Was looking to buy a bday cake for my gf and went to Richmond and found this bakery on westminster hwy. I had to say this is a very "different" bakery compared to the other asian bakeries... if you know what I mean. Instead of a big bday cake, I've bought a pack of six different kinds of mini cakes and they were amazing!!!! I couldnt believe I would find this type of so called "Japanese Style" (the clerk told me so) in Richmond. Those cakes tasted like to ones in yaletown (couldnt remember the name of the shop). Too bad I dont live in rmd, but worth the trip though!
I went there with my gf last Monday. The ambian is nice, service is good (maybe because we sat right beside the cash register). The food, however, is typical chinese style jap food. For $11.95 I think it is a fair deal, however, the sushi rice we had was really bad (too hard, tasted like leftover rice). All in all, not as good as I've expected but not bad for the price in this area.
Food: Good portions and very fresh raw fishes
Service: Very good, and servers are very nice and fast!
Value: Good prices, solid quality~
Ambiance: Nicely touched with Japanese style ambiance.
Overall: It's very hard to find an authentic Japanese restaurant in Richmond. Although the chefs are not all Japanese, but at least the owner is. I dont mean that Japanese own restaurants guarantee anything, but at least they know what they are doing. They offer some new types of rolls like the Tiger Eye Roll and etc.
Food: fresh with different some twists to the traditional Jap style menu (maybe because it's operated by Koreans)
Service: It's fast even during rush hours. But some orders do take a while to prepare!
Value: Generous portion, not as big as the one you find at Samurai Sushi.
Ambiance: Typical cafeteria style.
Overall: If you are looking for a place to have Japanese food but do not have deep pocket, then this is a good start!
