Food: Coffee was old. Muffin was hard and stale tasting.
Server: She was very nice. But she was overworked by the owner.
Location: Convenient location, but the place seemed crowded and unorganized.
Some of the other items looked nice but not sure how fresh they are when I watched them take out frozen pastries from the fridge and let them defrost before serving them. I wonder when they were really made. Price wasn't too bad.
I would not return here because I don't think they stuff is fresh.

My wife and I have been to the Ebisu on Robson and had mixed feelings. Ie, the food was good but the server was lacking.
We tried this one on Broadway because we were in the area. We basically had the same experience. The ambiance and set up of the place in very nice. We both ordered lunch boats with a variety of items in them and for the most part in was pretty decent. Sunomono, rolls, tempura, and a few pieces of sushi. Not great, and not bad either.
The problem for us was the service. It was non existent. The server didn't say more than a word or two the whole time to us. She seemed so angry and distant. She never said hello, just gave us the menus. We ordered. She never checked on us, how we're doing, how the food was. The only time we saw her was when she brought the food and spoke no words, and brought us tea. At one point I went to the bathroom and she walked by me and bumped me (although I think it was an accident). It was after one o'clock, so it wasn't that busy. I think she was just angry or hated the job. Since we were paying for it I didn't want her to ruin our lunch or else I might have said something.
Therefore, overall, the food was decent and the server was lousy.

Overall, a very nice restaurant and good food.
I was shopping in the Lynn Valley mall and noticed Hanamaru Japanese Restaurant. I asked the staff and they said a new Japanese owner just took over. I love Japanese food so I sat myself down and looked over the menu. I was impressed!
I ordered an appetizer sunomono salad and a sushi combo plus a couple extra pieces of sushi. The food was delicious. The sushi combo had an assortment of sushi, rolls, and some tempura. It was great. My extra sushi of tako, tuna, and clam were super fresh and delicious.
The staff were very friendly and things were running very well (ie, I didn’t have to wait too long for my food). The servers were doing a great job. I used to work in a restaurant and understand how hard they work so I left a nice tip. The sushi chef was busy making sushi and it was fun to look thru the window to watch him make his sushi.
I would recommend Hanamaru Japanese Restaurant for some authentic, nicely priced, and tasty Japanese food.

We ate here awhile ago. My father told us about it and we were glad we went there. It reminded me of the deli's in Montreal. It's a regular no fancy sandwhich and deli. We had a variety of things from matza ball soup to lox bagels, to latkas, etc. The food wasn't gourmet, but it was yummy and filling.
The whole place gave us an old fashioned homey feel. The servers were nice. There is also a sandwhich bar and other goodies where you can do take out.
