better make your own

I visited there twice, about a year ago, and yesterday (Nov, 06) Is it just me? The ramen didn't taste as good as a year ago. I ordered syoyu(fatty pork with non fat soup) the pork was just a chunk of lard, it wasn't edible, noodle wasn't aldente like supposed to be. Gyoza was just out of frozen mass produced by Kanaya product. you can easily buy a pack of ramen at fujiya or other japanese grocery store and make your own which is cheaper and tastier than kintaro.
Dissapointing...

there aren't any japanese employees in this japanese restaurant, thus the food is far from authentic. i ordered some nigiris which the rice tasted really bad, i couldn't even finish it.
Their service is good, its too bad food is not worth visiting there for...

it's great place if you are smoker, hockeyfan, tight jeanswearing, still got 80's haircut. But suprisingly, food there is quite nice. i go there for the food and get out as soon as possible. this is the place for 'not so doing well tsawwassen-rites"

I don't want this place to be too popular, because we eat there so often. By far, this is the best japanese restaurant you can dine in out side of japan. ( i was born and grew up there, trust me) I took my relatives from tokyo and they loved it, they went there 4times during their 2weeks stay. Their sashimi is fresh and well presented. attention to all details including sushi rice (temp, texture, vinager ratio, etc.) Chirashi has more fish than rice! Santenmori has solid Kaiseki background. The kitchen does french/japanese flares, such as seafood crocquet to die for. Their service is great, however, japanese staff have more knowledge and better service than non-japanese staff. Excellent value for the dollars!
