Save yourself fustration and money
Submitted Friday, May 21, 2010 - 8:48pm [Dine in]

Decided to have dinner at a local pub with spouse. Our first time at South Point. When we entered, the big screen TV was on with sound pretty high. None the less we decided to eat there sitting sufficiently away from the big black speakers that line the room.

After ordering our dinner someone (bar guys?) decided it would be great to turn the TV volume to the max. It was so loud it deafened us - painful. We were only able to talk if we screamed across the table and even then. Unlike most youngsters we suspected no one had taught these guys how to use a TV remote responsibly. We also thought they would get the idea when half the restaurant up and left. We were about to do the same when our food arrived. This was the second time we saw our waitress and the second waitress. Service bit. I asked her about the TV volume and she said "yes, it's loud" and nothing more was done. Topping it off was the food; modiocre at best, lousy in reality. We eventually were able to flag down another waitress to ask if something was wrong with our order. Again, nothing done to fix it.

Do yourself a favour. If you like this type of place, save yourself some money by driving through McDonalds, take it home, turn on your TV with the volume to the MAX and put your ear to the speaker while eating. At least that way you'll get to choose your channel.

Great Atmosphere, Good Irish Food
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 10:04pm [Dine in]

It's nice to have a different place for pub night. Irish food (stews, sandwiches, ...) that you don't find in other places. Music on weekends. Excellent Irish look and feel. A little more pricey than average pub. I go there when I want something a bit more than the same old. Can get busy and seating has been a problem.

Basic but good Fish and Chips
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 10:00pm [Dine in]

Small, family run business in Fort Langley. Portions of fish and chips are large. They always have a special on. Can never finish portions of fish. Nice family. Small simple place with wood tables. Most come in and order to go. Right in downtown Fort Langley. No complaints just good old fashioned fish and chips.

Good Basic Italian Dining
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 9:55pm [Dine in]

We like dining here when we feel like a good solid dining experience with good service, a bottle of wine (or two) and expanding wastelines. One of the better Italian restaurants in Surrey. A bit more $$ but worth it. All the staff work hard to provide a pleasant experience. Try to save room for desert.

Great Summer Place for Lunch and Dinner
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 9:49pm [Dine in]

We really like Sideshows. Right on the White Rock beach with free parking. They used to do great ribs (tandori) with baked yams - yum. Pricing seemed very reasonable. Service was good. You can also sit up on the roof and overlook the ocean although it gets a little hot and bright during the summer weather.

Good Tea, Poor Furnishings
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 9:46pm [Dine in]

We like this place for its bubble tea. Good selection of flavours. Not a place to stay as the setting is dark (intentionally) with little seating. Really more of a student hangout. Usually drive up, order and go. Staff are always friendly. Great for a cool fruity drink on a hot day. Try the mango bubble tea (I prefer without the pearls).

Dark and Pricey
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 9:42pm [Dine in]

Have been to Brown's a few times now. Each time the food and drinks were "just okay" but overpriced. They have a patio facing the parking lot which is better if you don't mind sitting in front of cars driving by. I found the inside to be dark and uncomfortable. Was hopeful this would be a good place for meetings but have stayed away since the shootings in the mall.

Great food and view at a reasonable price
Submitted Tuesday, July 14, 2009 - 9:37pm [Dine in]

Can't believe this place isn't more busy. Right on the beach avenue in White Rock. Deck overlooking the pier. Excellent Indian food in simple surroundings. Family run and very personable. Always seem to have leftovers to take home for next day. Definately one of our favourites in the area. Great for after a day at the beach. Very casual.
