Okay so you want a breakfast that is going to carry you through the day, John's is the Place. It is as close as Victoria gets to a diner. On the weekends, count on a 20 to 30 minute wait to get in. Sometimes the staff will bring out coffee other times the just ignore you. Be sure to get your name on the list.
The food is exceptional, and plentyful. The price is fair, count on $30 for two for breakfast. What people said about the staff not being the friendliest is pretty true. They are shy with strangers but once you have come back a few times they are more receptive.
We like the Macaroni Grill for lunches. It has a good lunch menu and our favourites are the Chicken Marcella and Penne Rustica. A typical meal starts with fresh bread and Italian butter (olive oil and basalmic vinegar). Usually just the one dish enough but sometimes appies are very good. They have a great desert tray, especially the chocolate. Service is consitently good although at lunches it can be a bit rushed. Definately a place to go back to.
This is one of our favourite Thai spots in Victoria. Usually it is best for lunch. The service staff is pleasant and efficient. It is remarkable how they can create such good food in such a small kitchen area. The specials are usually best.
