which consists of Carrots, parsley and beets. Cost $7.75 for a large.

Service: Some of the people who work there is sometimes friendly, but there are times where they are a pain in the behind. The service is quite slow on days where there are a lot of people and only two workers are behind the counter.

Ambiance: I don't stay and enjoy my meal because the restauant is quite hot, even with all the doors and windows open and the fans run non stop the building itself is hot and musty. It does get quite loud sometimes because you situated right on Commercial Drive, but you ill live to forget the noise.

I always return here and recommend other to follow my path. I don't get enought servings of veggies and I try to have more, but sometimes I can't and this helps.

I puked near The Bay
Submitted Tuesday, June 6, 2006 - 10:10pm [Dine in]

Not really near the Bay, but in the washroom. This place is still popular with the weird Metrotown junkies. I only went to this place because the other, more better sushi restaurant in Metrotown was under renovations, other wise I wouldn't have to come to this place.

Food: Sushi is Sushi and for me I like it very much. The food I got came unfresh and when the warm items (i.e. Miso soup) came to our table, it was COLD. I asked to return it, but they told me that I would have to pay extra for wasting food.

Service: Wasn't worth the 10% tip I left. I was even happy leaving them 10%. Constantly, I asked to for a waiter and constantly they just ignored me. The little booth we sat in wasn't cleaned properly, leaving left over food on the table and when asked to clean it, the server gave me a "huh?" look and walked away.

Ambiance: Small, cramped, loud and smelled. We sat in a tiny booth. I literally hurt my back trying to get out of the booth. I'm 6'5".

I don't understand why people line up here for sushi. This place is really bad and yet there is always a crowd. Sigh....Those Metrotwon Freaks.

Went here for dinner with some friends.

Food: Classic chinese meals. I had the congee with beef slices. Very hot and savory.

Service: Friendly

Ambiance: Althought the place was big in size, the noise sort of echoed off the walls make the build loud, but that's normal for Chinese people as we tend to be loud.

After a long absent from this place, my parent and I decided to visit it again (since it was the only place open near our house). I went back to a place I remember not too long ago, a place where the service is still the same: SLOW

The Food: Same old Chinese Dim Sum. Can't really change much about the food.

The Service: Slow

The ambiance: Well, they changed the decor, added a few chinese details. The dining room itself have gotten bigger and the tables are still cramped together. We shared a big table with tow other familys which pretty much became akward.

Submitted Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 12:44am [Dine in]

This restaurant was closed down for sometime after damages from a fire next door. I went here with my parents on Sunday, first time since the renovation and the service and food is still the same.

Food: Same Dim Sum as any Dim Sum place.

Service: Still the same, slow!

Ambiance: The room itself is LOUD, the colour is bright and they install more lights than before. The building has changed, either has the decor. There are the same amount of tables and even more customers.

I was just in a hurry for food and they happen to be open at 9am on a Sunday morning. I may come back one day...

Better than Broadway location.
Submitted Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 12:32am [Dine in]

I went here with three friends, less than the other time. I had a better and enjoyable dinner this time. I do come here for lunch sometime as work is very close for me.

Food: same as the other Memphis Blues. Better as there were less people and more food.

Service: The service here is much different. There wasn't a server when we came and we had to pay for our food before we even consumed it. The speed of preparing the order was the same as the Broadway location

Ambiance: There are MORE tables and MORE room. There wasn't a line up outside to be seated and we were seated in a few minutes.

I definately WILL return to this locations as it much better as in you don't have to sit so close to your neighbour.

Hurry Up and EAT!!!!
Submitted Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 12:26am [Dine in]

Memphis Blues, only two locations (that I know of) and we had to pick the Broadway one.

Food: We ordered the "Elvis" Platter which was bigger that the other ones. There were 12 in our party so we had to order two platter. They came with enough food for 11 people. I was left hungery after we left. Lots of GOOD food, meats and sides, but not enough for 12.

Service: Slow, only had one server taking the number of people in you party outside. There was a huge line up. We waited 1/2 to an hour to be finally seated.

Ambiance: Small and crowded. The building itself is a small narrow restaurant. Not more than 8 or 9 tables inside. Maybe even less. Small space means LOUD place.

The Commercial Drive location is much bigger, maybe twice it size and more tables.

Submitted Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 12:16am [Dine in]

I came here with a few friends and had a expensive time.

Food: My two friends had the Prime Ribs and they said that it was pretty much the best ribs they ever had. I had the steak and lobster "combo": My steak was small and over too charded on the outside, my lobster tails were over cooked and dry. I liiterally had to douce my potatoe with the butter because of it over dryness.

Service: Friendly and Fast

Ambiance: our table was located next to a fireplace that was "pushed out" near the centre of the room. We litter had our backs to the fireplace as we ate our meal. On the other side, there was a group of tables that sat so close to our that it was pretty much impossible to make our way our. I asked if there was another table for us to moved to and they said that this is the only reserved table left. However, on the other side of the floor there were more EMPTY tables...

I may come back or may not...This is what I get at an usual KEG

Good food and service, loud noise...
Submitted Tuesday, April 18, 2006 - 12:08am [Dine in]

I usually venture to the Sammy J's near Metrotown, but decided to go down to the one in Richmond and did I make a good decision.

The Food: I had the BBQ'd Cheeseburger - beef burger with onion straws with potato wedges as my side. The burger was well cooked and went down savory with crispy bread. My friend had the same burger, but with two patties and he REALLY enjoyed it.

The Service: Fast. The servers were always coming to our table and asking how our food was. They were quick with our orders and refilled our drinks without us asking. Bravo!

The Ambiance: We sat at a booth in the far corner of the building. Pretty much near the bar. It made me feel too high and the noise pretty much surrounded us. The building itself looked like a former warehouse converted into a restaurant.
