White spot used to be a good - non pretentious - family place, a Vancouver original. But then, they put in the fancy west coast furniture and decor and it just started to become a drag.
The food is pretty average at best, and half of their menu is indian and chinese food. If I want indian or chinese food, I'd go to an Indian or Chinese restaurant. The prices are inflated as well and I find the only good thing is the Ambiance. The locations and dining areas are nice but I would rather pay less for better food instead of sitting in an expensive dining area and be forced to absorb the costs on.
I have given up on White Spot - go back to the way it used to be!
I really like the place - the pasta is always fresh and in big portions. And, I have never had a problem with staff or service.
Again, the value is good considering the portion sizes, but it is pasta so it doesn't cost much to have a huge portion. Still, the pastas are great - try their curried pasta - it tastes a bit fatty because of the cream base but it is delicious.
My favorite pasta place in Vancouver.
The food is Mediocre the only upside is the price which is pretty reasonable.
But I can't say it is good value because you get average to poorish food at a reasonable price... is that value?
I have been here twice, the second time I didn't bother finishing my lunch and just got a slice of pizza instead.
It is amazing what is considered food when students are involved.
Good place for lunch at SFU!
I like their buffet since it has a variety of good eats and currys. It is reasonable price but sometimes out of my lunch budget - $12 + tax and tip.
They have a Value menu which has a bunch of good food items for around the $7 mark. The must try item is the Naanwich sandwich. It has two pieces of naan bread with chicken or cheese and grilled veggies in it.- sometimes I crave it when I am studying.
The food is top quality and always tastes fresh.
The staff are mainly students and I haven't had a bad experience with service.
One of my favorite places and the best at SFU.
Negatives: Kitchen closes kind of early - around 9pm.
